From the second we walked in Chris greeted us with our puppy and immediately asked if he had a treat yet. He then walked us to our table & gave our pup his treat! (I mean come on! Already a fan!)
Madison was our server and she was prompt on bringing us waters while we looked at the menu. She then brought our pup a water bowl to make sure he was comfy (They have a dog menu!! )
The food and drinks were exceptional & the service was great! Amazing experience all around & I hope more people come check it out (:Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 28, 2017
Sandy's is good for a kick back meal on the beach with a few drinks. The food is just decent (It continues to improve), but I don't really come for the food. I come because I want to enjoy my lunch in Huntington Beach on the boardwalk!
The chicken sandwich was fine, the fries crispy. I think I like the huge portions of the grilled fish in the fish tacos the best!
And a nice cocktail is necessary to complete the boardwalk experience!

We went there yesterday after getting a little exercise in walking around. My sister recommended it for Happy Hour and she is a local...it was my 1st time. It is located right by the pier underneath another restaurant (Duke's). We sat on the patio. The decor was nothing special, but I like people watching since the bike path is right next to the patio. I understand the view of the water can also be seen from the patio but not yesterday since the set up for the OP Pro Surfing contest has already begun and is blocking the view (bummer).
-the staff is friendly but a bit slow
We ordered:
*Old School Burger $8 (4.5 stars surprisingly good)
*Steak Flatbread $7 (4 stars large...some in our group thought it was a bit salty...I did not)
*Fish Tacos $8 (3 stars...I did not try this but my niece said they were just average and don't seem like that great of a deal at that price for 2 tacos)
*fries come with the burgers in a cool basket (5 stars...I liked the presentation, it was a large serving, and best of all the taste was awesome)
*Sandy's Margaritas and Breeze (rum with fruit juices) were $5 each and were pretty good...the Margarita was slightly better than the BreezeHelpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Kathy F.Fountain Valley, CA486720Nov 7, 2016
Well, so sad. Sandys was a great find a few months ago. Food was great and location very nice too! However, that was then....and THIS is now!
Today, went for lunch with husband and daughter to celebrate my birthday. Started by going to ladies room! Holy Crap! Disaster zone! I will try to post pics! Zero toilet paper or seat covers! Urine all over the toilets! Sand and apparent pubic hair in sink! Ceiling open and construction tools thrown on floor. During business hours?! I was disgusted and insisted on dragging manager into restroom to show him! He was clearly embarrassed and explained they were "working on air conditioning ". Well I think the Public Health dept should be updated on the state of sanitation at Sandy's! Please be warned! We went to Pacific City for lunch and we were happy.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Susanne D.St. Charles, IL489162304Aug 24, 2016
As Surf City locals, the boyfriend and I made Sandy's our regular lunchtime spot the last few Sunday afternoons in July. The two of us didn't ever not walk right into seats at the bar, the views of the pier and beach are unrivaled and the service is always on point.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the beer-battered green bean appetizer with garlic ranch is fantastic. A must try! With regard to the rest of the menu I wish they'd be more adventurous...I feel like they rely (obviously) on their location too heavily. We've tried quite a few offerings and consistently consider the food here a 3 or 4 out of 5.
C'mon, Sandy's! Take a page out of The Deck's playbook and offer some oysters, offer a high-end grilled cheese! Your burger is good, it could be better. Your seafood stack appetizer is good, set it on some ponzu instead of another sweet element that doesn't compliment the already sweet/mild seafood and avocado. It needs a bite!
I just want to shake this menu up so badly. We love the place and would love to come here every Sunday afternoon, but we're already bored with the limited menu offerings. *sad face*
The dining offerings at newly minted Pacific City have captured our most recent affections, but that's not to say we won't visit Sandy's again for their famous and delicious Mai Tai!Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Jan 10, 2017
Found this restaurant after walking on the Huntington Beach pier and exploring the area. We were shocked how reasonable the prices were for it to be an oceanfront restaurant. Our server Brian was incredible. He suggested multiple local beers for my husband to try based off his likes and preferences. Our food came out fast and both entrees were fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend Sandys to anyone in the area.

My husband and I came for happy hour Friday so this review is specifically for HAPPY HOUR.
The happy hour menu is more limited than I remember from my last visit about a year ago. We were seated right next to the window. The place has the best spot at the beach - right at the sand. I was surprised to see hardly anyone there. Duke's upstairs was packed but this better location was empty. When we arrived, maybe 4 tables on the patio were occupied. WHAT?!
My husband ordered the jalapeno-date burger and liked it. We also ordered the scallops served on yams (not on happy hour) and they were superb. I ordered the happy hour menu's flatbread with steak and boursin. Wow at the garlic taste! It overpowered the steak and cheese flavors. I brought the left-overs home and a few hours later had to toss them. When I opened the fridge, I almost passed out at the garlic smell. I later drank a bottle of water that I took from the fridge and it smelled like garlic. I'm a garlic-lover but that is extreme. My husband stayed clear until the next day.
Although I love the patio area, I probably won't return until the happy hour menu changes. When it does, there may be more options for me that would entice me back.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 6, 2014
This is my go-to spot in the summers. Great beach vibes and awesome food. Must get the sweet potato fries w/garlic aioli and the shrimp/lobster cocktail!
Brad, our server and bartender was amazing! Good energy and made perfect drinks. :)Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nancy D.Westminster, CA161170598Aug 28, 2016
My cousins and I made a reservation for 7pm on a Sat night. We were seated in the patio that overlooks the beach. The patio area was very beautiful, especially at night with the string lights.
Once we were seated our waitress gave us the menus and forewarned us that food might take a little bit longer due to multiple large dinner parties, which sucks but we appreciated the heads-up.
Drinks: Our waitress recommended the mango martini as the most popular drink. We also got the watermelon martini and Duke's mai tai.
* mango martini $11 - vodka with a piece of mango; the mango was too overripe and gave a fishy aftertaste (we told our waitress and ordered something else, they were nice enough to not charge us for it)
* watermelon martini $11 - vodka with watermelon purée; too strong in alcohol, so it wasn't as refreshing as I had hoped for
* Duke's mai tai $11 - Hawaiian juice with rum; again, alcohol content was too strong
Food: We are nibblers so we ordered a bunch of appetizers.
* Ceviche (fish) $12 - comes with tortilla chips to scoop with
* Dungeness crab cake $16 - too salty
* Pacific oysters on half shells $15 for 1/2 dozen - fresh and sweet, but overpriced
* Garlic fried green beans $8.50 - delicious! the batter was so crispy
* Fish and chips $15 - the fish was fried in a really good batter but portion was small for the amount; plus it came with fries instead of chips :/
Overall, food and service were good, drinks were OK but you're paying for the nice scenery and ambiance.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 28, 2010
