I see there is outdoor seating. Are dogs welcome?
A:
Yes! We have two outdoor seating areas. The first is upstairs on our rooftop deck and the other is downstairs on our covered patio. Both allow service dogs!

Visiting family in the area and decided to go for brunch. We didn't need a reservation as the restaurant was almost empty around 11am on Sunday. My favorite part of the meal was the truffle honey frites. The honey was a subtle and delicious touch on regular french fries. These did get my hands sticky, but well worth it. The rest of what we ordered was good, but nothing special.
On a nice day, I'd recommend eating on the roof, which has a much better ambiance than indoors.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 21, 2021
After reading the Yelp reviews we were really excited for our dinner.
We had reservations - through Resy Reservations that I had to register for and put my card info in should I no show or cancel before 24 hours. But yet, I'm holding onto the Yelp reviews and the online menu. So already- a barrier to dine on a Saturday night at 7:30 for a party of 6. However, the Resi site gave me options If we wanted outdoor/patio dining or dining room/ bar dining.
When we checked in we were told we couldn't dine in the dining room- as we requested...and were seated in the bar area. It was loud but we were excited. We had scanned the menu. And then we waited. After a while someone from the party went to the hostess ajd asked us if we could sit in the dining room. To which she said there was a party. So we all wondered why it gave us this option in resi. ?? So we waiting some more till we had to go to the hostess and ask if we could be seen. To which she responded to running to the back of the bar/kitchen area. Then the bartender came and she apologized awkwardly.
We got drinks- basil lemonade had promise but couldn't finish it as it tasted rotten. Poor bartender didn't have a tray so she literally was bringing 2 drinks per trip plus water. You do the math on the trips to our table but it was painful and comical.
We got a meat and cheese platter appetizer- very good. Although we weren't given appetizer plates. So we literally ate like savages.
Meals were mixed. Shrimp tacos as a meal were great. 2 hamburger and fries which were loved. 2 steak frites where the fries were seasoned amazingly well and the NY Strip was bland and rubbery. Worst was we had Someone order the summer pasta who had an allergic reaction. She asked if there was nuts in it- the bartender checked and said no. She said it looked like there was a bit of pesto in it. She took one bite and boom! We needed to go. The rest of us non allergic folks tAsted it ans there was definitely a weird taste to the past.
So we grab the check worn one of our party members looped up on Benadryl. She and her boyfriend were from Richmond and as we walked out they both said- scratch this off the list.
Overall, I was torn between 2-3 stars. I won't go back. I am shocked at the high rating- as I didn't feel it. At. All.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 20, 2022
We went to dinner before a show at the Altria theater. We hit traffic and were 15 'minutes late. Called to let them know and they were very gracious. The food came out fast and was tasty. The server was very good. If the weather permits the rooftop is a nice place to dine.

We came here after our reservation for 8 was lost at another near by spot. I called and asked if they could accommodate 8 for brunch and was immediately met w kindness and " we can do that, come whenever" we walked in and were seated right away. The cocktail menu was awesome! The brunch menu had so many vegan and other dishes that honestly made it hard to chose because everything looked so good! We ordered from the full spectrum of beers, cocktails and wine and everyone was impressed! The food was unreal!!!!! So yummy, the flavors were on point and the portions were generous! The service was great and I will definitely be going back here! Thank you for a lovely start to our day!

Came here for a quick, late night dinner and decided to sit on the rooftop patio since it was nice out. I was impressed with the relaxed yet prompt service. I was impressed by their expansive drink menu. I decided to try the Postbellum Punch, which I highly recommend. It was perfectly sweet without overpowering the alcohol. I really enjoyed the truffle honey frites (aka french fries) as well. The sundried tomatoes and toasted almonds elevated the salad from your average house salad. I will defintely be back.

