Almost killed my dog. Apparently never needed heart medicine and got really sick so I took her to a new vet and the new vet took her off and she immediately got better.

I am beyond upset with Dr Dudley and South Granville Animal Hospital. I HAD been bringing my 2 furbabies here for many, many years. At first I was taken aback by the very old condition of the office. It tended to not be the cleanest. However, the doctor was amazing and really seemed to care. One of my furbabies had a nail injury and the office let me sit in the room while she was recovering as she had a hard time coming out of anesthesia. The office was obviously closing but they never mentioned it to me and just let us take our time. I appreciated having a trusted vet close by. I did not appreciate that they did not send a prescription request to Chewy for me so I could get their medications easier, but I let that slide because I did like the office.
I wanted to put the positive in this review first because I am completely heartbroken at how our patient/doctor relationship has now ended.
Our older furbaby had many, many issues and over the past few months we knew we were nearing her time to leave us. I decided to call our trusted vet to help us in her passing. They scheduled a Friday afternoon appointment. We had to wait 2 days but again, I wanted to bring her to this office.
The day comes and we do our celebration of life at home with her. We put her in the car and drive to the vet, only to be welcomed to them telling us it was not going to happen. Why? Because the doctor had been sick for 2 days and was not in.
This was at 3pm on Friday. I waited in the car while my husband was inside. He came out to tell me this information and then proceeded to tell me the receptionist said they had been trying to call me all day. I quickly check my phone, no record of any call from them. He goes back inside and she tries to call again but it's the WRONG PHONE NUMBER! Are you kidding me? They have the same phone number they have always had and I have never had an issue with them calling me. When the person answering the phone is not the same person you are calling, don't you get the hint?!?!?!
So, on one of the saddest days of our life they bungled the entire thing! We left and went home to cry and hug our girl. I then called
North Raleigh Mobile Vet and it was a blessing in disguise that this happened. Dr. Shannon Burroughs made it the most beautiful, at home experience.
At least we had an outcome that was better than we could have expected. It was however NOT with South Granville Animal Hospital.
We will NEVER take an animal here EVER again.

I wish I could give zero
stars but I couldnt post unless I chose one!! I urge anyone who is considering taking their pet to this business to please reconsider. They basically killed my 15 month old lab. Dr Dudley misdiagnosed her and did not do an x-ray despite our concerns about our dog having a blockage since she literally ate everything and anything. We were told her bloodwork did not support her having a blockage and instead she was diagnosed with a UTI, dehydration and pancreatitis and after 4 days and $1600 later we were told she could go home where she didnt get any better and we ended up taking her to another vet when she began vomiting shortly after getting her home. Her belly was extremely distended and hard but we were told this was due to days of IV fluids. I was also told when I picked ger up that she tested positive to a very rare condition in which only 5 other dogs had been diagnosed. After insisting they tell me the name of the rare condition, Dudley recanted and said oh turns out she doesnt have it. After taking her to a different vet, a x-ray was done immediately where it was discovered there was a huge mass of something in her abdomin and was so large it had pushed all of her bowels to the very back of her as well as other organs pushed out of place. She was scheduled for surgery the next morning but did not make it. All of this could have been avoided and my dog would be alive today had Dudley done a simple x-ray. She does test not needed and will diagnose your pet with things they dont have to run the bill up. Please dont take your pet here

The staff was very nice and friendly.

Brought my healthy dog for boarding. They took her in on no notice which is wonderful and boarding costs were low. I called regularly to get updates and every day it was fine.

When I picked her up I noticed she was very skinny. I weighted her myself in the office scale to find out she lost 5lbs in the 2 wks she was there.

They also told me that the last few days she was having bloody diarrhea due to stress of being boarded.

What upset me was the fact that no one ever called me to tell me until the day I picked her up. They even examined her & gave her medicine without informing beforehand. I don't think their care was neglible at all but quite insensitive to caring owners who want to be in the know especially since I called just about every day or every other day for the 2 wk board.

I also found out on the bill only that I was charged for flea medicine they gave her that I did not agree or consent to. When I questioned the charge I was told that the medicine is per the policy for boarding on the first & last day of boarding. Again I would be ok with it if I was at least informed beforehand.

I'm not sure if this practice is not used to attentive owners but this greatly inhibited my trust in the clinic.

When I brought my dog home the "little bit" of diarrhea was copious constant bloody diarrhea and vomiting of blood as well. I immediately called back and they said it was from boarding stress.

I have boarded her for many years for extended periods and she has NEVER had this before.

In the one day of being home she lost another 4lbs and the next morning was totally lethargic and her gums pale and was unresponsive.

I truly believe she almost could've died that day. I brought her back to the vet as an emergency. They checked her stool for parasites that was negative and couldn't explain why she was so sick other than boarding stress. They also mentioned she needed her teeth cleaned with a possible extraction. Cost would be anywhere from $800-1,000.

They prescribed her a fungal medicine that fortunately coupled with plenty of my tlc she made a full recovery!

This was the first time she has ever been this sick in her 7 yrs of life. In my heart of hearts I know in my bones that she caught something or some virus at the hospital or maybe she drank some contaminated water from the field they walk the dogs behind the hospital.

I was a little upset they charged me for the office visit the next day since she became sick under their care, but I understand they need to make a living. Again the vet & staff were extremely nice but the whole event bittered my experience. On top of that,
I brought her back to her old vet to get her teeth cleaned and yes she did have tartar build up but her teeth were in perfect condition and the vet said it was absurd to say she would need an extraction. I paid a fraction of the cost.

These two experiences has impaired my future trust in bringing back my pets there.

My husband and I just moved to Creedmoor, NC. We were driving to Knightdale, our neighbor told us about Dr. Dudley and we love her. She is very compassionate about animals. She is very gentle and explains things so you can understand. I did correct one employee as to her attitude, she was fine afterwards. It's not a perfect building with all the bells but I have been in some pristine offices and that did not prove caring and compassion. To the other reviews please reconsider and let the staff know if you have an issue.

Friendly staff and knowledgable. I didn't take any stars away for this but the place has a little bit of "ripe" smell to it (hehe). I know, I know - it's a vet's office - it's supposed to smell like animal. Maybe I'm just used to them not smelling as strong as this one. I almost walked out my first visit.

I'm glad I stayed because this is as good as it gets for Creedmoor. The entire staff is good to my pets and make me feel that they love my furbabies as much as I do.

Good doctors but above all knowledgeable.

I have had several experiences with this office in the past. After dealing with the big chain vet hospital, I was very unsatisfied with their care and decided to come to South Granville Animal Hospital. I have only ever dealt with Dr.Scappino, and she is absolutely fabulous. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. On several occasions Dr. Scappino has gone out of her way to help my pets. In fact, I would say she goes above and beyond. It's apparent that she cares about animals, she loves what she does, she KNOWS what she's doing, and she's not out to make a quick buck. I will always advocate for her.
