Disappointed is an understatement. I went for lunch with my husband, he was excited to dine there. I will only comment on my meal, salmon, which came with 3 sprigs of asparagus. We shared the baked potato, only came with sour cream, no butter. Nothing to write home about. Then came my favorite dessert in the world, creme brulee. I was so disappointed it was just plain custard with a bruleed top. Total bill with tip $172. if you're going to charge these prices, the meal better be top notch and it wasn't.

A must go. It's a alternative to Peter Lugers as it's opened by a staffer whos been there for years. While Peter Lugers is more casual this one has a more table side atmosphere, good service, and a much more options menu.
Go to here was the crab cake and the porterhouse for 2. Great flavor tasty tender steak with a char. Crab cakes were heavy on the crab pieces of the sea and very satisfying. For a choice of a steak house in the city i'd recommend here as they don't disappoint.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tom M.Duluth, GA165105Mar 21, 2024
The brand and reputation intrigued me and was quite disappointed. While the service was fine, and about average for attentiveness, I would expect more for about a $400 tab. The ribeye was nothing special and cooked unevenly. Very nicely crusted on the edges but too chewy in the center with lots of fat rather than marbling.
The tuna tartare was good but how can you really screw up raw tuna?!? The tomato and avocado slices were a nice touch. I'm was expecting more for the lobster bisque but much too soupy without the creaminess and thickness one should expect from a quality bisque. The few fresh pieces of lobster were nice but not night to redeem the meal.
Service was good but the atmosphere was loud and mainly from older clientele who seemed to be hard of hearing since everyone wanted to talk loud. Strangely, of
the 3 of us dining, 2 needed sharper knives for our steaks. That's either a testament to how tough the steaks are or how dull the blades may be. Or a combination of the two. Either way, I'm not a fan of Wolfgang's. So many better options across NYC especially for the price and experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 322207390Feb 27, 2024
Honestly iconic. I wouldn't say the ambiance or service is unparalleled but it was a very solid steakhouse.
We started with their bacon, which were thick cuts and so satisfying to eat. We then ordered a porterhouse steak to share and it was delicious. The best way to describe it is that the steak almost melted in my mouth.
Their creamed spinach was also amazing - highly recommend this specific side dish.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 4, 2024
Wolfgang's Steakhouse disappointed with overcooked lamb chop and a chewy porterhouse steak. The steak's quality didn't align with the hefty bill, and service left much to be desired.
On a positive note, the wine selection and creamed spinach were enjoyable amidst an otherwise underwhelming experience.
In conclusion, while Wolfgang's Steakhouse in NYC provides an acceptable dining experience, the abundance of other steakhouse options in the city offering superior steak quality and service makes it worthwhile to explore alternative choices. Your culinary journey in New York City can be elevated by selecting establishments that consistently deliver excellence in both the quality of their steaks and the level of service provided.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 12, 2024
I was in the city for a conference and my group ended up having dinner here one night. The setting is pretty nice, high ceilings, large glass windows, low light for dinner service. That said, with how many guests that can fit in there, it can get quite loud.
Service was great. Our waiter was super nice and patient. We had some people with dietary restrictions that he was accommodating for.
I ordered a mezcal old fashioned to start with. P
Pretty solid! Smoky, a hint of sweetness, with a background citrus note.
After that I had a ribeye that I ordered medium with a side of asparagus. The asparagus was grilled and cooked decently. There was still some bite to it and it wasn't some sad mush. The ribeye was surprisingly good as well. A true medium - nice and pink in the middle but cooked enough where some of the fat was starting to render and connective tissue was starting to break down. Beautiful crust on the steak as well, which I was impressed by.
Overall a good experience. That said, very expensive.. Not sure if I would come again on my own accord or my own dime unless I was celebrating some occasion.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Patricia Z.Staten Island, Staten Island, NY42197399Apr 6, 20241 check-in
Going to a play on the same block so it was very convenient to eat here. Steak was great, we got porterhouse for 2. Place is nice a little business vibe not romantic if thats what you are looking for. Service was good. I would recommend only if you are in area...if not then there are definitely other places that you can go.

Went there for dinner. Service not really great at all despite being empty. My wife ordered crabmeat cocktail which was poor. and from the can. My lamb was very good and the salad ad sides were fine. add to this the fact that it was ridiculously expensive. $25 for a wedge salad! There are many high end steakhouses where the service is way better, food as good or in some cases way better, all for considerable less money. Terrible value, would never go back.

What a fabulous way to dine on our way to the theater. The prime steaks and seafood are perfection. It is a reminder why so many restauranteurs have tried to create New York Steakhouses all over the country. But there is no substitute for the real deal. And this is.
My daughter searched and searched to find just the right restaurant for us to visit while in town. She was so pleased that it ultimately hit on all levels. Service. Presentation. Quality. Experience.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Tony D.Apopka, FL10765183Jul 15, 2023
Was hoping for a good experience since this is typically in the top 10 steakhouses in nyc. And they have so many locations, its got to be good, right?
I was looking for a good steak and this was recommended.
First off, the compliments...wifey is a pescatarian, her final comment was "i went to a steakhouse and got great fish"
Crab cake was $30 and was tasty and flavorful
Sea bass was cooked very well and didnt taste "fishy' (her words, i thought it was fishy)
Grilled Asparagus was excellent
Sauteed Mushrooms was cooked very well.
Ok, about the steak...
I typically get ribeye and when its dry aged, its a bonus. That said, lately ive been finding the ribeyes to be extremely fatty and this was borne out at Wolfgangs. See the photo. The outer edge was basically all fat. They steak itself was cooked well and had a nice char. I could usually excuse the fat content if the center was good and this wasnt the case, i cut into an area of silverskin that made the next bites awful. So i sent the plate back and opted for a filet as i didnt want to have a second bad experience.
Well that happened anyway. The filet came out about five minutes later and the outside had a great char. But after a few bites on the edges, it was obvious the steak was cooked less than ordered. The middle not only was rare, but it waa cold.
Sent that back
Waitstaff was attentive and good.
Ambiance was nice.
Doubtful that i will return as there are so many other options in nycHelpful 5Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 2
