An amazing Russian Jewish restaurant with a homestyle taste. The kebabs are excellent. Freshly made and bursting with flavor. The kebabs accompany the bread that you can get very well. The partially cooked onions offer a nice bit of flavor compliment to the meats and bread. Overall superb food quality. Service is less than desirable. Restaurant seating is tight.

The place smells bad. The Russian older lady @ the register doesn't know math nor does she understand anything . Not sure why they keep her there ?? She is a real deficit to the business .
People don't appreciate being overcharged and cut short on change .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feri M.Great Neck, NY892217Aug 3, 2022
This Restaurant doesn't deserve even one a star, service sucks, food Awful.they also charge us 7% for service charge, I thought it's for the tip, but it wasn't. When I asked, they said it's for utility and cleaning the store, can you believe that, I never ever heard anything like that in my life, and top of that we need to pay tips, the young guy he deserved to have a tip, .
But I never ever go back there and never recommend to any one.never go baclHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Alex G.New York, NY1563Nov 11, 2022
My family of three went here today and ordered very simple food. Three shish kabobs, a lamb samsa (filled pastry) and garlic fries. and a diet coke. My spouse wanted chicken soup but they only had lamb soup with veggies or borsht. So we got two lamb shish kabobs and one chicken shish kabob as well as a diet coke. The menu clearly states they don't accept credit cards and will upcharge you for using them!
I paid at the register and saw loafs of bread for sale at $4.00 each but didn't know if it was white, rye or some other flavor. I saw customers coming in for sabbath who ordered bread and fresh large wheels of fresh bread were brought out priced at $2.00 each. I bought two! Nothing tastes like hot fresh bread. The store is kosher and as new customers there is a break in time time for people to warm up to you. Especially if you're not religious and don't speak Uzbek or Russian. I try to get along with everyone and the service was quick and the food was hot. I have an allergy to cardamom (I feel like swooning and tired) which I think the samsa was cooked with but I got over it quickly. It was also a rainy day which added to my blahs. The bill came out to $36.00 plus $3.75 I gave for the tip. There was an additional leaf available under the table which the waiter should've opened but didn't (my son and I are big people). I paid at the register as I didn't want to be there all day as the restaurant closes at 4p.m. today. It would be good if the bakery added the types of bread they make and posted the prices for them. The loafs (unknown type) were $4.00 but the wheels were only two dollars? The place is a bit out of the way and parking can be a problem. I know the dishes they served to my past therapy place (Rusk) was more Indian flavored curries which were not on the menu either? So there must be I believe another menu for Uzbek/Asian/Russian population. My son and I will probably go back but not very soon. as I emphasize the people do warm up to you but it takes time...Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jonathan C. H.Kahului, HI022Jul 18, 2023
Waitress was horribly rude to me. Complete gaslighting and totally inappropriate. They permanently lost my business

Nestled in between a hardware store and another bakery, this is a restaurant that you wouldn't enter if you're not from Uzbekistan or an Uzbek food aficionado. It has double-door entry way and inside will give you a sense of Eurasian culture. Bamboo walls on one side and mirrored wall as on the other, lined by tables on each sides. We sat and menus were on the table, browsed it and ordered: cabbage salad, shurpa (clear lamb soup), borsch (veggie soup), naryn, samsa and of course-- plov. We also ordered coke for drinks. The server came back with a carrot salad instead of cabbage but we kept both anyway. The shurpa is well-seasoned and perfect for the frigid weather. The samsa is good as expected but a lil chewy as compared to the one I've tried before but less greasy. Naryn tastes really bland that we have to add all the condiments on the table to be more palatable to us. I guess it's an acquired taste. It must be the actual taste of it but I'm 100% sure I won't be getting that again next time. Now, the Pilav- garnished with carrots (over the top) with a meager amount of meat in it, is seasoned well but isn't cooked well because part of the rice are still grainy or underdone. I felt like that it was a mix of an old and newly cooked pilav. I've tried several pilav dishes before from Brooklyn and it's definitely way better than this experience. The servers are nice and very accommodating let alone attentive to our needs. For sure, I will give this a try one more time and see if my dining experience will improve so I will pay more attention to the food that failed to rise to the occasion- the Pilav and samsa. Eighty dollars after, we left with full belly and haply with discontent. Three stars for now!

If you're looking for authentic Uzbek food in New York, chances are you end up in Rego Park. Some restaurants are better than others, and Tandoori is one of the best. I came during a slow time and the staff let me tour the kitchen...which has a massive stone oven to make the famous Uzbek bread, lepeshka. It's excellent.
Also, it's really cheap so come here and order a bit of everything. The samsa are awesome, as are any of the kebabs. You cannot go wrong. The carrot salad is also a staple when it comes to big Uzbek feasts so definitely get that...and plov...and tea...and...everything. So so so good.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Eli A.New York, NY02May 28, 2022
The food is usually good and consistent which is not easy in NYC, the level of attention and awareness from the staff is good, the wait can be long but the food is worth it. Authentic Uzbek/ central Asian cuisine, nice atmosphere. I always order lunch/ dinner anywhere from 2-3 times a month.
My go to is usually:
2 sticks of "virizki" (vee ree z kee) for the non affiliated lol, or just skirt steak in English, always throw a few slices of onion on there with the meat, or as you're consuming. The flavors of the flame kissed meat, salt, fat, and onions, so simple yet hit so deep on the flavor palette that just a single bite is praiseworthy. Don't be shy though, venture out into the other grilled and flame kissed meats which sometimes may include delicious sweetbreads and other great organ meats.
1 soup, shurpa(almost a clear broth big bone and meat soup), lagman (hearty soup meat n veg n noodles) or dumpling soup. Here's an insider's secret; get the lagman without the noodles but with pelmeni dumplings. Basically the hearty noodle soup with dumplings but hold the noodles.
1-2 samsa's, minced beef and lamb meat with onions and spices poured into a crispy dough in a roundish shape, the end result is an eyes rolling in the back of your head, flavor explosion in your mouth like you've never had! Add to that the soft yet crispy dough surrounding this ball of balanced flavor that hits nearly every tastebud.
Full loaf of tasty hot bread
Jullianed Carrot salad with spices and garlic (the stuff is great, there are no words!)
Fresh salad with salt and pepper (it's a good fresh salad just don't expect any cheese anywhere it's a kosher place)
And "Brazili" drink
NYC foodie, nothing is too far out for me to try. Except escargot. We can leave that out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alisher I.Staten Island, NY10683569May 14, 2019
