Sweet, family feel to this waterfront inn in the heart of Santa Barbara. Walking distance to pier, waterfront, shops and good. We spent three nights here and enjoyed a lively continental breakfast every morning, wine, cheese, crackers and grapes for an evening happy hour. We also got bike rentals with our stay and had a great time exploring the waterfront on bikes. The property was gorgeous, facilities clean and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Five stars for Melissa and Teresa for their special hospitality!

We arrived well before our check in time, and Patty C. helped accommodate our early arrival to some degree. She was friendly and full of local advice as we had several questions on places to go and things to do.
This location feels a tad dated, but totally fine. It is withing walking distance of everything, super location. They have plenty of parking, which can be a challenge in this part of Santa Barbara, and they are right across the street from the beach.
The room (#103) was nice, and we enjoyed the jacuzzi after a day of wine tasting. I'd come back to this property without hesitation. They also offer a very basic continental breakfast, starting at 7am, AND a wine/cheese evening mixer which is part of the room rate.
This property has charm, and the staff is great, thanks Patty C!Helpful 12Thanks 3Love this 11Oh no 0 - Jenny R.Corona, CA1308Dec 30, 2023
After lots of searching I found this hidden gem in Santa Barbara. This place is the best bang for your buck. The staff has been very nice, helpful and accommodating. The wine and cheese hour is a great perk, and the breakfast was plentiful. We were very pleased when we booked a garden view room and ended up with an ocean view as well. One thing that was unique to any place we have stayed was a live plant inside the room, I thought this was a great touch! Overall, we would definitely stay here again when visiting Santa Barbara.

We enjoyed everything about this lovely place to stay on the harbor. Our room (321) was great, everything we wanted. And the private patio added to our enjoyment of the visit to Santa Barbara. The hotel is conveniently located within easy walking distance of most attractions. Staff was very helpful. We will return. Loved it.

You get what you pay for. First off, the staff at the front desk is very welcoming and courteous. The property itself is about a 10-minute walk to the pier. Parking is decent, and the property has plenty of spots for its guests, considering for Memorial Day weekend. Room cleanliness was decent from the time we checked in. The hotel offers a daily continental breakfast but with very limited options to cereal, bagels, hard-boiled eggs, fruits, and toast. The bathroom offers bodywash, shampoo, and conditioner from a fixed dispenser. However, the bathtub has an awkward glass placement in lieu of a shower curtain that makes turning on the shower knobs... awkward.
As for the cons, the cleaning staff omitted cleaning our room. We were gone for about a good 4 hours during midday, and the maid staff did not clean our rooms even after the front desk asked us a preference in time of day. The television set did not allow for me to use my Amazon Firestick cause of its input placement, and the TV volume was very faint. Pillows were subpar and kept me tossing and turning for most of the first night.
Overall, we spent about $400 per person for 2 nights. Again, you get what you pay for, and still wasn't a bad price for a holiday weekend. Definitely wouldn't mind returning, but it's definitely not the worst choice.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Doc Ev E.Castro Valley, CA09581Mar 7, 2024
Quaint hotel in good location.
We enjoyed our stay right across the street from the beach nearby the marina area and the pier short walk away. They provided us 2hr passes to a local bike store so we explored the area along the coast some more. Afterwards the walk into downtown was about 15-20min w shops and eateries. Front desk staff gave good advice on the sights for the area
The heated pool and the jacuzzi were pluses. Beds maintained though wasn't well insulated to all the outdoor noise.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lisa R.Scottsdale, AZ636231Oct 11, 2023
Beautiful area, and everything is within walkable distance which I enjoyed. I just wish I knew how small the Queen room was going to be, the pictures made it seem bigger otherwise, I would have paid more for a king. The beds feel like you are sleeping on a box of cement, so uncomfortable! Just a few changes would make a huge difference Otherwise, it was amazing.

Needing a place to stay in SB for my wife's birthday we chose the West Beach Inn. We chose a garden view room as we were only staying for 1 night and didn't need to spend the extra money on an ocean view room.
The room was tiny but nicely furnished. The hotel is 1 block from the water but also decently close to downtown and State Street. The staff was very friendly.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 1, 2022
A motel soul and upgrades to 2.5 stars.
My friend and I booked a place on Hotwire that was supposed to be a 3 star hotel. We ended up receiving West Beach Inn, which I was initially pleased based on the ratings here. However, upon arriving, my friend noticed the "no vacancy" sign and immediately knew our stay was going to be motel-like style. The layout definitely cried out motel but with some cosmetic upgrade changes.
I suppose I am used to staying at Marriott and Hyatts, and Holiday Inns. My expectations of 3 star hotels was skewed in Santa Barbara. The $$$ amount I spend at 3 star hotels was typically nicer, but I guess there are tourist up charges in Santa Barbara.
Pros: Convenience location to the pier, downtown state street, and funk zones.
Breakfast was minimal, but included coffee dispenser, hot water, bananas, oranges, bagel, English muffins, yogurt.
$5 deposit upon check-in.
There is a hot tub and a tiny pool that seniors and kids use. It gets clean once in a while.
Cons: Tiny concierge front desk/area for eating.
Cramped bathroom space and outdated doors/fixtures.
Garden area was a shared space and basically few trees. Not much to see or do.
Old fixtures and odd bathroom setup with no shower gels.
For $350 to $400 a night, I expected a bit more amenities. However, it has not been the worst experience I've stayed at.
Service: The service was adequate as the concierge was able to find a bathing bar for me. However, I wished they were able to make attempts for earlier check-Ins. Check in 4PM is late for me and they were not able to clean the room early by my request. Checkout is by 12PM.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alexandra H.Santa Barbara, CA379635Aug 6, 2023
so far this day has been excellent! The pool area is lovely and customer service is outstanding. We have felt very private and comfortable here as we've been here for a few days we wanted to give a shout out to the individuals that made it happen for us during fiesta week. Out of all of the places we stayed in Santa Barbara this is by far the most accommodating and comfortable highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in a hotel in Santa Barbara and downtown Santa Barbara area.
Just a short walk to the beach, which is right across the street, and a few blocks away from the pier , it's an ideal location. It's comfortable and barely moderately priced. We had stayed in a Quality and a few days prior to staying here and it was about $100 less, it felt like such an upgrade moving to West Beach Inn and we're grateful for this facility and all the good they do for the people that choose to stay here. It's clean, quiet and accommodating and honestly it's a home away from home currently.
Quick shout out to all of those who work here , thank you for being the reason. We're comfortable while we're away from my home.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0
