Loved my experience with Poway Honda! Mickey Perez was kind enough to even come in on his day off to help me purchase the used car that I wanted! Very helpful staff and not pushy like most dealerships. Can't thank them enough!

I hold a very negative opinion regarding new car dealers (both for sales and repairs).
In short, it's a dirty rotten business full of liars, scoundrels, and incompetents.
Hondas and Toyotas are the best products for the money, but the
people who sell them are mostly awful.
Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus offer top of the line cars. Their practices are much better than other brands. Still, buying one of their cars is still risky. Those dealers have extracting as much money as they can from each deal down to a science. I'd guess only half of those dealers are dangerous to deal with.
HOWEVER - HERE'S A GOOD TIP.
POWAY HONDA IS BETTER THAN ANY HONDA DEALER IVE COME ACROSS!
In particular, Sales Manager, Niki Chriss is exceptional!
I leased a new Accord EX in late October 2023 and found her to be honest, well organized, and straightforward.
If you want to buy or lease a new Honda, CALL AHEAD and make an appointment to meet with her. Be on time. Be fair. And be respectful, and chances are you will be very pleased with your visit.
Niki is in a class by herself. Just deal with her. Nobody else!
Don't just walk on the lot and start talking with a random sales person. That's not a good strategy for success. You'll regret it!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at Poway Honda!
Feb 28, 2024Previous reviewCame by today to say "hi" to my stellar sales person Nikki (misspelled earlier).
What a great gal! Smart and articulate with superb people skills. You could meet 100 car sales people or managers and not encounter anyone half as nice as Nikki.
For example - she volunteered to put my new license plates on. I'm very arthritic and even a simple task like that could set me back days with aches and pains.
Nikki found the necessary tools in the service department and took care the chore in a flash.
Thank you Nikki. You are exceptionally competent and kind!Jan 12, 2024Previous reviewMs. Nicki Chriss. Sales Manager at Poway Honda. Remember that name. Don't just drop in. Make an appointment to have her take care of you when you get there. You won't be disappointed.
Let me preface my review by saying that I've always thought that the auto business in the United States is the dirtiest, most rotten business there is. Especially the used and new car sales side. I believe that close to 90% of the people in it are crooks.
Mercedes, Lexus, and BMW are much better. Only 50% of the salesmen people and sales managers are crooks.
How can I be sure? I took a sales job at a large corporate MB dealership 20 years ago. It was an honest-to-God set price dealership with relatively high ethical standards.
There was still a lot of sleazy stuff going on. I left after a year because I was diagnosed with cancer. Fifteen months later, after I had recovered my good health, the sales manager refused to let me return. It was no big loss really.
Which brings me to Honda and Toyota. Great cars. Really the smartest choice for rational decision makers. Unfortunately, and for reasons I can't explain, the sales side of those brands is totally corrupt. And their "finance" departments totally focused on getting customers to buy over priced non essential crap they don't need and or pay a higher interest rate on purchases and leases.
My advice -- buy NOTHING IN FINANCE. Arrange your purchase financing in advance at your bank or even better, your credit union. In the majority of cases, those will be your best deals. Best leases are available through the dealer. Just make sure you are placed and charged in the credit tier you deserve. Know your credit rating before you go car shopping.
So, what do you do in this landscape of liars and thieves? Well, when you want to buy or lease a new Honda in San Diego, there is an oasis of integrity in Poway at Poway Honda. More specifically, there is one person to deal with who will not cheat you or pull some kind of dishonest stunt.
Ms. Niki Chriss. She's the person you want to deal with. Call her up and explain what you are looking for whether you are ready to buy or lease immediately OR just trying decide what you want.
DO NOT JUST WALK INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND LET ANY RANDOM SALES PERSON ENGAGE WITH YOU!
Why? Because when you start to work with Niki later on, she will have to split her commission with the person you first spoke to. That's just the rule in the car business.
Call and speak with Niki on the phone. She is smart, honest, and has excellent communication skills.
Niki will have every thing set up for you when you get to your appointment. It will save you lots of time and stress.
Buying a new car should be enjoyable. It's usually not because car salespeople and their managers are devious manipulating creeps. That's why as a rule I can't stand car salespeople.
But Niki stands out as an intelligent, ethical exception.
Other tips. Know your credit score. BE ON TIME. Be respectful.
