The dishes we had were pretty good! Great service and atmosphere, had a little trouble finding vegan options though.

Went here and had the SF restaurant week pre-fixe menu and it was fantastic!!! Definitely high end Indian food and a nicely done interior as well. The courses were well spaced throughout the meal and service was efficient and kind.
The nizami sherbet was delicious and had the best presentation with smoke under the cocktail glass.
The amuse bouche bonda and puri were yummy, lots of fresh crab and shrimp in the bonda.
LOVED the gongura shrimp, as a telugu person I loved seeing it on the menu and enjoyed the gongura and spicy flavors. Thought the shrimp could've been cleaned just slightly better but was fresh and still good.
Had the vegetarian keema pav and it was yum. Good texture, well spiced, and enjoyed the sev topping. If you hadn't told me it was impossible meat, I probably wouldn't have realized.
The butter chicken (basic item yes, but yummy) was very well made. The chicken was soft and really well cooked. The star was an absolutely delicious lamb pepper fry, the pepper crust in the lamb was so hard to miss.
Saffron rice was also delicious with strong saffron flavor. Garlic naan was good as well, standard.
I had the coconut leches and it was SO GOOD!! Soft texture, sweet, and fresh coconut tropical flavor. Had a lovely time at rooh!
A little pricey but the portions were large for upscale dining. I had to take a Togo box even.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 44145572May 15, 2024
I came across many websites rating Rooh as one of the best fine dining Indian restaurants in the bay area and after my first visit, indeed it is definitely the best and I want to visit again.
I ended up almost ordering most popular items from the menu.
Dahi puri: 5/5 - I ordered twice
Cashew praline cake: 5/5 - must try
Octopus tandoori: 4/5 - felt bit chewy but taste is good
mushroom chef special- 5/5 - must try
Goat pepper fry- 5/5- nothing special but they nailed it
Butter chicken stuffed egg curry- 4/5 i liked the idea and presentation
Cheese naan: 4/5
I would definitely visit again just for their dahi puri and cashew praline cake. Service was good and it has got the fine dining restaurant ambiance.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mel A.San Francisco, CA273029May 3, 2024
The food was good. We started off with assorted papad with different kinds of dips. It was a great way to start off our meal and try various flavors!
We also chose a small plate of chili paneer cheese puffs which were flavorful. The lamb shank with garlic naan was a great combination.
We sat at the bar and the service was amazing. The bartender was extremely kind and knowledgeable. The artwork inside was beautiful as well!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 16, 2024
Elevated Indian cuisine in SOMA great for large parties. There is the option to order a la carte or select from one of three set menus (ranging $90-$130/person). We had a party of six that night and opted for the "Epicure Set Menu". It was very much worth $105 per person, as the dishes were portioned according to the size of the party (plates were doubled for us at no extra cost). The assorted papads, crisps, dals, rice, and naan were unlimited. All in all, it was an overwhelming amount of food (in the best way possible).
I've included photos of all the items from the set menu below. Standout dishes for me were the masala jackfruit tacos, hemp seed roast cornish hen, dahi puri, traditional butter chicken, and cashew praline cake. These items may be available on their regular menu as well. Overall a solid first dining experience at ROOH, I would come back again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Feb 15, 2024
Came here for a work dinner and really blew my mind. I loved the creativity of the food as well as the flavor. Service was great, informative and attentive for us.
Definitely will be back- cute date night but also works for team dinners as well!
I forgot which set dinner we did but I definitely loved the cocktails and the jackfruit tacos. I've never had jackfruit taste so good like this before!
I also appreciated the portion size of the dessert after all the dishes.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Girish P.Redwood City, CA10123114Mar 31, 2024
Rooh, San Francisco, proved to be a delightful culinary adventure. As early diners, we relished the opportunity to experience the restaurant's offerings in a serene atmosphere, basking in the golden rays of sunlight filtering through the windows. Rooh's dedication to modernizing Indian cuisine while preserving its essence was evident from the outset, promising a journey through a kaleidoscope of flavors and innovative dishes.
We began our gastronomic exploration with the Kulcha Naan, a delightful appetizer that teased our palates with its soft texture and aromatic filling. The Dahi Puri followed, offering a burst of tangy yogurt and spicy chutneys in each crispy shell, accompanied by sips of the refreshing Mango Tango that evoked memories of classic Indian beverages.
The Shrimp Gongura emerged as a highlight, captivating us with its bold flavors and subtle heat, while the Daal Makhani provided a comforting respite with its creamy texture and rich flavors. Although the Dum Aloo fell short of expectations, the Saffron Rice and Garlic Naan complemented the meal adequately, despite the latter being slightly firm.
Overall, our experience at Rooh was a promising one, marked by vibrant flavors, attentive service, and a welcoming ambiance.Helpful 1Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 11, 2024
Our company dinner brought us to this spot where we opted for the set meal. It kicked off with crisps, accompanied by some tasty sauces, although I've enjoyed something more bready instead.
The standout for me was the jackfruit taco--it was surprisingly reminiscent of pork and packed with flavor. I also enjoyed the butter chicken. However, I found the meat portions to be on the smaller side, where we just got one piece per dish. Thankfully, there were plenty of vegetable dishes to fill me up. The desserts were also pretty nice.
Overall, it's a decent spot, slightly on the upscale side. I might give it another shot and choose my own dishes next time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 1232637Feb 10, 2024
Wow, I loved this meal.
In town on a work trip and made a reservation on a Monday night for myself. They gave me three options for seating; I chose to sit in the back where it was quieter.
I ordered the hemp seed Cornish hen, the dahi puri, the green pea kulcha, and the Ramu's fizz for my drink. The kulcha and hen were delicious, but the standout was the dahi puri. Amazing flavors in a light crispy puri. I could've eaten 20 of these. The Ramu's fizz was delicious too. I don't drink much, but I loved how creamy and smooth it was and was glad I picked it.
For dessert, I got the carrot halwa and celeriac panna cotta. It was so unique and delicious! The flavors worked great together. I was also surprised to learn that it was vegan!
The service was awesome too. Everyone who came by my table was super attentive and friendly, but my server, Shannon, was the absolute best.
I loved my experience here and would love to come back with more people next time!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
