Q:
Is Punjabi Dhaba closed? I was in the area today to eat it here but there was no truck. I tried calling the number given but no answer. Kind of disappointed because I was in the area to eat here.
A:
I went there a month ago and the owner was telling me the city would close him temporarily for permit issues. He said he'd figure it out and re-open, so I'm guessing that is why it's closed. Surprised to see it still closed now though

Is it still cash only?

I would visit again when near Bakersfield going to from the Bay area to San Diego. It's a food truck with authentic home-cooked food. Dishes are 13-16$ not cheap (thanks to inflation) but the food is good. There is a low-key seating area where you can eat and take-away containers.
I got the Chole and Chicken Masala - amazing. Dal Malabo not so good.
I would go there again.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 4873232009Dec 30, 2023
5 stars!!! I'm so glad that I took a 10 min detour from I5 to the middle of nowhere for this hidden gem. It's a food truck so you can imagine what the ambiance is gonna be like. But what won me over was the excellent food, fast service and the kind family who were preparing our food. It gave me that warm fuzzy feel of home, if you know what I mean.
We tried Jeera rice, Roti, Shahi mutter paneer and chicken curry. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Roti was soft and perfect for my kiddos. We requested Shahi mutter paneer with zero spice and it was super kid friendly. My kids loved the roti and soft paneer combination.
Chicken curry was spicy with an aromatic blend of spices! Just perfect with that Jeera rice.
Very satisfying meal. I haven't had this good Indian food in Bay Area. Highly recommended!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Mimansha B.San Francisco, CA7065126May 18, 2024
Good quality home style food with amazing taste.
The owners are very nice and welcoming and there is an AC room alongside the truck to sit and eat on sunny hot days.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Raymond B.Salinas, CA72153Apr 25, 2024

Stopped here based on a friend's recommendation, I drove by it twice trying to find it as the food truck is located on the back of the lot. Very friendly service, I ordered the dhal makhani and butter chicken with butter naan. Food came out relatively quick and prices were relatively fair (it is cash only so be prepared for that). Food was amazing! Also, got the masala cha which was really good.

I saw a review of this place in New York Times and I had to try it. We recently stopped by this place on our way to LA. The food was great. Their chapati, Saag Paneer and chicken curry was awesome. We also ordered their tea which was also well prepared. You need to pack some patients when you visit this place. They are very busy during lunch time and the staff work very hard to get the orders out as soon as possible.
I was amazed how good the food was given that they are running this place from a food truck. I would highly recommend this place when you are driving down to SoCal.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sep 11, 2023
Omg are you serious! Punjabi home food in the middle of nowhere! The lassi out of this world not overly sweet just right! The grandma is making the parathas n rotis at the back. Non of the food was overly greasy. The curry and dhal tasted very naturally flavored. Friendly service. Again don't expect fancy. This is good ol st food vibes but clean! If you are nearby do the detour totally worth it!

This food truck is hidden behind Harvest Steakhouse, and it's worth the find! It's cash only, and the food is incredible.
We made a pit stop on a trip from SoCal to NorCal. Again, worth the detour. We ordered the stuffed parantha plate (it might be called aaloo mix parantha), shahi mattar paneer (cottage cheese cubes and peas), roti, and mango lassi. Highly recommend all of them for 2 people. It was the perfect amount. We can't wait to stop by again!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1 - Virenderjit S.Downtown Lincoln, Lincoln, CA02May 3, 2024
Nice food and cooked in small portions, so it tastes fresh and quick service with clean dining room

Friend of mine recommended this place, so we took a short detour from driving up the 5 freeway for this stop. This place was not easy to find - it was a white food truck by a house situated behind harvest steak house. Seems like they added an indoor A/C seating recently as well.
We were excited to try out the food, and we ordered a stuffed parantha, Shahi Mattar paneer, roti, and of course a mango lassi. Let me just say this: THE. FOOD. WAS. BOMB. I want to go back and try everything on the menu. Probably shouldn't have ate so much during a road trip, but I couldn't help it.
If it wasn't so far, I'd be back in a heartbeat. This will definitely be my go-to spot for Indian food. Every time I make that trek between NorCal and SoCal, you bet I'll be here.
Note: this place is CASH ONLY. I also didn't see a restroom available, so I bought a to-go coffee at the harvest steak house (it said customers only).Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
