We went for the Sunday buffet. The food was all really good and fresh. We got there towards the end of the buffet time and they were still relatively busy and refilling the trays. The buffet is about $15 a person and includes tea and coffee. There was a good selection of items, both vegetarian and non-veg.
Parking is just on the street, we were able to find a spot pretty easily and since it was Sunday it was free. There's also paid parking in the area if none of the street spots are open.
We definitely plan on going back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erin F.HI, HI04May 24, 2023
Absolutely the worst "Indian" food I've ever tried. We ordered chicken tikka masala and beef vindaloo. The meat in both the dishes tasted off, the texture was weird, the tikka masala sauce almost tasted like what you'd get out of a can of spaghettios. The rice was at least a day old. I'm certain none of the food was fresh. The naan bread also had a weird consistency to it. There was no flavor (with the exception of the previously mentioned tomato sauce) to anything. The plus side, we got two bottles of water... between the $56 paid for the food and the $10 we had to pay on parking due to a lack of street parking, we basically paid $33 per bottle of water, as that was the only consumable product we got.
As a side note, we were assured the food was halal; however, absolutely no signage at the restaurant confirming this.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jess R.New York, NY01Nov 4, 2023
I have not lived in Burlington in over 2 years but I think about the food here CONSTANTLY. My favorite item on the menu is the Malai Kofta, I live in NYC and try new Indian restaurants constantly but none even come CLOSE in comparison to the Malai Kofta here. Order it - you'll thank me later. If you eat in the restaurant the staff is very attentive and I have always had good experiences. One day I hope to come back and eat their delicious food again...

The food was wonderful! I can't wait to come back here. The family owned and operated place had a homely feel and they were very friendly.

Tremendous service and delicious, thoughtfully done food. Medium spicy dishes have no detectable heat, so if you want any kick at all, pick the full spice option. Staff didn't know what "vegan" meant but patiently and kindly figured it out and helped us understand the options. Definitely going back!

I've been hunting around Burlington for an Indian place with a good lunch special, and Shalimar has both the best prices *and* the best food of the options I've tried within walking distance of Church St/downtown.
Some other reviews said that the mild was "too mild", so despite being someone who usually gets mild, I went with medium and it was definitely on the upper end of my spice tolerance, so next time I might ask if I can get something between mild and medium.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rebecca O.Mission District, San Francisco, CA08May 26, 2022
Delicious Indian food. I've really liked everything I've ordered here, from the chicken tikka masala to the veggie pakora. It's my go to Indian restaurant in Burlington!

Delicious pakoras, and I love the stuffed naan. Although, make sure to be specific about what you want your naan stuffed with as they sometimes confuse it. Overall, HUGE fan. Super happy about shalimars
