Historical (and one of the biggest) Barolo houses and much more like a visit to a large producer in Napa Valley.
The Marchesi di Barolo dates back many years and has a great history originating when the Marquis got himself a wine-loving French wife who was smart enough to see the potential for aging the Nebbiolo grape and as they say the rest is history.
This winery provides a quick tour (essential to book ahead AND to be on time) followed by a number of tasting options. We tried three different Barolo wines while seated at a small table. The tasting proceeds at you leisure and they will pour the additional tastes in additional glassware in case you want to compare side by side (around 18€ for three).
This is a larger, more fancy place than the smaller producers, nevertheless their wines were good although still tasting quite young.
The nice thing about them is that they are open on the weekends as well as during the week like the smaller houses. This is a nice spot to get your Barolo "sea legs."Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
