I am from Deerfield Beach Florida. I have been a full time resident of Banner Elk for nine years. I fell in love with Banner Elk after vacationing here for many years. In Florida my husband David and I owned an agency for Allied Van Lines in Pompano Beach Florida called Browning-Treyz Moving & Storage Co.

Ok so you don't really go here for the food so much as you do for the location and to go drinking with your friends. As they say in Banner Elk "It's a drinking town with a skiing problem." It's your typical dark little bar and grill that has several types of sandwiches and a few different plates.
I can say that the "Hot Diggity Dog" is ok. Its a big hotdog all the way loaded with melted shredded cheese on top. The Chicken Bacon Swiss sandwich is pretty good. All of the sandwiches come with a side of potato chips so if you want fries or slaw or something else there is an upcharge. Not really a place that I would purposely go to eat again, but in Banner Elk when its not the peak season you never know what's going to be open or closed. So go for the beer specials they have every day of the week.
PS...a tip from a local "whatever you do...don't get the fish."Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kaleb D.Hamptonville, NC7641Jan 5, 2019
Overall experience was terrible! Server was inattentive and took 20 minutes to get our drinks. Our burgers were raw and underdone. The chicken was burnt to a crisp. Server never once refilled our drinks. Definitely would NOT recommend this place.

Food absolutely bland.
Overpriced for what you're getting.
The only thing that was wonderful was our waitress. She was great.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Zeze W.Sugar Grove, NC192Sep 24, 2018
Decent restaurant to watch football on sunday. They have the nfl sunday ticket so any game you want is on. The food is ok. Not great but good for what you pay for. Service was attentive with a good overall atmosphere. Could use some more comfortable chairs definitely. Beer prices very reasonable.

My. Husband order fish & chips and it was Gordon frozen fish for $10. Not good. Not the cleanse restuarant. Won't go there again

Great service, wonderful food, fun atmosphere, and great drinks. The corn nuggets were amazing as an appetizer and the quesadillas are wonderful. I ordered a salad and the produce is fresh and delicious and the ranch dressing is to die for (homemade)!! I would absolutely recommend this place as a fun night out, a night out to dinner with the family, or lunch with friends!

Now Highlanders Bar and Grill. Awful service and horrible food. Many better options in the area.

Waited for 30 minutes just to be told that the kitchen has a "situation" and I have to order something else. I talked my toddler into patiently waiting for some fries so we had to leave. The only "situation" is that this outdated and poorly managed place is still open.

My party sat for twenty minutes before our order was taken though it wasn't busy. The food took an hour to reach the table. It was cold and incorrect.
Our waitress was sweet.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
