This was the worst eatery we experienced on our get away. It was literally like our waiter had never served before.
The only reason they have a 2 is the ranch dressing got them an extra star. It was the best thing about the meal.
I ordered the seared tuna it was so well done I could barely eat it. Wait staff disappeared. We couldn't order a drink or say anything about the food.
Weirdest part was they had plate walkers and they couldn't answer questions or fill water glasses.
Would not go back- would not recommend.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 156107106May 19, 2019
Tip: this place is popular!! There was a line already out the door the second the place opened. Most people were seated immediately, but a wait formed very quickly.
We came here based on the reviews, and the very reasonable prices. Seafood can be hard because some places jack it really high, but unsure of the quality. This place seemed to do the trick.
My boyfriend and I ordered crab dip and fried oysters for our appetizers. We loved the crab dip! It's served cold, which was different than we expected but still delicious. It came with basically unlimited crackers! Then the fried oysters were incredibly delicious. We would get both again.
We also both ordered Sullivan's original 7 layer dish. We weren't expecting that it also comes with two sides since it's a big dish. Wow. It's something like crab, scallops, shrimp, and a whole bunch of cheese on top of fettuccine. It was great! Downside was my shrimp was rubbery... but everything else was on point.
We'd definitely come back if we were in the area again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 3, 2019Updated review

20 years ago on a work trip I discovered this restaurant. When you walk in you feel the warmth of Southern Charm and Hospitality. The food is pure culinary delight. I have only had the seafood but it is always great. My favorite is the broiled Seafood Trio: shrimp, scallops and fish. Do not miss trying Red Rice. It is a low country tradition and this is the best anywhere.
I visited again yesterday for the first time in 2 years. Simply put, it's the best and continues to be a treat. Mama D was at the front, and I met her for the first time. She and her husband own this jewel. Go and enjoy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chat C.Charlottesville, VA333161448Jun 4, 2019
This place was the choice for a wedding rehearsal dinner. I could come back for more... maybe I will. Still deciding....
The Crab Soup appetizer: has crab and not Krab so that was a good start to the meal. Could've eaten 2 more of it
Grilled Rib-Eye entree: ordered it medium rare. Decent marbling. I'll explain why I'd choose the next dish over this...
Seafood Casserole entree: ....because the mornay cheese sauce was so damn delicious on top and everywhere in between the shrimp, scallops, and crabmeat!! GET THIS GET THIS.
Fried Okra and Creamy Grits: do the okra, not the grits. Their fries were decent and on the better spectrum was the squash casserole
Bottom line: I'm still thinking about the crab soup.... I want them to deliver it to Durham NC... with a seafood casserole!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 172445977Aug 17, 2018
Great local restaurant with fresh seafood option. My husband got the flounder and it was a whole flounder deep fried with collard greens and res rice as a side. He said it was delicious. I got the crab cakes with the same sides. I thought the crab cakes were a little too mushy so I wouldn't recommend them. The food overall was ok and the restaurant was cute.

Sullivan's Restaurant has been in business for quite some time. What I find particularly impressive is that over the course of the decades I have been going there, I have found that the food had stayed consistently good over all that time. That is a major feat for any restaurant.
Sullivan's has my favorite She Crab soup in Charleston, so delicious, chocked full of crab meat. Their fried seafood selections are also on point and the batter isn't heavy or over done.
I know a lot of locals that love this place. And I am one.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0 - L H.Princeton, NJ74565670Dec 22, 2017
I love this place.
Perfectly fried pickles, oysters, scallops, and OMG shrimp. Yep. That good.
A lot of the island is getting chichi, but this place is simply consistently good. Obstinate daughter is mixed, the places that have replaced station 22 are meh, but Sullivan's stands out.
It's no frills.
The guy who waited on us today reminded me of the non-dad from Guardians of the Galaxy--perfect, got us food we were discussing (fried pickles) before we were ready (but asked--kids are loud enough for a kitchen to hear)
Then the food
Omg the shrimp was awesome. Like really great, juicy, yummy, why don't they serve this anywhere else and I'm a bad cook yummy.
Then oysters. Flounder. Repeat. All awesome.
So that's how it is. Nice service, awesome food. We will miss it soon,Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 16, 2019
Visited on Mother's Day. Well, we celebrated Mother's Day the Wednesday following this year, because of other activities on Sunday. So fortunately for us, we didn't have to fight the crowds. We got there right at opening, 5 PM. Customer service was great from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out. Prices are on par with others. Atmosphere was different than expected, but cute. Food was great! We have a large family so I was concerned that they wouldn't be able to accommodate, but we had plenty of room. We plan to return.

If I were reviewing on just the food alone, it would be two stars, but the friendly service was definitely worth a full star on its own. I really wanted to like this place, because I usually love a good seafood dive. But sadly it was a miss. The she crab soup was tasty, but everything else was so-so. Flounder was bland, squash casserole was cold, fried shrimp were soggy. With all the other great food available on Sullivan's Island, I can't imagine ever eating here again.
