All of the staff and residents of the wren are liars and slanderous towards all smokers, they have exactly 0 smoking areas. They never use the maintenance fees to maintain nessasary functions of appliances, astetics and new furniture never make up for a lack of maintenance up keep.

My family and I stayed at the Wren during our vacation to Vail and really enjoyed our room. We had a balcony facing the slopes, a fireplace, and a loft, which my siblings really liked. The stairs felt a bit perilous and narrow, and the loft itself is close quarters with two single beds. But it did its job, and no one fell out of bed and tumbled down the stairs in the middle of the night. :)
The master bedroom had its own bath and a king size bed, which was pretty comfy. The kitchen was updated with modern finishes and included cooking utensils, a tea kettle, toaster, and pretty much all the usual necessities.
The balcony was my favorite part. When it's snowing, everything is so peaceful and beautiful. There's a little creek that runs behind the entire back side of the hotel. It goes a long way toward making you feel like you're on vacation (particularly for someone who lives in Florida).
It wasn't a far walk into the village, maybe 10 minutes, or a bit more of you're trudging through fresh snow or avoiding the ice. It feels a LOT longer toward the end of the night after a hard day of snowboarding when it's freezing outside, but the walk is beautiful during the day. I found myself stopping to take a picture every few dozen feet.
The staff was nice, though we hardly saw them. There's free tea and coffee in the office and sometimes snacks, if you get there before they're all gone.
There's also a dedicated shuttle stop here, making it very easy to get to and from the airport. It does take several hours to get up the mountain, but being up there with the fresh air, great views, and a lovely room to come back to at night makes it all worth it.
If you're looking to stay in the heart of the village, this isn't the place for you. Nor is it the fanciest looking place. But it is a great hotel with nice rooms and excellent views. Oh, and excellent real estate for snowball fights and snowman building!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - LadyAlmalphia C.CO, CO11Sep 10, 2022
They have no regard for their customers and their needs. If you are a MMJ user they have no consideration for any medical problems that you may have. However if you're an old person that doesn't smoke or anything go ahead and waste your money and time

We recently stayed at the Wren this summer, during the GoPro Mountain Games. First, we booked in the fall of 2019, then the pandemic hit 2020 and the games were postponed. I called to try and cancel, as we did not know when they would reschedule nor if we would be able to go. However, we were told too bad, policy is in place and you will lose your $365 deposit. No breaks, no discount, just told no, but we can rebook to a later date. So we hoped that we could make the next games. The games were rescheduled two more times, and each time we were told no. Finally, we stayed with the Wren to save our $365 and went spring 2021. Before arriving, we called twice to check the height of the parking garage, so we could determine which vehicle to drive, as our truck is quite tall. Both times we were told 10' and over. We arrived to find out that the one spot we got (for a 3 bd condo, which is ridiculous to offer only one parking spot for a 3 bd!), in the parking garage we would not fit... the height is 6'8", (we needed 7' 6"). We were not apologized to, and were told we could park at the parking garage for the city down the street! After my husband told her no thanks, it's your fault as you told us we would fit and cant, you need to do something, she "volunteered" to move her own car out of a guest spot so we could park there! And then complained that over the weekend she would park at the local garage so we could have the guest spot... it's for GUESTS!!! NOT employees... part of the price!!!!
Our bathroom fan did not work, and the noise from the interstate was loud and woke us up all night, so we found a box fan and propped it up in the window to dampen that noise. A window in the second bedroom had a crank that was stripped out, so it couldn't be opened or closed more, and the second window didn't open either. Mattresses lumpy and need to be replaced.
The unit was clean, but it does need to be updated and is in need of repairs.
When we checked out, I told the front desk of the repairs, and they were scribbled on a sheet,... two other people were also there checking out and had similar complaints. No apologies. No extra offers for the inconvenience.
We will NOT stay there again nor recommend it. So sad.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Analog G.New York, NY308468Jul 8, 2016First to Review
I don't want to gush but we just absolutely loved this place. Hated leaving it! The only drawback at the Wren was that it was a little further out to the edge of the main Vail area but anyone who can ski or snowboard shouldn't have any trouble with the additional hike (- the hotel shuttle was too infrequent to utilize). Still, I'm afraid to say how much I loved it because then we'll never be able to get a booking again.
The room was absolutely beautiful. The fireplace and the extra blankets and pillows were just delightful. The rug was thick and I had brought an extra warm blanket which we spread on the floor in front of the fire and dimmed the lighting at night. Mostly we just lounged all over the comfy sectional couch watching the flat screen when we were "home" (because it really did feel like home). The view out our balcony was of the professional skiers practicing steep downhill around the flags every morning. I was able to watch pretty closely with the binoculars. Below us was the Vail river. It snowed. It was beautiful.
The bed was cozy and the heat worked well. There were 2 full bathrooms, lots of hot water, lots of big closets - really convenient storage space for your skiing/snowboarding equipment. The place was clean and we didn't want for a single thing. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could need and also had a long granite bar/counter which was great for my husband to set up his computer and work at (he can never just walk completely away from work and so he had a lot to do). The Wifi was a solid connection that never dropped, which was crucial for his work. Cell phone reception was also fine. There was an office that generally had someone there to answer questions, and over in that area were some food machines and a pool table which we never used, but it's not the kind of place for lots of facilities and activities. Mostly everything you need is at your room, or you are on the mountain; although I did see a couple brave souls in the outdoor hot tub most nights. The Wren has a real feel-good vibe that made the whole Vail experience a pleasure (other than the fact that you cannot get a decent meal in all of Vail, but that's a story for another time...)
Also every car gets it's own numbered and covered parking spot. This is probably standard at Vail hotels but still it was nice. The best part of the trip was that my husband booked it through his RCI points so that the cost was minimal. We booked almost a year in advance and were told how rare it was to get this place with points, which we certainly believed once we saw just how nice it was.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Edith R.Seattle, WA11531Apr 3, 2018
This place stinks. Literally. It's run down and dingy. Everything from the pillows to the furniture were old. The bathroom fans sounded like an airplane was taking off. There are 2 old hot tubs but they are small and get crowded very easily. Avoid this place. The photos are deceptive. It's not close enough to the Village and not close enough to the lifts. There is a shuttle morning and afternoon. But in the afternoon, if you want to hang out after skiing, you'll miss the last shuttle and there's not an easy way to get back.
