I've been here a few times including when they first opened and it always has been a pretty solid spot, except for today. I decided to order the fish and chips. Well let's say my culinary experience went downhill as soon as I received my order and asked for tartar sauce. I was told they do not have tartar sauce, the chef decided on some yellow sauce instead. Our server offered to bring a few other sauces and let me say this here and now...if you are putting fish and chips on the menu do not mess with the tartar sauce lemon combo. There was barely any fish, but I received 3 large pieces and I would venture to guess all three were about 75% batter. C'mon please do better.

When I'm staying at El Capitan Hotel. I usually order here.

This is my second time ordering the Asian salad with carrot mochi balls.

I like the unique texture of the mochi carrot.

The greens soften a little when the miso dressing soaks up.

One of my healthy meal favorite.

What a pleasure to eat here! Looking at updated historic building (great artwork, fun games, and refined lighting and floors) was only amplified by the twist on classic foods.
Make sure you walk around. I need to catch a movie here!

Came here for brunch with my kids.. yummy food and friendly staff.. it was a really nice day so we ate outside, enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately the skee ball machines inside were out of service but we played connect 4 at the table and all was good!

We rode the Harley up to Merced to visit Mainzer,
It a cool place but strange tasting food. I ordered the short rib nachos, but they were weirdly sweet and greasy.

Do not recommend for brunch on the weekend. Food selection is limited and weird. We will try for later in the day at some point. Our server was great and skillet was good. The biscuits and gravy aren't anything like normal. The put us at a high top table with 80+ year old mother-in-law. It was very uncomfortable, my back hurt. The beer just foams and you get charged for it! It's a great idea in the old theater and pour your own but needs refinement. Bad experience on Mother's Day.

Theater and restaurant venue in downtown Merced. We sat in their outside sidewalk sitting, which ended up being pretty loud with construction and unwelcomed street noise.

Had there spicy fried chicken sandwich w/fries - excellent! Service was adequate.

Greeting is good. Fun self serve beer. We are staying at the El Capitan. Wanted food and a nice wine. Rain bird was closed Native son didn't have any food choices for GF people to speak of so tried Mainzer. The bartender at native son said the wine menu
would the same. But they only had one red,as a house Merlot. So water for ne My partner did try a beef. So far. Waiting 20 minute s for tacos. Geez. Hope they are worth it. We ll see. NOPE. Tacos were cold tasteless Sorry won't be back. The did take it off our bill. I was so Hungary. Ambiance is cool. I'm sure they can do better.

Our server was Thai. She was super helpful, kind and gave great menu recommendations.

For bunch drinks, we ordered the Aperol Spritz, Pineapple & Mango Strawberry Mimosas. Aperol disgusting 2/5. Mimosas decent 3/5.

Steak Tacos - 5/5 fresh blue corn tortillas with juicy meaty steak

Breakfast Mainzer Flatbread - 10/5 basically a pizza. Quite delicious. Must get! Only on the brunch menu though! The chunks of bacon were great and pizza wasn't as oily as you'd think.

My friend ordered this tomato cast iron brunch dish - without meat. She said the crostini toast was way too hard so we requested some new regular toast.

We were meeting my friend before she starts her 2nd year of Med school and there weren't much good food options nearby but this was recommended by her friends.

It was blazing hot outside and we had our doggo. So we had to sit outside. The server, Thai, immediately brought out a doggie water bowl for our girl which I loved. You usually need to ask the server for this. It was too scorching!

Service was great, overall a peaceful atmosphere, food was pretty good, nachos and cod sandwhich were amazing, wasn't as much of a fan of the fried pickles and prime rib sandwhich. Overall a fun experience, would go again.
