My absolute favorite place. Truly. My last meal would be SBG. Everyone and everything there is 5-star. It's a beautiful space and the booths are super roomy. The wine selection is not only spectacular- they don't mark up their bottle prices. You heard me... it's not overpriced and you get great wine. The food is stellar. I haven't had a bad meal yet. And--- the service is top notch. They are always busy and yet- everyone is still warm, kind and helpful. I would give it 10 stars but rules are rules. ;)

Simply put, my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles! I've never had a bad meal there or bad experience. I do not live in LA but it is a must have every time I visit!

South Beverly Grill holds a special place in my heart as one of my top dining destinations, offering consistently exceptional cuisine and service that never fail to impress. During our recent visit, we had the pleasure of being attended to by Martha, a bartender whose kindness, thoughtfulness, and mastery of mixology added an extra layer of enjoyment to our evening.
It is always a warm and inviting atmosphere with a fun crowd.
Each dish at South Beverly Grill is a masterpiece in its own right, starting with the Spinach Dip, a creamy indulgence that sets the gold standard for comfort food. The Coconut Shrimp Roll delights with its satisfying crunch and subtle sweetness, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to using only the freshest ingredients. The BBQ Ribs are a carnivore's dream, boasting meaty perfection and a flavor profile that leaves taste buds dancing with joy. As for the French Dip, its juicy, delectable meat is a testament to the kitchen's dedication to excellence.
No meal at South Beverly Grill is complete without indulging in their Key Lime Pie, a harmonious blend of tartness and sweetness that never fails to leave a lasting impression.
Despite the inevitable wait for a table, the experience at South Beverly Grill is always worth it. This neighborhood gem not only delivers exceptional cuisine but also exudes a sense of warmth and familiarity that keeps patrons like myself coming back time and time again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 25, 2024
We were loyal patrons of South Beverly Grill for years but I think last night will be the last time we dine there. It seems as though this new round of bartenders can't make a good martini to save their life. So I decided to order wine this time. I ordered a Pinot Grigio and instead received a very thick buttery Chardonnay which was far from what I wanted.
While the quality of food has generally stayed the same (for some items) the increase of prices across the board and hidden up-charges has been very disappointing. One of the most egregious things they did in the last year was to remove the baked potato from their menu, which is a STAPLE at any good restaurant.
Houston's which is their "sister" restaurant in Pasadena also removed their baked potato for a short period of time but brought it back when customers complained. Sadly, that is not the case with SBG. In its place they offer the mashed potatoes which I can say are so bland, that I basically had to douse them in salt and pepper and even asked for a side of cheese to make it just the least bit flavorful.
We started with the Osaka sushi and Cesar salad. While the Osaka sushi is always very tasty the Cesar salad left much to be desired. It came mixed with corn, which was very odd and only 3 croutons. I asked for more croutons and was shocked to see that I was charged for these extra croutons upon receiving the bill which they did not mention.
For our entrees we got the New York steak with brussel sprouts and tabbouleh and the ribs with fries. The steak was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The sprouts were soggy and over cooked while the tabbouleh was completely bland. The fries were completely unsalted, barely cooked and tasted similar to a soggy In & Out fry.
Without drinks our meal was $161 before tax. A similar meal at Mastros is $146 and a similar meal at Mussos is $131. While we will miss the atmosphere of SBG the inflated & hidden prices, lack of a good cocktail, and quality of some items has left us with a bad taste and we will gladly spend our money elsewhere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 24, 2024Updated review
I have been a loyal patron of South Beverly Grill for years, and with each visit, I continue to be impressed.
The quality of the food is consistently excellent, and the service is top-notch. On my recent visit, I ordered the cheeseburger, Caesar salad, and spinach artichoke dip, all of which were delicious. The burger was perfectly cooked, the salad fresh and flavorful with amazing croutons, and the spinach artichoke dip is always a must.
The ambiance of the restaurant is also great, making it the perfect spot for a casual yet upscale dining experience. What I like about this place is that they don't have very special dishes, they do classic dishes and do them very very well.
I highly recommend South Beverly Grill to anyone looking for a fantastic meal in a welcoming environment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 17, 2020Previous reviewOne of my favorite go to restaurants. Food quality is always great and the service is fantastic. My favorite is the spinach and artichoke dip and hamburger.

