One of my favorite restaurants in Astoria. Great drinks, food, staff and ambiance. I recommend the Nutcracker

Quaint spot on 31st ave and 33rd street serving breakfast starting at 9am. Surprisingly small space indoors, but in good weather they have a ton of outdoor seating on the street and on the sidewalk.
Very much a diner vibe with the Jetsons on TV and the condiments and served out of metal lunch boxes. Service was on point. We waited a little bit for our food, but the restaurant was 2/3 full at 10 am on a Friday.
We ordered chicken and waffles and avocado toast. The chicken was perfectly breaded and crispy. I would 100% order this again. The avocado toast was also good, but not the best ever. For these two items our final bill was over $50 (with nothing to drink except water). The portions are large enough to share if you are not starving.
This will be my new go-to spot for weekday breakfast and brunch!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joseline B.Manhattan, New York, NY342976May 7, 2024
The nice May weather days are are becoming more often and enjoying this weather what better company than a Boozy Milkshake, we were looking for a dessert spot but also something to drink and we didn't regret this option!
The service was quick to serve our orders! And ad you can see the ambiance outside is beautiful for a nice spring weather !
I dont give them a 5, because I feel they had happy hour options and they didn't offer them to us! I also wish they had a bottomless option too! Haven't tried the food but thinking on going back soonHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 2, 2024

The food here is delicious and plentiful. I ordered the chicken bacon and waffle, and it was everything I hoped for. The chicken was crispy, the waffle was savory, and the bacon was thick and delicious.
It has a little sauce on the top that includes a Cholula syrup.
I was stuffed after eating it.
I also tried the bloody Mary. Delicious and filled with fresh horseradish.
The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is cool. It's a tight spot but worth the visit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Such a nice spot! I've read about the Manhattan location so I was happy to know there was an other location just in Astoria. I went for brunch on Sunday afternoon, and I was pleased. They sat us down at the tables of their sister bar - we were outside so it was fine for them. We were provided with both menus.
We also had a Mac and cheese which was great. The short rib grilled cheese was massive, but the cheese wasn't really felt at all. House burger was very good. The drink was sugary and could feel the alcohol!! Overall a good experience, but service was a bit slow (I guess that sitting us a bit far didn't exactly help). I would go back :)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 26, 20241 check-in
This place is lit! Jello shots, mozzarella donuts, and heavy metal fries. Plus Dwight on a lunchbox and fun 80s-90s music.
Great spot to cheat on your diet. Totally rad and retro. Plus, if you're a New Yorker and ever bought Nutcrackers from a guy with a cooler at the beach they serve them here in a plastic bottle- Authentic Shizz!
I'm home! Oh, and I'm eating a bottle of Tums later.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for sharing with us, Phil! So glad you enjoyed the lunchboxes, we just added them recently. Our nutcrackers are really popular in the summer, so be sure to stop by and grab them early before they sell out! See you soon for another meal- bring the Tums!

If you're on a quest for brunch food at an unconventional hour on a Monday, look no further than this hidden gem! My spontaneous visit around 3:30 turned out to be a delightful surprise. Despite not being a typical brunch spot, they served up an array of delectable dishes and drinks that exceeded my expectations.
Let's talk about the drinks first - the strawberry margarita was refreshing, but the real star was the "Hot Girl Summer," a spicy margarita rendition that was absolutely divine. It packed a flavorful punch that left me craving more.
As for the shakes, the "Rainbow Bright" with fruity pebbles and cupcake pieces was a whimsical delight that brought back childhood memories.
Now onto the food - the chicken and waffles were executed flawlessly, with perfectly fried chicken that was moist and flavorful. The shrimp with grits was another winner, accompanied by crispy tater tots. Though they couldn't accommodate my request for cheese on the tots, they were still satisfying.
The ambiance of the place was cozy, with a bar-type vibe that added to the experience. However, do note that it tends to get crowded quickly, so arriving early is advisable.
Overall, if you find yourself craving brunch fare on a weekday afternoon, this place is a must-visit. You won't be disappointed!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Had a really fun experience at Mom's! The service was awesome and we sat down just as the brunch rush ended. Bar seating is my favorite which puts you in the center of a very retro dining room. Every song that played that day slapped.
Portion sizes are absolutely massive. Come very hungry or prepared to share, but either way you will have something to-go.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ana Maria Z.Queens, NY23411May 20, 2024
Food was good and the staff was friendly. I like the kitschy atmosphere in this place. Coffee was cold though and I feel we were rushed out. We've been a few times and I'll go back, but I would hope we don't get rushed again.

This is cute trendy place located in a corner spot of Astoria. On weekdays it's usually pretty easy to get a table inside for brunch. I went here with my kid and I got the pancake burrito and she got the mom's burger. The sizes are huge and I think it's to justify the prices of their entrees. The pancake burrito was very tasty- it's like a ginormous fancier McGriddle if you can imagine the taste and texture. The pancake was perfectly fluffy while maintaining a crisp texture on the edges and stored all the bacon sausage fluffy eggs well. It truly is a dish for people who enjoy savory and sweet breakfast all in one. My kid opted for the mom's burger which was tasty but she felt it was way too big to put in your mouth so she had to deconstruct it to really eat it. She said it could do without the ham. The salad they gave with her burger was substantial and it cut through the grease of her burger very well to give it balance. I would say my only critique of the restaurant would be that there's no "classic" breakfast platter- my kid wanted just eggs over easy, some breakfast meat and hashbrowns... all of the brunch entrees that had egg were either omelette style or in a vessel like the pancake burrito. I also wish they had regular pancakes- sorry but fruity pebbles is just too sweet for me on the regular though it looked pretty when I saw other customers order it. If you want unique breakfast dishes then this is def the place to go.

Mom kitchen and bar is really a vibe. So many brunch choices and drinks it took a while to pick. Ended up getting the Mac & cheese pancakes, chicken and waffles and also cinnamon French toast. All were really delicious. The drinks were good as well . I forgot the name of it tho. Definitely would come back. Service was good as well.
