Happy New Year Yelpies !!!
When was the last time you had a craving for fish and chips only to go to the same old spot to be somewhat satisfied with your craving??? Exactly we all fall victim to this unfortunate sensation but... look no further this place is horribly underrated... The server was awesome and the food came out hot and delicious fulfilling my craving. Next time you have a craving for anything fish or more this is the spot that won't disappoint.. Oh yeah the drinks are delicious from the barHelpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0Jul 17, 2022Previous reviewWhat's up Yelpies !!!
I'm having a problem here this place has a low rating but the food and service deserves a 5 star review. The server was on point with recommendations. the manager came out to the outdoor seating to ask everyone how they were doing and if we needed anything Hence the confusion on the ratings. I never take the ratings and judge a place until I've had a chance to give it a shot. After 20 plus years in the food and beverage industry one learns that there are good days and bad days.
Get over to this place and enjoy fresh seafood, Steak, and great pasta dishes!!! - Chris R.Salem, OR181May 18, 2024
Food is consistently excellent. Also, it is cost-effective for me as I always get at least two meals from one order.

My mom was craving fish and chips and we meet halfway in Salem for lunch so we decided on McGrath's. Haven't been to this location before but I saw no difference between this one the others I've been to. Nice big, clean place with friendly and attentive staff. Didn't realize the onion rings were GIGANTIC. They were so good though, nice and crisp. Fish and chips are good portions and nice and crispy too. Comes with a really big side of coleslaw compared to most places. All the food was good with reasonable prices and decent portions. Didn't even know this place was over here but would definitely come again.

Food and service was awesome. I'd totally visit again when I'm in Oregon. Love the cocktails - and they have the best seafood.

Food was fine, help was decent and accommodating. Manager a bit frosty when I mentioned that it was unpleasant to have two different servers run the vacuum 10 feet from our table while we were eating our meal. It was 715 pm, our section cleared out and then the vacuuming started. In my opinion it's rude to ruin the ability to enjoy a meal with one vacuum running, let alone a second one 5 minutes later. Any customer would feel rushed and unwelcome. The manager said it was "normal". I call it rude and unwelcoming.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 8, 2017Previous reviewI have been in two times now. The first time was good, nothing special about the food, but the waitress was exceptional. Last night was another story. Young inexperienced waitress really seemed to not enjoy her job. At first she was fine, but after she was shown how to serve wine by another server, she did all she could to steer clear of our table. Salads were good, wine was good, and then came the stone cold entrees. Trying not to be rude, we only sent the huge baked potatoes back, as they could not be eaten with big scoops of unmeltrd butter sitting on top. The new potatoes were only slightly less cold than the originals and would have been sent back again if the waitress had ever checked in with us. Never once did she check with us, we had to catch her as she walked by. Getting a second cup of coffee was difficult and it was the bartender who helped us out by bringing a carafe to the table. The waitress was inattentive and really made us question why she would ignore us most of the time we were there, and when we did get her attention she seemed uncomfortable with us. The fake smile gave her away.

My partner and I were very pleased with our meal at McGrath's! The clam chowder, salad, entrees, drinks, and complimentary bread were great. If you're craving seafood and don't want to leave the Willamette Valley, McGrath's is a great option. It's a shame that there aren't many locations anymore, but our dining experience was well worth the drive to Salem from Corvallis.
McGrath's offers an expansive menu of fresh, fried, and wood-fired seafood as well as non-seafood options like steak, ribs, chicken, pasta, and burgers. There is also an oyster bar, which we really enjoyed. Even though the restaurant was busy, the waitress stopped by often to check on us and ensure we had everything we needed. Despite the crowd, the restaurant was clean.
We'll definitely be back! I love supporting good local chains. When craving seafood, consider trying out McGrath's instead of a certain other larger chain seafood restaurant - you might just find something delicious on the menu that will keep you coming back!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - K H.McMinnville, OR20343Mar 30, 2024
We enjoy McGraths as an affordable Fish place to us. It's a treat to get to out to this place and once inside you are transported near the docks of most seafront setting. Goor food and service. Attending Easter service then brunch here tomorrow!

Service was horrible. Management made excuses for bad service. For people to spend a lot of money to eat out and get horrible service spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Took my nephew out for a birthday lunch. We are out-of-towners and have never been to McGrath's. I found the menu comprehensive with many choices. The overall vibe is old school fish house which is fine by me. The waitress was friendly and attentive.
I had grilled prawns skewers that were very yummy. My nephew has prawn pasta which he enjoyed very much. The prices were reasonable and portions were generous. Overall it was a very nice meal. If I ever make it back to Salem it will be on my go to list!Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0
