Museum Of Seminole County History

Not a huge metropolitan museum but very informative. The day we visited there was a reenactment of an army campground during the Seminole Indian wars. We watched a shooting demonstration, cooking demonstrations, explored their camp, and listened to explanations of life during that period of history. The kids obviously loved the guns the most!

The Seminole County Museum is a fantastic place to learn about the history of the area and people. It consists of several buildings, each packed with artifacts, maps, displays and exhibits about all aspects of the history of Seminole County.

It of course starts with the Native Americans that inhabited the region and the museum has an impressive collection of early artifacts. Then as you wander from room to room and building to building you will see displays on the development of agriculture, transportation, clothing, defensive and education of the county.

Just so much to look at and assimilate that it's almost overwhelming. Fortunately it only costs three bucks to get in so you can go as often as you like. The tour is self guided so you can take as long as you want to go through the buildings and of course a gift shop with cool books and other stuff is located on the premises

An extremely impressive museum that has changing exhibits and also lectures and programs for kids. Staff will answer any and all questions you might have about the displays or artifacts and the amount of information and just plain cool stuff to look at is amazing. One of the best local museum I have ever been in.
