short & sweet this place is legit. Great food here. Bro had the ground beef enchiladas, best he ever had. Fantastic.
I did the 2 x Mexican tacos $10. Fresh hard shell, ground beef, guacamole, cheese sour cream. Muy bueno! Nice little place great music too.

always love stopping here! The food is delicious hot & fresh every time. My husband enjoys the quesadilla and I love getting the flatutas. Service is always great and are quick to bring us anything we need. The space seems small but is surprisingly bigger on the inside than expected. Love getting a margarita with sugar rim while I enjoy my dinner. Always excited to go back!

I live right down the block from Villa Y Zapata and although I've driven past a hundred times, I never stopped in until this past weekend and I am so glad that I did!
My husband and I decided to share the Tinga Chicken and potato Chimichanga and both were extremely tasty. The Tinga is basically a stew with chipotle peppers in and although it was not something that I would typically order at a Mexican restaurant, I was extremely delighted! The Chimichanga was awesome too, fried to perfection and crispy! Even the side of refried beans was top-notch with memorable flavors and awesome texture. My only complaint is their weird-ass margaritas that glow an alien green and taste very chemically. That's OK though, I forgive them and next time will just order something else to drink.
I am so happy that I live so close by and this will definitely be my new go-to Mexican spot.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Lori B.Cleveland, OH484Feb 12, 2023Updated review
Went to celebrate my daughter and my sisters birthday, with a couple family and friends. Everything was great from the salsa to the chips, margaritas , and the Dinners were perfect! I'm so sorry I didn't take pictures. I had my favorite, chile rellenos with rice and beans. Delicious

Update! This time (given we are now fully vaccinated) we ventured indoor here for another meal. Wow...soooo much better when it is hot and fresh! We shared a bowl of soup, scarfed down their chips and salsa then each had our own dinner meal.
The chicken soup with rice had an oniony broth and was full of tender shredded chicken. My wife's dinner huarache with veggies and green sauce (which she loves) would have been better with steak or chicken, not just an all-veggie version. I had the tinga poblana made with smokey shredded chicken braised in chipotle seasoning and served with potatoes, tomatoes, onions and sour cream. Portions were big enough to take some home and we each had a lunch meal for the next day!
Cheap beer specials, warm service and fantastic food...what else could you possibly need?!?!?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 31, 2021Previous reviewRecently got a takeout dinner from here (due to COVID-19) as we've always wanted to try this spot in our (new) neighborhood. Prices are right, portions are significant and some of my wife's friend rave about this spot. We each ordered our own dish, but passed the plates in order to try them all.
We ordered a chihuahua cheese appetizer, tacos a la plancha with chicken, a small combo and finally a dinner huarache with chicken and green sauce.
Unfortunately, they somehow got party of the order wrong and we ended up with some very sad looking "plain" nachos with some chips covered in burnt cheese and salsa floating around the container. So, let's move on.
The tacos a la plancha included three double tortilla wrapped tacos filled with a bevy of toppings and served with sides of Mexican rice and refried beans. Both my wife and daughter loved this dish...street tacos at their best! I believe both the rice and beans were homemade as their flavors popped beyond those typically found at other similar restaurants.
My small combo came with a beef burrito (covered in white cheese), a chicken enchilada (covered in green sauce) and Mexican rice and refried beans. The beef burrito had an unusual flavor I could not put my finger on. The chicken enchilada was solid and their verde sauce is top notch with an acidy tang to it.
The star if this meal with the huarache dinner! The base is a flat corn tortilla, layered with your choice of protein, onions, cactus, lettuce, beans, cheese sour cream and your choice of sauce (in this case the verde sauce) along with Mexican rice and refried beans. Each bite provided an explosion of interesting flavors and it was hard to stop crushing it!
Even though we had a few "blips" with this meal, we will most certainly return, and continue to take others advice and move beyond their "typical" Mexican dishes into some of the more exotic items...which is where the gems really lie! - G L.Cleveland, OH0287Sep 10, 2023
I didn't taste the food here. The restaurant is so dirty. There is a foul smell the moment you walk into the restaurant. The restaurant is filthy. The walls, carpet and tables are grimy. I'm amazed anyone would eat there. If the front of the restaurant is disgusting I can't imagine what the kitchen is like. There is no excuse for having a filthy restaurant. Even if you have no money to decorate you can at least clean. The carpet doesn't look or smell as if it's been cleaned since the 1970s. It's so gross.

A hidden gem. It's been around forever and sometimes overlooked with all the other Mexican dining options now available. Small and quaint with great margaritas and good food. Worth a visit if you're a fan of Mexican restaurants.

Hands down best Mexican cuisine in Cleveland. If you have not gone yet do yourself a favor and try it.

Visited here after reading about this place being authentic Mexican.
The server and service was very nice, but the food was lacking authenticity. Very bland and what I would call "watered down mexican"
I would actually give them 3.5 stars because of the service.
I'm guessing they service who visits here the most.
I ordered the American Tacos and the Mexican tacos. I wanted hard shells and let's just say of the 5 I didn't eat the shells of 2 of them. The rice and beans were just blah.. Might not be to my liking, but there were others here, who swore by them.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
