Second time going to Spasso and I was not disappointed. The first visit was okay, noting remarkable but the food was really good. This time I came as part of a large group to celebrate an engagement. Our server, Zach, was very attentive even though we were in a side room. He also got all of our orders correct (even with multiple substitutions and changes) and he was also great at the end when we needed our celebration cake prepared and cut.
The drinks and food were great as well. I was a bit bummed that the pasta dish I wanted didn't come with vodka sauce which is my favorite, but I was able to easily switch it out!
The whole table was very impressed with the food and service and said we'd be back to try the weekend brunch special.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 31, 2023
My husband and I decided to have a day date and have lunch in Media, PA and stopped by Spasso. It was lunch hour on a Monday, and it was not crowded. We were greeted by our server Sarah and immediately seated in the dining room facing Jackson Street. As you enter the establishment, you are greeted by a polished bar and beautiful brick oven. The dining room was equipped with stained hardwood floors and plenty of natural light making for a pleasant atmosphere and ambiance.
We shared the following appetizers: (1) Grilled Octopus, (2) Grilled Calamari, (3) Gamberetti (Rock Shrimp with Cannelini Beans in a broth), and (4) Aracini (Fried Rice Balls). My husband and I agreed that the Grilled Octopus was our favorite of the four because, in addition to tasting great, it was cooked to perfection (not chewy nor heavily charred). Next, the Gamberetti was not what we expected as it was essentially a soup, but it tasted great and the seafood broth was enhanced by the garlic saltiness. Our third ranking was the Arancini which was seasoned well and fried but just okay. Sadly, our least favorite was the Grilled Calamari as it was heavily charred (bitter) and overcooked (chewy).Â
For lunch my husband enjoyed the Veal Saltimbocca, and I had the Chicken Fontinella. My husband thought the Veal was cooked perfectly considering it was thinly sliced (think Thanksgiving turkey breast). It was smothered in mozzarella cheese and prosciutto with a demi glaze sauce and served atop grilled veggies including spinach, onions, bell peppers and carrots. He cited while enjoying the meal that a side of either angel hair or linguine pasta would've made the dish a perfect 10/10.
I thought that the Fontinella was fine and very cheesy (fontina), though I added grated parmesan on top too. Also served on grilled veggies including bell peppers, carrots, onions, and asparagus with a tomato sauce, the dish was quite tasty. I also believed that the only thing that would've made it perfect was if it was served with pasta.
Our server, Sarah, was welcoming, informative, and fairly attentive throughout our dining experience. We opted out of adult beverages but were impressed by the decent wine lists. We agree that we will stop by again for dinner service, and maybe next spring/summer, check out their Beer Garden.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - David B.Nether Providence Township, PA014May 13, 2024
Food was good but service wasn't very good. I won't be back as there's plenty of restaurants in Media that have good food and good service.

I love Spasso's but today was bad. I ordered the Shirley Temple as a drink, and I've definitely had better. Then I ordered the Penne Spasso. It was HORRIBLE. I love all their pastas, but I just couldn't eat it. It tasted how rubber smells. They took it back thankfully, and let me order something else. All our food arrived quickly. I ordered the Penne with Marinara Sauce. I really enjoyed it. Service was fast and nice, and I always enjoy the ambiance of this restaurant. I would come back, but order something else.

Worst experience from any restaurant I've been to. Very disappointed after hearing good things from friends who had good experiences eating there. Never again. The real insult was being seated in the basement.

Solid Italian menu but be prepared for the noise. It's generally a loud restaurant. Add children...and well, there you go. For the food, solid Italian. Not extra, not fancy. Highly recommend the arancini. The calamari was good but did not have nearly enough dipping sauce. The chicken parmigiana was MASSIVE and covered in sauce. The bucatini alla Sicilia was so flavorful and cooked perfectly al dente (also bucatini is the best). The wood oven pizza was amazingly thin and completely covered in prosciutto and a massive ball of burrata. To wrap up the meal the flourless chocolate tort was absolutely amazing.

Special Wednesday addition of drinks and food with Amigo Dan. We got the pizza and this was our best stop of the day. Well, until a group of 18ish came into an empty barroom and stood right behind us. I don't know what was on the pizza. We asked for their best pizza and this is what we got. All the pieces, dough, toppings and sauce, were great individually and together. Bartender was polite and professional.

Second time here. First time was several years ago.
Decor is nice. The space is a bit tight. The restaurant was relatively busy when we arrived. They do not take reservations unless it's for 6 people or more. We waited about 15-20 mins for a table. Very noisy so hard to have a conversation.
The food was delicious. I got the grilled octopus, salmon, and creme brulee. The creme brulee was one of the best if not the best I've ever had.
We were celebrating a birthday and the server put a candle in the creme brulee for the birthday girl.
I would definitely come again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 2, 2023
I typically visit the old city location. This was my first time trying the Media location. The food was good, no wait time for a table on a Tuesday evening. They have outdoor seating in the front and a beer garden outside on the side of the building. The only downside is that the full menu isn't available in the beer garden.

We were there for a baby shower in the basement room. The food was very good. It was cramped at the tables. Too many people pressed too close together. The servers were very quick and helpful. We had a sit down lunch w multiple courses. All in all it was very nice except that they crammed too many people in the room. Tables and chairs much too close together. It was hard to maneuver.
