So we frequent the one in Las Colinas. While the service is always great there... but today we wanted to venture out and go into Dallas. We sat down right away outside, took 10 minutes and the manager finally approached and said the server would be with us right away. Another 7 months and he finally approached. We ordered our drinks and food right away. Took another 20 minutes to get drinks and another 15-20 to get food. So we sat there for 35 mins before we even got drinks. Server comes by and drops forks but no napkins. I had to ask the manager for it and I complained. Server came up finally with our food and I asked for salt. Never got it. Had to ask the manager for that as well. So I finally paid but we ordered one more round and the server was quiet and rude when dropping it off because he saw I tipped 12%. I'm a tipper when I go out, I work in customer service so do better Michael. I'll never return again. Also the manager needs some work because he was not a good manager.

We had such a great time at this restaurant. The food, the drinks and the service were amazing. Our waiter Chris M. was absolutely fantastic! He made our Wedding Anniversary dinner very memorable. I highly recommend this location for anyone interested in great service and awesome food.

We came for a birthday dinner recently, and it was my first time coming to this location. I didn't remember my first experience too well, so essentially I started over. This place is huge like the Las Colinas location and has two floors (we were on floor 2), and it is beautiful inside.
I started off with a drink which was really good. It was a nice balance of sweet and strong, not to mention fruity like I like it. The same applied to the other drink. We were not very hungry, so we split lobster enchiladas with beans and rice. I've never had this before, but wow was it great! The queso and lobster, which was pretty tender, went really well together, and I was glad to see they didn't stuff the enchiladas with lobster. Otherwise, it could have been overkill. The beans and rice were really good as well.
What I will say, however, is that I found it odd that they do not have the right equipment (aka an oven I believe) to make cheese enchiladas (which I would have ordered) because the cheese cannot melt properly. This is not really the best place for a vegetarian dinner which is what I was getting at.
Also, I feel like where I was sitting at the table was annoying because my chair kept getting hit literally every 2-3 minutes. Not really a fault of the servers but more so the restaurant for not putting enough space for servers to squeeze through during busy hours aka a Saturday evening.
Our server was really nice and attentive despite the noise level. She recommended the drinks to me and knew what I liked (sweet and strong). Overall, while I do wish there were more vegetarian options, I think I will return because the food and drinks were good enough to come back.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

1 star is a compliment for how bad this place is. This is one of the most God awful restaurant experiences I have ever experienced probably in my whole life . Seated promptly. Took 12 minutes and me having to ask the hostess if we have a waiter before anyone came to the table with water and chips.
Our server was as pleasant as he could be being overwhelmed with all the downstairs tables. The hostess had to bring the water and chips.
Took 25 minutes to bring an ice tea. 35 minutes to order.
The food was awful. The only nice thing I can say is the ambience is beautiful. It's a shame to waste such a beautiful place on that. I would lick pavement before ever eating there again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Came here for the first time on Easter Sunday morning around 10:30 AM. We self parked in the garage. They open at 10 AM on Sundays, so not many people were seated already. We were seated right away and our server greeted us right away. They have coat/purse hangers available for the table.
Table chips & Salsa - Chips have a nice thickness to them - not too thick & not too thin. Salsa is served warm interestingly - flavor is very subtle, but there is a hint of spice to it. Not sure how I feel about the warm salsa.
Mimosa - Standard mimosa. Fair strength.
Horchata - Cane with a compostable straw! Nice subtle flavor - not too sweet.
Benedicto Rancheros - Breakfast potatoes smell good, but have little flavor & soggy - not crispy at all. I don't quite understand how they got so soggy - it was like they were soaked in water for several days, possibly boiled, then air fried, then sat somewhere for a while. (I've soaked potatoes in water overnight & they don't turn out this soggy.) Also, bland - I had to get ketchup to make it edible. Meat has an evident char, but not much flavor. Egg is overdone in my opinion - Sunny side up medium hard. Masa cakes were quite small - like the size of half dollars, & had a gritty texture.
Combo Fajitas - Cilantro Lime Rice has a zesty nice flavor. Guac was standard. Beef is cooked well - still tender and juicy. Shrimp was overdone - very firm. Fajita veggies were overdone - very limp & mushy. Black beads were standard - maybe kind of watery.
Overall, we were pretty disappointed by this experience. We've been to the Mexican Sugar in Los Colinas & remember everything was amazing, but this experience was very lack luster. While our water was refilled, the salsa was empty & never refilled. Based on this experience, I would not come back & I would not recommend.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Honestly, if you want THE BEST service and drinks, make sure you ask for Jen! She was the coolest bartender around and made me a great drink!! This was my first time at the uptown location and it was sooo dope. We sat on the second level and it was really nice up there. The weather was perfect so they had the big window open to give it an indoor/outdoor feel. I got the steak enchiladas and they were really good. The beans they came with didn't have a ton of flavor but they were cool. The rice was solid.
Overall, it was about a 4.2/5 experienceHelpful 0Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

