The bread is always so fresh tasting and never stale. A true staple for me when it comes to breakfast sandwiches. The staff is friendly, I called my order in. Drinks prepared on arrival. Cute area to pick up other items in the fridges located in the back left. The floor was clean, staff was very nice to my dog. Gave the little guy a milk bone pup cup.

Decent food but has so much more potential!! The meat portion on every sandwich is soooooooo minimal. Disappointing, because the flavor is there but there isn't enough to actually enjoy. I've gotten their Reuben twice now and BOTH times have had such little corn beef filling. If you know a classic Reuben, you know those bad boys are filled + stuffed. Having experienced a Reuben here the first time, I asked for more corn beef and I didn't mind paying extra... they charged me $5 extra for more and it was actually laughable seeing what they considered extra. I also had to ask for pickles on the side ... when they usually always come with one. That's also an up charge.
Now I am not bashing this place at all, truly has good food. If you want something quick and easy it's a nice spot to stop by. But if you want the true experience of a real Reuben, this is not the place to get it. Heads up.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A J.Madison, CT0512Apr 3, 2024Updated review
Totally disorganized, terrible pastries, ok sandwiches but basically very mediocre. Ripped me off on blt w (no) avocado (charged 3$ more and said the avocado was in the mayo!) . Whatever- if they need the $3 so badly must be desperado.

Their hot chocolate is divine. Be sure to get the works with toasted marshmallow etc. you will not regret!
Pastries here are pretty lame. Go next door, much fresher. Just remember to pick up the cinnamon bread from Madison Bakery before you leave... best ever. - Keha W.New Haven, CT2262Jan 3, 2023
I have been going to marketplace for a long time bit lately? Not happy with quality of food, service, and now choices and selection of ready made food has been drastically reduced. grill staff dont seem to care or connect with customers, a sense this is only a job and always seem distracted with each other etc. also dont appreciate the grill person that conversation with staff and every so often comes out with "motherf__ker"!

This past weekend, I ordered my sandwich...it took 25 minutes to make. Now, I'm not a rude fella, but of course I'm going to ask if my sandwich order was lost after 10 minutes. (Not being a Karen or Ken, just making sure so I don't look a fool if it was lost somehow). What I was told, after speaking with the young man with the rainbow knit hat on, was that he was too busy to make it and that someone else would help. Not a problem and I thanked his honesty.
6 employees were behind the counter. 2 at the register, 2 making sandwiches, 1 making salads, 1 in the back cleaning. So I waited some more thinking all was good. Twenty-five minutes I waited. Stupid me right? But I went along with the show and didn't cause a scene. I'm not that guy.
The part that did get me sideways was when I picked up my sandwich. Apparently I offended everyone by waiting as long as I did. To the point where the staff behind the counter were talking smack as I walked away with my sandwich. Retrospect thinking, do people just order sandwiches, pay for them, and just leave if it takes too long I asked myself. Digressed...sorry.
Now, I'm not a guy who makes a scene, but when I do feel that I am being chastised, I'll post a comment. I don't do it often, but when I do, I'm usually sideways about something that wasn't right.
Im not saying don't go here to eat. What I am saying is the younger generation of employees here have boundaries when it comes to customer service. I felt as if I was bothering them. Yes I paid for my sandwich, but the service I got made me feel like I wasn't appreciated or welcomed.
Lastly, I paid a tip. Yep, I paid a tip at the time of my bill of sale before I received the crummy service and wait time. Why did I pay a tip for bad service? Well, the tablet register coerced me to when I was ordering/signing. I didn't have to, but I also didn't want the employees to not earn a bit of extra cash for a job done well. Here I am, Jon not well done, regretting my tip, regretting my purchase, and regretting my decision to stand there for 25 minutes. My fault, right?
You should patronize local businesses. I'm a firm believer. I am not saying don't go here to eat. I learned my lesson about tipping and hopefully the owners will read this and maybe make a few changes regarding tipping before or after the customer receives their product.

They catered my daughter's shower at the Guilford Yacht Club and did an amazing job. The food was delicious!!!! Everything from appetizers to dessert were so very good. We received so many compliments. They were also very nice, professional, and great to deal with!

Spent $15 on a gluten free sandwhich, that was literally the worst sandwich of my life. The bread was just about inedible. It was incredibly dry and I couldn't eat more than a couple bites. just ate the meat and am still so hungry. What a disappointment. Now I am hungry and out $15.

Stopped into the Marketplace on the green in Guilford for lunch. What a treasure this place is. My husband is vegan happily they had options for him as well. It's a walk up to the counter and order type of place with many many choices from deli to bakery coffee etc. Plenty of seating indoors and out. I noticed one of the soups of the day was a creamy carrot and dill needless to say I couldn't resist it. It was delicious flavorful and creamy with just the right amount of dill. I asked for the curried chicken salad on a croissant it was so good a little sweet a little spice everything you'd want in a curried chicken salad. My husband went for the house made veggie burger which he absolutely loved. We will definitely return,

Good coffee, customized salads, good sandwich selection and a pleasant staff make this a real winner in the area. Relax with your coffee and enjoy a lovely view of the Guilford Green. Try their unique sandwich selections and maybe order some great items out of their specialized deli/meat counter. It's a staple and a hub on the shoreline that should be experienced!

Truly like this place and everyone is so nice, but was surprised when I ordered an egg and bacon sandwich and they charged me $4.00 for a gluten free roll. That is double what I've ever paid anywhere. Also, when John the butcher left the beef dropped off - it's now prepackaged where are used to be cut to your choice and taste is not there. Try to buy from local stores rather than chains but now I have to go to Fresh Market for my beef.
