Is it closed on weekends?

They're usually open on weekends but this weekend they're closed, not sure why!

So is it basically a lunch spot since it closes at 7? Any plans to stay open for dinner?
A:
It's lunch and early dinner. There is always a 20-45 mins wait. They stop letting people in at 6:30pm.

I was just reading everyone's review below and I gotta say, most of the negative reviews seem to be Karen's. I have been going to sushi Erika since it opened, I used to go to Japanese market and have been following chef Erika for a while. While I understand the operation rules are different than what we're used to at an American-japanese restaurant. Sushi Erika sticks to their japanese culture. Most of the time I go, the restaurant is packed! There is usually a line out the door. The restaurant is small therefore they put out some rules, such as no take out orders, no using lap top on tables, a one time order, and so on. While these rules may not be common in America, they are very common in other cultures. When entering sushi Erika, I feel she has brought a bit of Japan to miami. They offer amazing specials, their flavor combinations are bold and umami, and their quality of food has never been altered. I know every time I visit sushi Erika I will receive high quality sea food. I will continue to go to sushi Erika and recommend anyone I can! While reminding them that this is not ur regular sushi spot, but an authentic experience.
I went this Sunday with my boyfriend for his first time and we spent $98 dollars ordering 3 special roles, 3 appetizers, and one nigiri order. Diet Coke and sparkling water. To me, that's a steal! If you go down to Nobu you will pay exponentially more for lower quality foods. (Love nobu, it's a different experience).Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Oct 21, 2018Previous reviewThe sushi here is WOW to die for. The fish is extremely fresh, the chef has awesome recipes specially the tuna tataki with truffle!!! And price is great, super affordable for an amazing meal. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because the service is not the best... took me 1.5hr to have lunch but it's ok it was worth it!!

Update: still consistently great. The best sushi I've had in Miami.
Be prepared to wait, it's a tiny spot and there's a line is outside the door before they open. It's busy at all times, I've tried to calculate different times but it's always the same so be prepared to wait.
You must order everything at once (except for dessert, you can order that later) the reason for this is so people can eat faster and leave faster, don't get me wrong, you won't be rushed at all but it's a good way to not let the wait times get completely out of control.
I do wish they were able to accommodate take out but from what I understand they are not take out friendly.
Those are all minor inconveniences, trust me you won't have better sushi anywhere in Miami.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 31, 2019Previous reviewFresh seafood, delicious sushi and sashimi.
The good: pretty much everything I tried was delicious, and unlike the average sushi place that serves everything all at once, here they bring out roll by roll (likely due to the small tables but nonetheless it is a better way to dine). The staff was also very friendly. As far as the sushi, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. But try the supernova roll and ceviche roll, Miami heat roll was also pretty good, just try them all haha you won't be disappointed. If you have room at the end try the Melle Crepe Cake which is out of this world.
The bad: the wait is pretty bad, expect to wait up to an hour especially during peak times. They don't offer take-out but on Yelp they seem like offer delivery so not sure why they don't allow takeout maybe it was because they were busy. Wasabi is ordered on the side for 50 cents which is strange.
One more thing to keep in mind, this is a good thing I think but certain people will not like this: if it's busy and there's a wait, you will have to place your entire order at once, meaning you won't be able to order more sushi after you've already ordered. They do this to keep the waiting times down, which is why I appreciate it. - 87684810424Mar 23, 2024Updated review2 check-ins
I finally got to dine in here! We sat at the sushi bar, which is a great spot for solo diners or couples to sit. You get to watch the chefs in action.
The service was good, and the food was delicious. My favorites are the spicy scallop roll & the avocado fries.Helpful 12Thanks 2Love this 16Oh no 0Jul 1, 2020Previous reviewI finally tried Sushi Erika for the first time during the COVID-19 pandemic when restaurants were closed for dine in. They were only doing takeout, no delivery, and you had to call in your order, no online orders, and pay in advance over the phone with credit card.
You had to be persistent to place your order. It took 6 attempts (about 10 mins) for them to finally answer. I placed my order and was told it'd be about a 45 min wait but that I would get a call if my order was finished earlier. I got a call back in about 30 mins.
I was very pleased with their food. The salmon skin salad was unique and had a great umami flavor. The spicy scallop roll was simple but tasty. I found the portions to be a bit small for the price but everything tasted fresh and used quality ingredients. - Sandra J.Miami Beach, FL25127493Mar 22, 2024Updated review3 check-ins