Niki will do a great job for you, if you let her. It's a tough business. Don't make her work for half pay. Tell her you read Peter's review and that's why you picked her to work with. - Carol C.San Diego, CA123143Mar 1, 2024
Visited Poway Honda today with hubby, (pulling in in our late model Honda CR-V, looking to purchase another brand new one) and was met outside by 'Ben'. We asked Ben to show us some front wheel drive
CR-V EX-L models, which are the top of the line for that model. Ben showed us a CR-V, and while we were sitting in it, I asked if it was a front wheel drive. He proceeded to tell me it was a REAR wheel drive, which Honda does not even make. I then asked him about average gas milage for the vehicle, and he did not know. I then asked him to show me how the back seats fold completely flat, and he said they did not (they most certainly do) and lastly I asked him why the ($40k) vehicle did not have a cargo cover in the back (which is STANDARD on all EX-L models) and he told me I could order one.
At no point did he ever ask if we wanted to take a test drive, and he said he has NO business cards on him when hubby asked.
We CLEARLY knew more about the vehicles Ben was selling then Ben did.
We left Poway Honda and immediately drove to another local Honda dealership and purchased a EX-L for cash, we just got home with the vehicle.
I can not stress enough how embarrassingly incompetent and unprofessional Ben was.
"Salesmen" like this that have ZERO knowledge of the vehicles they are attempting to sell should not be let loose to greet customers looking at $40,000 vehicles. Epic fail, Ben , and Epic fail Poway Honda for wasting our time with such ridiculously incompetent sales people.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 24, 2024
This place is ok, but in the end I didn't end up buying from them. They had the car model that I wanted, but it wasn't the color I wanted. Fine. However, the process of knowing WHEN they'd get the color car I wanted was like pulling teeth. First, they told me what cars they had and when they were expecting their next batch of cars. I wasn't interested and asked if they expect to get the color I specifically wanted. Sales guy goes to his manager. Takes about 15 minutes. Comes back to me and shows me what they can expect within the next couple weeks. Ok. Can I get information for the next 6 months? Sales guy goes back to his manager. Another 15 minutes. Comes back and shows me what he can get for the next month. That doesn't answer my question. Give me what you expect to get in the next 6 months. Sales guy leaves again and makes me wait for 15 minutes. By this point we were at the dealership for an hour just sitting around. What. The. ****. Finally he gives me the actual list of cars he expects to get but he has his manager come out with him and both of them try to push me into getting the car that I just test drove because it's already there and I enjoyed it. Sure, that's all good but that car is not what I want! This has got to be one of the most unpleasant sales experiences I've had. When I went to other dealerships, the salesmen had no issue telling me when they'd get certain car models over the YEAR.
The only reason I'm not giving this place a 1 or 2 star is because they let me test drive the car by myself and they offered us water. Also it was easy to call them up and make an appointment within 24 hours. And honestly I would have given a higher rating if they had been straightforward and honest from the get-go, but their sales tactic of making me wait in order to push a sale on me made me more annoyed and frustrated than wanting to work with them. I ended up going to DCH Mission Valley instead and buying my car through them.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jan 15, 2024Updated review
Want to thank the sales and service team at Poway Honda for their exceptional service and GOING THAT EXTRA MILE , hahaha ! In everything they do . This is our second time purchasing with them , no one can match their pricing and 1-2-3 easy steps . Service is great with a fast turn over and following up , I never feel I have to chase down our service advisor .
I believe they just got a new General Manager , Camie Perez who came out to the show room during our purchase , she personally introduced herself and welcomes my husband and I . That kind of customer service is on heated of these days .
Thank you Poway Honda!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I went into Poway Honda looking for a reliable used car and walked out with a brand new Honda Civic Touring at a competitive price. I was referred to Gary Lobel by a friend of mine and he did not disappoint. From start to finish Gary listened to my concerns, let me test drive multiple vehicles, gave me a breakdown of all the car's features, got me a great price on my trade in, and overall was so patient and kind throughout the entire process. It was my first time buying a new vehicle so I was a little nervous on what to expect but Gary and Ryan took me through the financial process with ease and in a timely manner. I will definitely be recommending more friends and family to come to this dealership specifically to see Gary. Gary, if you read this- thank you so much for being awesome and making sure I was taken care of with my new car. P.s. I love it

This review is from parts and service. Specifically for Gary. I've been in hospitality operations for almost 20 years. Sometimes I have a hard time "switching off" when I'm out and about. When I checked in my car I noticed how super helpful and personable Gary was. As I was waiting for my car I see Gary inside the waiting area and he's making sure the waiting area is clean and tidy, restocking the fridge, making popcorn and all the while he's engaging with the people waiting. He even filled a couple of popcorn bags for people who were waiting for the fresh popcorn. You can tell that Gary takes pride in his work. As an operator, and someone who works with the general public I'm always paying attention to people like Gary. Keep up the great work sir!
