Really cute franchise of shops that has a lot of warmth and love inside it. The workers are so kind and patient, and offers so many interesting things from Portland and the PNW area. Candles, teas, wine, olive oil, jewelry, clothing, music, prints -- they have it all!
On this trip, I ended up getting a few cute cards, a bag of loose tea, and mask with filter insert. It also made me feel better knowing that the shop helps local artisans and womyn in general. Here's their statement, if you're still on the fence about supporting and shopping local:
"50 amazing people working here who have such a zeal to serve artists, promote creativity and champion positivity that it inspires us everyday. Our little t-shirt silkscreening operation has grown into a family of apparel and accessory brands like Brave New People, Seekers/Finders and Genuine Portland Articles. And then of course there's the 700+ jewelers, printers, sculptors, apothecaries, painters, rockers and misfits we work with daily to improve their work, educate people about their process, sell their products and get them paid."Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Trevor G.Louisville, KY2202Aug 29, 2022
SUCH a well-curated space!! With gifts and souvenirs aplenty both for tourists and locals. My friend and I visited this place during our time in Portland last week and were thoroughly impressed with the local art, crafts, and MUSIC this place offers! The person working that day, Mandy, was incredibly helpful and willing to take the time to get to know us and cater to our needs! My friend and I visited two other TLE locations later in the week because we loved the atmosphere and welcoming staff so much!

A really cool and unique shop with a variety of trinkets, jewelry, souvenirs, records, and health/beauty products.
I always like to stop in here when walking down Hawthorne during PDX visits. Super friendly atmosphere, cool products, and great vibes. A perfect place to stop in to get unique Oregon/Portland souvenirs- or gifts for yourself.
Tender Loving Empire always has me wanting everything in the store, and I'm certain you'll agree. Cheers!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jun 24, 2018
I'm a huge fan of Tender Loving Empire so during a recent trip to Portland, I was excited to check out another one of their locations.
We spent some time perusing the shop, which is full of lovely items, including cards, prints, clothing, jewelry, baby things, cosmetics, housewares, music, etc. While I wanted one of everything, we limited ourselves to an album, a super cute Portland t-shirt, and a catnip taco toy to take back to our orange kitty.
The store manager was super friendly and helpful. This is definitely a must visit for tourists and locals alike, if you want to pick up a unique, handmade gift for a loved one (human or pet).
PS: You can also shop their store online if you, like us, aren't regularly in the Portland area.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Jun 1, 2020
The Last time I was Shopping at Tender Loving Empire on Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard... I purchased some CDs and Cassettes. I planned on listening to them on a Rainy Day when I could NOT get to SE Hawthorne again. Well, here we are in Lock Down. There is a Station where you can Listen to Newer Music set up. I saw some Beer Can Shaped Glasses for Drinking Beverages on one of the Shelves. These have a Design on them. There were also Cans of Wine for Sale, I took note of the Types of Wine so that I could tell my out of town Visitors and Guests about this Item for Sale. Did you know there are LOTS of smaller items for Sale, in case you should need one for a Birthday Gift for one of your friends or family. Sometimes, I'm the ONLY Person Shopping inside this Tender Loving Empire store. There are Two Other Locations as well. I like this one.

"Can I have one of everything??" -Me, every time I enter stores like TLE.
This store is full of bits & bobs that make me wanna celebrate every/any occasion (greeting cards galore) and finally get around to starting a gallery wall in my apartment (so much cute wall art!) I resisted temptation to buy ALL the things, and left with a very cute print that reads, "Home is where the wifi connects automatically" for my new apartment. :-)
This is a great spot to stop by if you're looking for quirky, fun, and/or quintessentially Portland-y souvenirs. Things here are on the pricey side, but hey, no sales tax in Oregon so there's that.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amanda S.Daly City, CA142517127454Feb 4, 2018
Cute shop with Portland goodies! I loved all the little trinkets and goodies here! A little pricey but they're all uniquely made. Super friendly workers here and definitely worth visiting since this shop is in Portland only!

Pricey but suuuuuuuuuper cute store! This was the perfect stop on our last day in Portland because many of the cool prints, pins, crafts, and wares I've seen during our trip (but held out on getting) were here.
Gal at the register was super nice and wrote down the name of the artist who made the necklace I got so I could check out more of her stuff. Love that attention to detail!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emily P.Boise, ID04Nov 7, 2019
The shop is always so beautifully curated and welcoming. When I checked out at the counter the person helping me had already written down suggestions to similar music I might like based off the record I was buying.
Always love coming here when I'm in town. Always something new from local or hand selected makers!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