Service: We came for brunch and were seated promptly. The weather was nice and, since it was still COVID times, we opted to sit outdoors. Service upon sitting outside was slow, so we considered if we had been forgotten a few times.
Food: My food portions were sizable although still pricey in my opinion. The fries were probably the best item that we got. My pancakes were relatively unremarkable - met my needs but average. My dining partner enjoyed the vegan biscuits and gravy, but I thought it had a funny aftertaste.
Ambiance: Few diners for a weekend brunch earlier in the year, so we didn't have a long wait. We were the only diners seated on the patio, so it's difficult to speak to the rest of the diners or the indoor experience. The architecture gives it a bit of a grand Southern feel on the patio.
Value: Not a bad spot for ok dining options. I was underwhelmed but my dining partner thought it was decent.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 2, 2020
It was a jumping Wednesday night at Postbellum on the 19th of February. Over half the patrons were eating here before hitting up the Altria to see The Tedeschi Trucks Band. My party was no exception. The place was crazy hopping so the service suffered a little but not so much for a lack of hustle rather just too much going on. They had Falcon Smash on tap so that should award this place 5 stars alone. The noise in here of deafening. Our table was basically yelling at each other.
For food I ordered the Beer Burger: 7 Hills beef, beer mustard, pimento cheese, bacon, beer glazed onions, Root Stock Provisions brioche. It was absolutely fantastic and total gut bomb. Pimento cheese melted on a burger might be my new favorite thing. Suffice it to say, after eating that monster, a Falcon Smash, and all those fries I was ready for a nap not a concert.
My party finished our shouting match, settled up, and hit Main Street. Postbellum has a lively energy and delicious food so if I'm in the area I would definitely dine here again.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - David J.Midlothian, VA176236482Apr 19, 2022
We normally cook for Easter but no one was up for it after the week we all had, and no one wanted to clean up after the kitchen destruction that takes place when I cook.
Finding a spot for the entire family can be tricky with 2 strict Vegan daughters, 1 mildly picky niece, and the remaining daughter and we are voracious carnivores.
I usually let the Vegans choose, and honestly, they've not disappointed yet.
POSTBELLUM was perfect. We got there way too early, so we thoroughly enjoyed their rooftop bar area.
We enjoyed some nice cocktails, then went back down for our rezzie. Kat took amazing care of our party of 6.
I ordered 2 of their pickle pots for the table. I could've eaten 1 of these delicious mason jars all by myself. I love and always go for in house pickled anything, and from the flavors, these are definitely made by the team here.
My daughters thoroughly enjoyed their Vegan "wings." I'm not a fan of eating much soy based stuff, but whatever was used, the cook hit it outta the park with the flavors at least in the bite I was allowed to try.
Other dishes my family enjoyed were the fried chicken biscuit with fantastic fries, that apparently had been dusted with an addictive substance, as well as the vegan tacos.
I felt like my dish was the "pièce de résistance." The whole steak for brunch or breakfast can get weird, as in my experience it's seldom executed to my liking. Either I get over cooked steak, or yolks on eggs that needed just 1 minute less cooking time. In this case, what came to my table was perfect. Perfectly seared and subtle crust on the steak and medium rare to rare on the inside, with to sunny side eggs that I promptly cut into, to allow God's perfectly designed gravy, to combine with the green almost pesto topping, to bless that steak. I almost said grace twice.
Great cocktails, atmosphere, and food.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 3, 2021
Great roof top atmosphere! Lots of tables and a covered bar. Menu has lots of offerings-I got shrimp tacos which had great flavor and were a perfect portion. Lots of beers and multiple cider options on draft-including a blackberry flavored downtown East cider.

Awesome gluten free brunch options!
Our first visit was a huge success from the friendly and personable service to delicious and plentiful gluten free brunch options for our celiac family members.
We ate on the rooftop deck while we enjoyed an excellent playlist of musical selections from the likes of Talking Heads, Echo and the Bunnymen, Davis Bowie, Brian Eno, The Strokes, and even my Bloody Valentine. Tasty food and discerning music. Yum!
Each of these brunch items were exceptional:
"Elotes" Fritters GF - my personal favorite
Shrimp & Grits GF
Steak & Eggs GF
Heirloom Tomato Salad GF
Shrimp Tacos GF
Brioche Cinnamon Bun not-GF
Definitely will be back when in Richmond!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
