I wanted to prepare for Squadron Officer School (SOS) and noticed the lack of photos of University Inn at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, so I'm sharing my experience to help future attendees.

I stayed in building 679 on the 4th floor, and here's what I appreciated:
      - The kitchenette is well-equipped, so I didn't regret not bringing my mini rice cooker. They provide pots and pans.
      - The base exchange (BX) is just a 5-minute drive away, making it super convenient.
      - The room was spotlessly clean. Room service comes everyday
      - The walk-in closet is a nice touch, offering ample space for your belongings.
      - Location-wise, it's great - close to the fitness center, cafe, academic building, and more.
      - The room itself is spacious and comfortable.

      However, there was one downside:
      - The HVAC system was a bit noisy, which made it challenging to sleep at night. I tried to consider it as white noise, but it still affected my rest.

Overall, University Inn is a solid place for SOS attendees, offering convenience and comfort. Just be prepared for some noise from the HVAC system.

Terrible customer service. A majority of the staff mostly front desk came off as abrasive with some attitude and wouldn't make eye contact during check in/out when handing you your room key for example. A smile would be nice.
Jennifer the sos rep also refused to go out of her way when changing a comrades room. We asked about an empty room and she just kept giving if/probably statements and when asked to find out for certainty she refused with an attitude as well. Most the old buildings (1431) also have rust and rats/traps in the room. Not a pleasant experience overall.

This Air Force Inn is really hit or miss depending on the building your room is in - some of the rooms are great and pretty comfortable, and others are huge but with a double bed (which was doable, but my husband and I trying to share a double bed was definitely entertaining). Same comment as all other reviews - the ladies at the front desk are pretty salty, but again, this isn't non-standard for some AF Inns we've been in. I think the biggest frustration is getting a double bed when paying $70.

For those fortunate enough to get the main SOS dorms you'll get some nice accommodations without having to share bathrooms with a neighbor. There's plenty of storage space and room to sprawl out. My only suggestions would be for the tvs to get upgraded to LCDs, to maybe have an actual kitchenette on each floor to actually be able to cool something, for the toilet seats to not be blocked by poorly planned counters, and for the hvac to be a bit more effective.

The maid service is pretty decent and they work 7 days a week. Ours seem pretty inconsistent with towel service though.

The freezer space in the mini fridges can't even fit a pint of ice cream....I learned the hard way. They supply 2 small bowls, plates, forks, spoons, coffee mugs and a small single serve hot water machine. They've got a really strong microwave that burns popcorn in 1 minute.

There are dayrooms on each floor that offers a nice large space with a big conference table...perfect for beer pong. No TV's in here though which would've been nice for movie nights.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the accommodations here having to live here for 2 months. Hopefully I don't ever have to come back again for school!

The rooms were good for the price. We stayed for a couple nights for an officer graduation. Our room had a regular size refrigerator and lots of power outlets. They also have nice recreational rooms and laundry rooms. They have a good selection of snacks for purchase at the front desk.

If compared to staying off base with similar cost lodging you get more for your money on base. The front desk was a little slow for checking in and out.

If you are able, ask to be put in the newer buildings, including building 1409. Those rooms include a larger fridge, a much larger room, and there is a day room in the building with an oven/stove for the same price as the other buildings (more hotel room style). The staff is really great with daily room service. There's also very cheap drinks and food and laundry detergent type amenities at the front desk! Coffee included in the room!!!

Customer service is terrible. Rooms are decent, good price. The front desk was pretty rude over simple questions.

Terrible customer service and housekeeping. Came back to my room and towels in the bathroom are now on the floor and no new clean towels are provided. When I called to the front desk I was told I could go buy a towel at the BX. Also, numerous times my trash hasn't been taken out. I normally don't post negative reviews but I'm simply appalled at this facility.

Went to check in and the woman working the front desk didn't say a word to me just snatched my ID. Then she says "it's not ready" tosses my ID back. I sit there for a minute and she just stares. I then ask what time to come back and she says 2. Nothing else was said. Serious attitude problem.

For lodging, this isn't bad. I wish they had more rooms with kitchen burners, but in the newer buildings there is a dayroom where you can cook if it isn't busy. The beds are okay but not great. After 2 weeks, I am missing my nice comfy bed. I wish the house keeping vacuumed the rooms more often. In 2 weeks my room has only be vacuumed once. I do like that the building has a large laundry room with free washer and dryers.

As with most bases, the area right outside the gates are a little sketchy. Once you get about 10 minutes away from base it seems to be more safe. All in all, it's an okay place to stay.
