An old fashioned sophisticated English restaurant with good service. I arrived first, waiting for my friend. The water was nice enough to invite me to sit at the bar and even offer me some iced water (it was a 35C/ 95F day in England). They obviously didn't have any air con (this being olde Englande) but the decor is beautiful and very elegant.

A hidden gem in a tourist location but very much worth the stop for a meal. Beautiful old world English charm inside with helpful and friendly staff. I had the whole filleted plaicewith fish special served with caper beurre noisette, new potatoes & seasonal vegetables for £18.95. Such a well presented and flavorful meal. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding. Wow, soooo incredibly delicious. This meal was the best so far on my holiday. Do go and enjoy this place. Cheers!

My partner and I dined here today for lunch during our 2 week tour of the U.K.
We chose The Vintner based on a recommendation from the Rick Steve's travel guide.
We stopped by at 1130am and they informed us that lunch service was almost booked and we could have a 12noon reservation. We made the reservation and shopped for 30 minutes.
The ambiance is rustic and pretty. This place appears to be a high end place. Within minutes of being seated the entire place was packed full. We were seated upstairs and it was charming.
The menu had something to please carnivores and vegetarians. My partner had the beef stroganoff entree plus a rocket(baby spring mix ) salad with shaved Parmesan and a house dressing.
I was not that hungry so ordered the soup of the day, potato and leak soup. It came with a generous basket of artisanal bread. The bread was assorted white and dark brown rye type bread.
Mark ordered a light draft beer recommended by the waitress. I ordered a glass of Pinot from a Chilean winery.
All of our food and drink was delicious. Service was top notch from beginning to end. We appreciated that they had the newest POS credit card machines since service was not included in the bill total and their machine allowed us to leave tip on the credit card. Most other places that we dined did not allow tip to be left on the credit card so it was nice to be able to recognize good service .
If you are in Stratford, be sure to make a reservation and try this place!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 45918975098Jul 29, 2014
Stopped in here for a pint before the theater. Loved the history and the feel of the place. The service was efficient. There was a reasonable selection of beers although most were in bottles and only two on tap. Did not try the food. I would come here again. There were people eating and it looked good.

I had lunch here with my husband. He's English. I'm American. He was allowed to order like a grownup. I had a salad explained to me in a slow, patient voice and had to nod to indicate that yes, I knew what a salad was and was fully aware of what I was getting into.
The food was good, upper end pub, but if I wanted to be talked down to I'd go have lunch with my family.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mary M.San Anselmo, CA04Jul 28, 2014
Lovely, attentive service. Fabulous food that appealed to teenagers as well as discerning adults. Charming ambience. A perfect end to a lovely day in Stratford upon Avon- you can imagine the Bard at the next table.