Love the food and ambiance, service is also great. Been coming here for years but the thing I dislike the most is waiting for seating. Last night we waited almost 2 hours for a seat. I was extremely agitated and annoyed. You can sit at the bar as well if spots open up but as soon as we found two seats someone else grabbed it since it was so crowded. I do wish they offered reservations.

We made reservations here before going to a play at the Wallis and were glad we did as it was packed. We got our table and our server, Fallynn, was great! She has a great personality and was very helpful, not only in taking the orders but making changes that our wives requested on their salads and more. We shared we had play tickets and she made sure to be available and give us the bill in the time requested.
We really liked the sushi and my friend really liked his burger. The Jackpot tequila drink was interesting and good.
The food prices are what one would expect in nice Beverly Hills restaurants but not over the top like others.
Our second time there and we'd go again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Jan 21, 2023Previous reviewWe had never heard of this place but a friend told us about the Honor Bar we made reservations and they directed us next door to this restaurant.
We had 5:15 reservations before a play and while the restaurant was packed, had no problem being seated at 5:20.
The decor is really nice and comfortable and Fallynn, our server, excellent.
The portions of sushi and burgers and salads were large and very, very good and we were happily surprised that the prices weren't ridiculously high.
All in all a restaurant the 4 of us would recommend and come back to, with reservations, should we be in Be early Hills.Jun 20, 2017Previous reviewMet a friend I hadn't seen in years last night who suggested we meet here, so we did.
We sat at the bar and couldn't have asked for a nicer or better bartender than Christopher.
Between us we ordered sushi and a fish plate, both of which were very tasty and enjoyable, we were total clean platers.
It took a bit longer than expected for the food to come and the manager apologized before it came and then made sure we enjoyed it - no harm, no foul.
I will say this restaurant is pricier than 95% of those I choose to eat at, but seeing an old friend, the overall atmosphere and Christopher made it a wonderful overall experience. - Apr 25, 2024
One of my go to restaurants in LA! Always consistent, always great service and always delicious. You can't go wrong with any item on the menu. If you love Houston's or Gulfstream (sadly, both closed at the Century City mall), this is their sister restaurant. I've been eating at SBG for years now. One great tip: sit at the bar if you can't secure a prime time reservation. Also, you can make reservations online. I would book a day or two in advance if you want a specific time.

After a long-awaited return to South Beverly Grill and Honor Bar, it's clear why these Beverly Hills staples have earned their reputation. From the impeccable service to the sophisticated ambiance, every detail contributes to a memorable dining experience. Our meal was a symphony of flavors, with highlights including the refreshing ICEBERG WEDGE, indulgent CHEESEBURGER, delicate RUBY RED TROUT, and mouthwatering KNIFE & FORK BARBECUE RIBS--all executed flawlessly. While the DEVILED EGGS didn't quite hit the mark for my palate, they were a hit with everyone else at the table.
P.S. Have you tried anything amazing on their menu? Let me know.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 26, 2023
The Hillstone Group never fails.
South Beverly Grill is no exception to all of their concepts.
The whole experience is always top notch. They think about everything from the music, to the lights, to the temperature of your food.
The staff is buttoned up, helpful, and very professional.
This spot has a wide selection of menu items ranging from sushi to steak.
I always order a martini, and while I am drinking it, if the glass gets even slightly warm, they replace it with a fresh chilled glass.
They have so many little touches like this.
This is why I come here and again and again.
A couple other thoughts:
1- you have never had a better prime rib dip. If you haven't tried it, please do.
2- the sushi is actually really good. There may not be a ton of selection, but the execution is great
3- the artichoke, when in season, is perfection.
3- if you like to people watch, this is the place. Sit at the bar, have a drink and take in all that is LA.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