So far so good! I'm making this review as I sit at the bar, with my lovely bartender/waitress justice! We started off with chips queso and two classic margaritas, which are poured from the tap, and let me tell you... they are strong as hell! even my bf who's a drinker agreed!
Next was the food we had a whole fried snapper and barria ribs! Service was immaculate we had fun and can't wait to come back!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I like this place. I came on a Sunday for brunch. My waitress Stephanie was great. The food was good & I like the drinks. I ordered the steak and eggs which is my go to if you follow my page lol. The steak was like fajita meat in a way so it really wasn't the steak I expected. The ambiance was cool. Music was playing and it wasn't loud. They even have a purse stand for you to hang your purses or bags. I'll come back for brunch or dinner.

All good things must come to an end I guess not sure if a busy Friday night made everyone angry or what?
From the time we walked in the hostess was rude the wait for a 930pm reservation we weren't seated until 10:05pm and a waitress who asked "how we are doing" and when given a response of "not good we been waiting and hungry" jokingly & their reply was "sorry not my fault" instead of "let's make the night better and get you guys some food"
I am honestly not even sure if I'll eat at this point with a kitchen closing at 11pm & these burnt chips I am
currently staring at literally trying to figure out what's going on tonight?
It's the fact I bought my family of 12 here for New Year's Day & everyone got their food except for me and I still was raving about them and giving excuses thinking maybe they had an off night as I never came with a large party before ...
Well I most definitely will not be back .. so disappointing as this was our 8th visit here & 1 visit in Las Colinas. So disappointing like seriously disappointment as we travel from Red Oak to get here on top of that ; there's so many other places I have listed I could've went to on this lovely Friday night.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Sep 3, 2023Previous reviewIf I could give more than 5 stars, I would! The ambiance, the food, the drinks - all amazing! The service was even more incredible! I had lots of questions, and I'm glad I asked because our server was extremely knowledgeable.
I could drink their salsa by the jug! It's a warm salsa, too - very rare to find in restaurants these days. You know my motto: 'If the salsa is great, the food is even better'!
Who goes to a Mexican restaurant for a pork chop? You will once you try theirs! They have the best-grilled pork chop I've ever eaten at a restaurant! Hands down, the best! The thickness of the cut of meat may be intimidating, but it's worth every single penny, and you'll have some leftover!
Their homemade guacamole is almost better than mine, so I was thoroughly impressed. And the flight of margaritas!!!! I'm not a spicy rita lover, but man, that watermelon has the perfect hint of spice - not overwhelming! The hibiscus is perfect for me - not too sweet, not too strong - definitely my fave. The classic is good too!
Until next time, Mexican Sugar! I'll be back every chance I get! - 123119188Jan 23, 2024
Service was incredible. It was fast and easy at the bar upstairs. It was such a lovely space and all the staff was so friendly.
Food was incredible. I ordered the Mesquite Grilled Steak Enchiladas and La Catrina. The enchiladas were delicious and came with three enchiladas. They also had a side of rice and beans on the plate. The spice level was perfect and it did not leave any room for dessert. La Catrina was a Mezcal based drink and it was super refreshing.
I will definitely return to try more of their food when I'm in town again.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

First time visiting a Mexican Sugar location and I am amazed! It's so beautiful, everyone is so kind and introduced themselves. The upstairs is beautiful too!! Jeffrey and Chris have made me feel so welcomed!
Chips and salsa are provided when arriving. I ordered the sopes which were incredible. For drinks I got the rojo sangria and La Catrina.
Both delicious, the sangria is a little light but very refreshing. La Catrina is TOOO GOOD!! I'm very excited to return, I recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
