This review is on behalf of my mother, Lenore. She had such a great experience recently at Old John's- it just reopened recently and she says it was very special. The menu, the service and the food was all perfect. The manager Ruben, is eager to please and went above and beyond to make sure they were comfortable. There is a little closed safe indoor/ outdoor cabanas. They are heated and cozy. This is a great addition to the neighborhood!

I had mac and cheese and it was good.
When I walked in, a staff member asked "can I help you?" which kind of felt a little rude since I had reservations--but I think he was just very busy. Everyone else was super nice though.
Ambiance is a cute old New York diner. There are cocktails and diner-food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 20, 2024
Great neighborhood spot with standard fare. Definitely a spot worth checking out for breakfast/brunch. They are currently renovating/expanding part of their dining area so ESPRESSO DRINKS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I would call ahead to see if they're back on the menu if it's a deal breaker for you.
Good variety of food and super quick service no matter how packed it may be. They are also fairly accommodating if you need to adjust/remove an item from a dish or two.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 47219362Mar 9, 2024
Incredibly disappointing. So much potential but they blew it in every category.
I'll give it an A for ambiance -- great small coffee shop with neighborhood feel. Friendly waitstaff... that disappeared (getting that third cup of coffee was nearly impossible... and don't even start with me about my caffeine intake).
Food could have been good, but my omelet was cold (and poorly prepared at that -- asparagus goat cheese omelette and the thick asparagus was basically cut in half with the logs laid in the cheese), home-fries were cold.. and did I mention I couldn't find a waiter to get a refill on my coffee?
Bright spot: Good rye toast with an interesting tall format.
I may give them another chance, but with so many similar restaurants around the area, unless you need to be on the block, I say pass.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 19, 2024
The food here is better than standard diner fare. We had the patty melt, onion rings, and turkey club. The onion rings are lightly battered and seem house made. The turkey is piled high and the ciabatta bread is a nice way to elevate a club sandwich. The patty melt hit the spot despite being a little on the greasy side. We didn't experience any of the service hiccups that some mention. Currently they are expanding into the space next door so I'm curious to see how that pans out.

After a long wait, finally managed to get reservations for a Monday afternoon and even then it was busy. We were brought to the back and situated in a corner table. The seats are pretty tight, so beware.
We ordered the fish and chips and grilled salmon for entree and a malted black and white milkshake, which was the star of the meal. The fish and chips weren't as crisp as I'd like and actually borderline soggy. The salmon was well cooked..and lets just say, not my cup of tea.
This was a nice experience while feeling like we've gone back in time. I'd definitely come back for the milkshake and possibly order breakfast next time, as the entree was a tad disappointing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Xin W.Claremont, CA35575Mar 5, 2024
Came here with a friend for brunch, and it was slightly better than the average diner experience.
We sat outside after a 30 minute wait, and the service was good. The outdoor cubicles were nice and private. The coffee was average. I got the beef and hash, which was somewhat lacking in flavor but cooked well. My friend got an egg sandwich that she really enjoyed.
Overall, it was a pleasant time and I would come back if friends picked it as an option.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 24516222779Oct 23, 2023
A perfect 3.5, I was excited to visit this restaurant after seeing a video of it on YouTube and seeing all the amazing food this restaurant has to offer.
The portions are decent for a diner, but are pretty pricey. The fish and chips are tasty and it comes with more than enough "chips", but I would like them to come with a bit more than just vinegar and tartar sauce. Ketchup does not work on me.
The chocolate shake is an $8 ripoff. Hand spun and fresh, it is super small. Four sips in and I was finished. I feel cheated that I ordered this.
One thing I heard is how amazing the pancakes are here, as they make a recipe for them distinctive to this restaurant. I almost ordered these as a second option, but figured to let it go and wait to have them for another visit.
If there is one big takeaway from this review, it is not to go fancy, but stick to simple principles and you will be satisfied with the food.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 2 - Aug 5, 20234 check-ins
Had a quick lunch with friends at Old John's Diner while in the area. Service was good and food came fairly quick. Wasn't too crowded with options to sit inside or outside. Come early if you don't want a long wait.
Food we had was good - Bacon and egg sandwich, two eggs scrambled with homefries and toast and western omlette with toast plus beverages.
Variety of food to select from the menu - there are brunch specials as well They also have brunch cocktails.
Will come back when in the area.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Apr 8, 20241 check-in
Super cute diner with a warm charming interior and decor. All the decorations from the ice cream sign in the back to the menus were crafted with such detail. Got the crispy chicken sandwich (fries were an additional cost). Overall very good sandwich with a juicy chicken patty in a very light and crispy crust. Sandwich was generously sized. Fries were ok, not crispy and a little more on the soggy side if anything. Friendly service. They also had really nicely decorated outdoor booths that seat around four people each, and each booth had its own AC unit.

Great old school dinner. Loved my turmeric latte and my mushroom omelette wasn't overcooked but nice and moist. Great atmosphere. Good local place.
