Sanders Chocolate & Ice Cream Shops

While in Detroit I was looking for snacks and food only found there. Bumpy cake kept popping up. Nothing about it really interest me, devils food buttercream cake, not too exciting, reminded me of a hostess.

But people kept mentioning how they moved away from Michigan and missed it so much. So I did a quick search on Yelp and found Sanders not knowing they were the ones who created it! While it was good, it did just taste like a hostess cake but what I can't get enough of and wish I bought more of was their milk chocolate peanut butter bunny. Their milk chocolate and peanut is so silky, smooth, rich and creamy. I'm not a peanut butter fan but man their peanut butter will even make jelly jelly!

This chocolate shop is a must stop when in Detroit!

P.S. Sanders is so much better than Sees candy (I think Sees is overrated)

My husband and I live near here and he always asks if we can stop in. I finally gave in and decided to go inside. The last time I was in here was years ago, and everything looks completely different.

We were so excited to see his favorite chocolate was $5 for the big jar. They were on sale due to the expiration date being so close. They had delicious ice cream at the counter too. They let us sample a few and we decided to go with the chocolate and cookie dough. We also got a fresh baked cookie which was delicious. The ice cream was super creamy.

We also walked down the line to see them make the chocolate. They do not allow photos, but it was such a fun experience. A few workers even waved at us too. We had such a fun time. They do have seating so that you can eat your ice cream.

First off... Walking in the doors smells heavenly!

The customer service was great, employees were kind and friendly.

I really appreciated that everything was priced so that there was no confusion.

Quality products that were a delicious surprise for my family! I look forward to returning in the near future.

Came in here to look at chocolate hearts for our wedding favors. Dawn was super friendly and helpful, had some great suggestions and recommendations. We went with the individually wrapped filled hearts and they fit perfect on or gift boxes from Hobby Lobby.

Large selection of candy and baked goods. Cute ice cream counter for sundae's and hot fudge cream puffs! Sooo good! Service attentive.

Found a piece of debris is there product// tried to get a refund and they refused// items extremely over priced and counter staff VERY RUDE!! Shop elsewhere and keep your receipt(s)!! Dissatisfied customer

Oh my... this place is seriously amazing and an underrated GEM! It's really awesome that Detroit, out of all places, has such a sweet place for treats like chocolate and ice cream. I stopped by here while returning home to London, Ontario, Canada on a last minute decision. I didn't even plan on stopping here, I only saw this place after having driven by it. In need of a sweet treat, I decided to check this place out without knowing this place at all, and wow am I glad I did!

They have some of the most delicious ice cream that I have ever had. Very flavourful, and do keep in mind they serve large portions here. You can also get more than one flavour if you so desire, from what I remember correctly.

Service is also excellent here. When I was here the staff were very friendly and professional, and made sure I left with a strong impression of the place. The ambiance is also quite calm which may be nice if you're looking to enjoy your treat in a more quiet kind of place.

There's also a window in the shop that allows you to watch staff make chocolate in a factory, but do note that you're not allowed to take pictures and/or videos of the factory.

What more can I say? Is it not obvious enough that I'll be back here again next time I'm in Metro Detroit?

Won't honor the check in coupon of get a free ice cream cone with purchase. The employees just seem lost and confused, didn't check with anyone to see about the coupon. No worries, literally loads of other places I can spend my money..

Love the bumpy cake ice cream with their delicious hot fudge. Wish they didn't run out of bumpy cake ice cream so often, but I believe it to be a supply chain issue. Thank you

They have discontinued making Sanders Hot Fudge and their cakes are now up to $22.00 each.......

Not sure what to say but very disappointed your not caring the hot fudge topping and even more shocked that those small bumping cakes are so expensive. In this ecconomy no one is going to be able to purchase your produce anyway.

What a shame I'm really missing items I grew up with and can pass onto my kids.
