Great small place with Counter and take out service. Very friendly staff.
It's all about the food. High quality, well prepared and reasonable price.
PoBoys are the speciality. Great bread is needed for a great PoBoys. Potatoes are cottage fries and a small will easily serve 2-4.
You'll be back.
We have a lot of company and they always want to go back here.
Check opening hours before you go. Enjoy!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Apr 13, 2018Previous reviewThis is truly a gem. Delicious foods. We love the PoBoys so delicious on melt in your mouth Langlinas French Bread. We can usually get the family size bowl of fried potatoes to start. Be forewarned -order a half serving for 4 or less. Trust me.
Fried shrimp PoBoys are our usual go to except when oysters are in season. They are delicious and batter fried just right. Other friends go specifically for the roast beef PoBoys. A visitor had the meatball PoBoy. He loved it and it was really big. If you don't want the bread get the seafood on a plate. But be forewarned DON'T order the fries first. The plates are loaded with fries.
Salads are very simple mostly just shredded iceberg lettuce.
My only suggestion is a better local beer selection.
Go there you won't be disappointed. Suggestion is to check the opening hours before you go.
It's definitely a local place where you can eat like a local and love it!!! - Jun 3, 2023
Having heard raves of adulation, and being both hungry and nearby, we stopped in yesterday afternoon for shrimp po-boys.
What we got were typical of recent regional po-boys. The bread was fresh & excellent. Veggie "dressing" was routine.
The shrimp appeared to be around 36-count, in adequate if not generous, number, fried in wheat flour "batter" (?).
As an elder Cajun, I long for the days of frying seafood in "Louisiana Fish Fry" or the homemade version of same. This is a concoction of corn flour, corn meal, granulated garlic, salt, black & red pepper, etc.; and fried in very hot peanut or canola oil. Historically, the shrimp used were quite a bit larger. Those gave a taste not possible with "WalMart Shrimp" fried in wheat flour mix.
The homemade fried potato "chips" were soggy, not crisp.
Prices were quite high for a small-town po-boy.
Bottom line: Typical sandwich for area, over-priced, over-rated.
Although disappointed, we may go back for a "second chance", in the hopes that "Villagers" was just having a "bad day".
Beer, soft drinks, tea, & water. Easy parking in aggregate lot, little shade. Nice waitress.

WOW. Best shrimp Poboys ever. Shrimp in every bite. Great bread. Outstanding and friendly service. Live in Houston. Originally from Maurice. Always try to eat there.

Recently when to the Youngsville location and everything ordered was amazing. It was my first time dining at Villager's, but it was so good went back again the next day. Great service, great food, great staff. I would even say the best poboy!!

Great new location for an old establishment. My expectations were high going in. Their French fries when eaten in house are some of the best around. My fries came out perfect. Crisp but not so hot you couldn't eat'em. I love the meatball po boy here. This one met my expectations. Like a lot of po boy spots the service arrangement is a bit weird. I have had the shrimp and oyster po boys here- top flight recommendations. Great neighborhood ambiance. I'll come back. Probably too much.

Have been to the location in Maurice many times. It is a very tiny location but the service and the food have always been good.
Have anxiously awaited the opening of the Youngsville location. The food was very good, but the service was horrendously bad. They got our order wrong, the table next to us got a wrong order.
The folks at Youngsville better get it together or they won't be open long.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 13, 2021
Heard many people talk about it but it's definitely nothing to drive out here for. Had the shrimp poboy and philly. Not enough shrimp on there and little off tasting and not seasoned enough. The bread is ok. Don't like crunchy bread but it still is soft as well which is nice. The philly needs lots more as well inside but not bad and could use some whiz. Other than that just nothing about this place justifies driving 25 minutes. Nothing is really made from scratch here. Oh well I tried and now I know.

Youngsville location. Warning. Your au jus is brown gravy. Y'all gotta step it up. Simply buy packs of au jus powder and add water. The po boy was delicious. A roast beef should come with a cup of proper au just automatically.