First things first: I wish they had longer hours so I can come back for dinner!
Sushi Erika is a great casual sushi spot in North Bay village that has surprisingly great quality sushi. And it's affordable. I believe they are only open until 6pm, so it's more of a lunch/early dinner place. I stopped by Sushi Erika for a solo lunch and sat at the counter. The service was prompt and I ordered a green iced tea, Eel roll (bbq eel) and the Marie roll (spicy tuna, shiso, roasted garlic). Everything came out relatively quickly. The rolls were both perfect and delicious, you can tell that sushi chefs take their craft seriously here. The ingredients are high quality. I recommend the Marie roll if you're looking to try something new and interesting.
A random thing I enjoyed - I was really vibing to the playlist they had on. It's a great place to dine solo and relax.
I can't recommend Sushi Erika enough! I'm looking forward to coming back soon to try more of the menu items.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 1, 20232 check-ins
Craving of good, fresh, delicious and real sushi. Sushi Erika covers all your needs when you are looking for extremely good sushi. This small place located at north bay village, with a unique Japanese minimalist style and a cozy sushi bar, pampers you with local and imported fish and seafood. They also offer very nice makis (sushi rolls and hand sushi roll / cones), with a unique combinations. You will find a freezer with a very nice selection of sakes. Service is very attentive and polite and in front of the sushi bar you will find the owner Erika, giving you the most delicious sushi in the area. Take your precautions the place is always packed, so be early to have the opportunity to try this wonderful Japanese spot.

This place is my husbands absolute favorite! We always go and it's always packed! And well worth the wait! We usually order the baked salmon, Lexi Sandwich, & definitely end off with the crepe cake! It's so light!!! Ericka does an amazing job!

Still my top favorite sushi spots in Miami!
Sushi Erika has fresh fish and is always consistent! Great service and staff!
Their pricing is good for their quality!
I tell all of my friends and family about Sushi Erika, worth the drive!
I come specifically for their spicy scallop roll but you can't go wrong with anything else on the menu!
As soon as you walk through the door you are welcome by the staff and they are attentive. The ambiance is casual, which I love!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 7, 2018Previous reviewI used to go to sushi deli down the street, until the chef went into retirement. There were rumors of his daughter opening up a restaurant after his retirement. I am so happy and glad that those rumors came true because once I heard that I could get my hands on the macadamia roll again I was very excited and thrilled. Food is my happy place if you can't tell lol Sushi Erika is down the street from sushi deli, so it wasn't too bad of a drive. I loved the interior design and atmosphere of Sushi Erika. So lively and fresh! I was thrilled to see that she kept some favorites from sushi deli. I also loved how she kept the same concept as sushi deli, you can only order one time. I like this concept because it gives everyone a chance to enjoy her talent. I came here with my sister and we sat at the sushi bar, we came around 12:40pm on a sunday and the wait wasn't bad at all. We waited about 5 minutes before being seated. My recommendation is to come in small groups, no bigger than 4 because o limited space.
We were seated at the sushi bar and we already knew what we wanted. We ordered the must haves from the sushi deli menu: seafood salad, macadamia roll, and the marie roll. Then we wanted to try some of Sushi Erika menu items, so we ordered the tuna truffle, salmon skin salad, and the miami heat roll. I must say the food was esquiste and so fresh. The fish melted in my mouth and my taste buds were screaming with excitement. I loved all of the sushi deli menu items and loved her item menus even more. I can't wait to go back for some more fresh sushi. I would totally recommend this place for all sushi lovers near and far. If you happen to be in the area, definitely check this place out. - 33193334Aug 23, 2023
Cue Etta James's "At last" because at last, we have found a good place that has simple and fresh sushi. I wish there was one closer to me in Brickell!
So here's my review:
Walked in this afternoon and ordered a hot sake and edamame. The place is super simple and even at 4:30pm, all their tables were full. The servers were very nice and very attentive too. But now, my favorite topic, the food. We ordered a lot because we were eager to try so here we go. Ordered crispy rice which was pretty tasty, and the Lexi roll first. I liked the Lexi roll, and thought the kimchi sauce it came with was something different and I enjoyed it. Then we ordered the avocado fries/wedges. I didn't really know what to think at first but the waitress said they were popular and different, so we knew we wanted to try. I actually really liked it! I wouldn't eat them super often but I thought it was good. It comes with lime and spicy mayo but the avocado was nice a smooth biting into it. Definitely recommend trying it at least once. After, we tried the spicy scallop roll and a simple hamachi roll. I think the spicy scallop was my favorite thing we ordered. It was very tasty and fresh. Fresh was a common theme eating here. The hamachi was so good and when we ended with a salmon hand roll, the fish was, dare I say again, so fresh. the hand roll was also so good because the nori was crunchy and easy to bite into. I can't begin to tell you how annoying it is when you bite into a temaki and can't break the seaweed! But that wasn't the case here.
Anyway, my takeaways would be good service and great food. The price isn't seem cheap, but all the dishes are on the smaller side so it adds up. Still, nothing ridiculous. This was the first place that I saw ginger and wasabi as an extra charge, but honestly it didn't even bother me that much. We are big on them, especially ginger, so we ordered 2 of each. I'm not surprised since I've noticed sushi places in Miami not even giving ginger or wasabi.
I really enjoyed this place and look forward in coming back!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0
