Q:
Do they use MSG?
A:
Not to my knowledge. My husband and I are both migraine sufferers and neither of us have ever gotten a headache eating here for several years. We don't taste MSG or have any ill side effects

This place is almost 5 stars! I ordered standard pho tai nam and the noodle came almost perfect. This place really would be perfect pho place except for very minor stuff. But all those minor things add up.
HOWEVER, the pho was fantastic! Meat was tender raw and soft and broth is so delicious bone broth. Could be the best broth I ever had!
Few minor things were: table clean up was loudly disturbing, bean sprouts could be cleaner, menu items could have better photos, etc.
I need to try other items, but this would be best pho place inside of New Orleans hands down!
Parking is limited around the shopHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Aug 29, 2020Previous reviewNice little place with good pho. forgot to take a photo of my order, but It was good, soup base is more on the spice/ sauce side than bone broth but still rich in flavor. Bean sprouts, lime and basil leaves were plenty and clean. Not bad for decent pho, and there was plenty of people in for pickup as proof.

Small, dingy, no Tofu available like other locations for people who don't eat meat, offered no ice cup, only bottled water, hot lemonade. Only good for a quick bite. No ambience or good service. Bathrooms located through dirty storage. Other 3 locations much better, especially West Bank.

For the price and quality of food I think this place is five stars for sure. The service is nice and quick, it's a little hole in the wall location but endearing, and they have been around for a long time. You can't beat them for value and taste! The pork banh mi is so good, the pho broth is amazing, and I love the Chanh Muõi when it's cold!! We also love the fried spring rolls and number 24 Bún Chá Giò Thit Nuöng, support local!

Pho and beef stew (bo kho) is soo good here! We came here Thursday around noontime. Very good price for a large bowl of pho. I never get large, but we all had to get it. A lot of toppings in there. Service was ok. They also have the onion in vinegar sauce. Indoor dining only.

The pho taste is ok but is not hot enough. I think they overcharged us for the hot tea--a tiny teapot enough for two tiny cups costs us $4. They also calculated tip on the tax. If I go back to this restaurant again, I will not order tea and reduce the amount of tip

The com Bo Luc Lac is beef tips over white rice with tomatoes and cucumber to dip in rich sauce. Very good!!!! If you like steak, you will love this dish. The service was very nice. The food came out pretty quick. Nice mid sized restaurant with old style. Will be going back.

6 years later and still my favorite pho spot!
Not much has changed since my last review. It's still not fancy, but I love that about this little restaurant - coming here feels like home. If you're looking for a more modern feel then you should visit the Pho Bang near Bonnabel- but just a heads up, the pho is better at this location.
They did add banh mi to the menu! They're prepared using fresh bread from Dong Phuong, and y'all know what that means.. these little sandwiches taste AMAZING. The grilled shrimp banh mi is my go to, and it's easily my new favorite item on their menu. However you still can't go wrong with #18 or #31. As always, the iced coffee is a must have and I rarely leave without getting one. And of course, my kids favorite thing about visiting the restaurant is the complimentary suckers at the cash register.
Absolutely worth a visit if you're in Metairie, or worth a special trip if you're feeling like you need some soul healing (in that case, #18 is the way to go).Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Feb 18, 2015Previous reviewMy absolute favorite pho place!
I stop by here for to go at least once a week. The ingredients are always fresh and the food is delicious. While I have tried pho from several local places, I have yet to try a broth that can compete with Pho Bang! The spring rolls, the cubed steak (#31), and the grilled shrimp (#25) are other great options.
Try it! You won't be disappointed! - Rebecca F.Metairie, LA63099Jan 22, 2023
Best pho broth of all time. I get this at least once a week. The beef round is my favorite but everything is delicious and it's so reasonably priced

No Lily's Cafe, but the best I've found in Jefferson parish. The prices are good and the rice noodles are cooked perfectly. Broth of the pho is good. A little bit of a clove/ginger taste to it. Healthy amount of protein added. Giving it 4 instead of 5 stars, just because the Vietnamese egg rolls were a little on the soggy side. Needed hotter oil and less time in the grease.
