We headed to Los Algodones for the morning and stopped at the casino for lunch. Quechan Casino (called the Q to make it easier) is owned by Quechan Tribe. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating, considering they have the buffet in it as well. There were only a few people in there when we went in for lunch.
Esperanza, our server, was wonderful. She was nice and professional. She answered questions knowledgeably about the menu and took our order. She made us feel welcome and made us happy to return to the Q Casino and Ocotillo Cafe.
The Ocotillo Cafe was closest to our entrance so we went in. They have daily specials was $6.95 and today's was hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes & gravy. The sandwich looked unusual when it was dropped off but I'm glad I got a photo then because my husband inhaled it. The mashed edge house made, the bread was very good and a tasty, thick slice of turkey covered with good gravy.
They also have a soup and salad bar special for $5.25 for one trip and $8.95 for all you can eat. They give you one small salad plate and a small cup for soup. If you want more, they will bring you new dishes and you pay the all you can eat price. It was plenty of food for me for lunch. There were good selections of prepared salads, greens, veggies, toppings and salad dressings. There were two soup options that day-chicken noodle and cream of broccoli. The chicken noodle had a too strong flavor of sage-I like sage but it was too much. We asked for the check and it was only $13.27!
We decided since we were in the area on occasion, to get a Player's Card. You get $5 free play (for $1 activation) so we played our free play off and took our $10.90 and left while we were ahead. That almost paid for our $13 lunch!
They have a Seafood Buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. We may have to drive the hour to try it.
I recommend the Quechan Cafe. Amazing prices and good food. Ask for Esperanza!Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - Elisa J.Mesa, AZ5611Jan 7, 2022
the buffet was smaller than most casinos but the food was better than others. they had prim rib, flank steak, pork chops and grilled chicken. a salad bar with soup along with some family favorites. there was a variety of fried seafood, which some were over cooked. the restuarant was clean and the servers were attentive and friendly.

I figured a casino hotel would have a better café/buffet but not. Stopped in here with the parents on a weekend road trip. The service was very good, worth the extra star, but the food was not that great. When we walked up, the hostess asked if the buffet was ok for lunch, and I thought why not. The selection was mostly breakfast items and it was around 1pm. The lunch selection was pretty much mediocre. The best offering was the dessert bar. Compared to other casino/hotel buffets, this was not great. I am not sure if they have the patronage to support a daily buffet or if they upgraded the café as an after thought. The place has potential considering its location to the highway and the volume of travelers through the area.

Poor Poor service! We have been coming to the hotel for years and today we figured as a family try a new restaurant. Terrible service, from the beginning our server was giving us the cold shoulder. We were lost in what we had done or what had happened previously and as our time passed by, the children were asking for refills but never got any, simply being told "In a Minute" and never came. Terrible Terrible Service, our waitress (Amanda) didn't have the courage to serve us, instead we were treated with excellent service by the bus boy and we thank him for his service and his willingness to make sure we had a good experience.
Towards the end, after waiting for refills and the check, we were falsely accused of taking her tips at a near by table. In a state of confusion, we were lost and assured her we would not have taken her tips then she mentions the table next to us who was also in our party and accuses them too of possibly taking her tips. Her customer service was thrown out the window, others who sat around us were in awe of the commotion and couldn't understand why she had done this. Words were exchanged and finally the dispute was over. With our children in a fragile state and asking for calmness, we were thrilled to finally speak to a manager, share our experience and resolve this issue.
The food was descent, just our service was poor and we feel disrespected. Management should step up and take action on "Amanda" and look at the footage and see we are not in the wrong.
As a regular at Quechan, we were having a great time this weekend, however after this incident we are sure they have lost our interest in this restaurant and possibly this hotelHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - ECch I.Calexico, CA727723Feb 17, 2017

On a Friday morning they had three hostesses to seat people they make such a big procedure to seat people like it so hard to read the mapping area for the restaurant my God manager of this café needs to take hold and do something either put these hostesses to work there. They're saying they don't have the waitress staff to be able to seat people well then one of the three get your Rivers out and start serving food my God slows service I've ever had at any restaurant especially on a Friday!!!! Once you get seated the food is excellent and the waiters waitresses are excellent watch out for the host.

My Mom and I were traveling and stopped in to grab a bite to eat. We ordered the ribs plate and it was excellent! The Manager, Arnold, came over to greet us and he could not have been nicer! Given many of the winter visitors have left, Arnold was able to spend a little time with us as the restaurant was not too busy @ 3pm. Arnold was engaging and definitely receptive to their Customers are not only enjoying their meal but if the staff is providing good service. To Arnold, Customer Service is #1! Our Waitress was Rosie and she as excellent as well! Very attentive and accommodating! We highly recommend Octotillo Cafe if you are traveling from or to San Diego you make this a stop on your trip! Definitely a very nice and having a sit down meal provides a good break in driving.

Amazing fish tacos! Generous portions for all dishes. Our server, Alex, went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect and was so friendly and personable. My son's steak was good quality and my aunt's salmon filet was juicy and fresh. Veggies that came with were all fresh too. Delightful meal at a great price.

We have had Thanksgiving Dinner at this cafe for the past few years and it has always been excellence.....not this year. The Turkey looked to be processed meat, the dressing was big gobs of bread that you had to cut with a knife, the mashed potatoes were thin and watery, the pumpkin pie had the texture of gelatin. This restaurant raised the prices and lowered the quality.....all of the signs of a business in financial trouble. We will not be going back.
