I've been here quite a few times the food is DELICIOUS! I've had the nachos with shredded chicken and cheese and the quesadillas. They're all really good. The drinks are good and strong too. Especially the Texas margarita.
The service can be a little slow some times but they're all nice and friendly. I can't wait to try a few more of the entrees. The pictures on here look really good.
The prices are cheap so that helps too!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mike F.Monroe, GA1754106Nov 16, 2016Updated review
Noticed a lot of young, new faces among the staff recently, which was odd because their staff turnover has been close to nil for five years. Then I got the email today: closing 12/11/16, hope to find a new location soon.
I am distraught. From their Facebook page:
"Dear Customers, family and friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce Lupita's last day of operation will be December 11 of this year. We will be closing our doors for good after serving you and the Norcross community for 25 years! We want to thank you for your loyal support throughout our time here. We have had the honor of being the place for many 1st dates, anniversaries, birthday parties, company parties, family get togethers, and even a wedding destination!
If you haven't heard, the property has been purchased to make room for a new gas station. Our plan is to relocate Lupita's as soon as we are capable. We don't want you to miss us for too long!
Now through December 11, please come out and help us celebrate our last month of all your favorite dishes, your favorite servers, and wish us (not a goodbye) a "See ya Later" If you have captured any memories here at Lupita's please share them with us in the hashtag #LupitasNorcrossYearbook below! Thank you again for 25 years!

The waitstaff is even friendlier and the food quality has remained higher than your typical Tex-Mex places.
If you spend a little extra time looking at the menu, you can find some real gems. My favorites lately are the chicken soup and tortilla soup, the Pollo con Papas, the Burrito California and La Changa. These last three are now available on the lunch menu, too - a huge selling point for me.
Lupita's is still my "go-to" place in this neighborhood for sit-down Mexican food - and a menu that keeps getting better.Jul 21, 2010Previous reviewReally, the food is not amazing enough to rate four stars, but it's always good, consistant and quick. The restaurant is always clean and the staff is always friendly. Whenever anyone at our office wants Mexican, this is the place - despite the hundred other similar offerings within a two-mile radius.

**So, I went on a bit of a taco tour y'all! I got the idea from the folks over at Buzzfeed which is seemingly the most fun place to work on the planet! A group of Buzz-feeders decided to go on a tour around their city eating their weight in tacos. It made me so hungry for tacos that I decided to do the same thing. Of course I started on YELP and visited some of the highest rated Taquerias around the city. Yum! This was an assignment I could really sink my teeth into and it's inspired me to do this every so often, experimenting with various genres and specific dishes. If anyone wants to join me, just let me know! :) **
Tried this place hoping it would be another great stop on my taco tour but I was very disappointed. From the moment we walked in something was "off" about it for me. It literally didn't spell right...it smelled like the bathroom had exploded and they threw a bottle of pinesol on it in an effort to mask the scent. I don't know, it was super weird.
I tried to place my order but I felt a bit of pushback from the waiter, I didn't like his attitude and the way he spoke to my wife and I ...again...weird. He even tried to get me to change my order, telling me I didn't really want what I thought I wanted. Hmm..okay. He bought us some chips and queso that was meh...okay...however, the chips were cold which , to me, made me think they weren't fresh and had possibly come off a previous person's table.
Beware, the food is not authentic Mexican either. Yeah, I know it's technically "Tex-Mex" but I could barely detect any Mex. They didn't have street tacos and they tacos they did have were not good at all. I also ordered a tostada and something else (I don't remember) but they brought me TWO tostadas. The tostadas were really soggy and tasteless, didn't even finish them. The margaritas were watered down as well.
The whole experience felt like a waste of money, could've eaten McDonald's and enjoyed a better meal.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Veda W.Duluth, GA37258236Mar 17, 2015
On the weekends you can find me searching for the best margaritas. Whether on the rocks, virgin or frozen I'm on the lookout. A friend told me to try Lupita's and of course I came to yelp to read the reviews first. Reviews seemed good enough so we ventured here after work on Saturday. They even had a little red yelp sticker on the front door. Cute.
I was excited to see that they had Margaronas and of course we had to try one. We ordered one 24 oz frozen mango and one 24 oz frozen strawberry and the flavors were present and strong and might I add very delicious. We received complimentary chips and salsa that we devoured quickly and I decided to order some enchiladas to go along with the drinks. The waitress actually recommended the flour tortillas over the corn. Me being me I decided to go against the grain and order a tortilla and a corn.
The waitress was spot on. I did not like the corn enchilada one bit. I tried two bites and could not eat anymore. I'm not one for sugar coating so I will just say it was nasty. It was a weird taste, one that I simply can't explain. The flour enchilada was delicious. The employees were nice and courteous. I definitely plan on returning especially for the Margaronas and to try a different dish.
The decor in the restaurant was so cute and I loved the vibe. The set up for the women's bathroom was cramped and crazy. I would recommend only 1 at a time even though there are 2 stalls. A kid was celebrating their birthday there and the workers came out and sang happy birthdays and gave her a dessert. I thought that was too cute.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Stephen F.FL, FL1679411003Jul 7, 2015
I've been coming here for lunch the last 20+ years. The service knows our standard orders, and they're delivered QHT...quick, hot & tasty. I know that one waiter has served us for at least 15 years.
My favorites are the Speedy Plate (Never trust a Mexican Restaurant that doesn't offer a Speedy Plate) and the chicken burrito.
Try the Taco Salad or the Quesadilla, both are wonderful.
I hope that Lupita's is here another 20 years.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicki K.Duluth, GA41712866217Oct 18, 2014
I don't often go out and eat Mexican food because honestly I can make tacos at home and don't think about it. However, I promised to take my daughter for dinner at an authentic Mexican restaurants. Most of her friends at school are Latinos and she wanted the experience of eating outside of my infamous cooking. It shouldn't be that hard, right? With many options in a heavy Latino community.
After searching on Yelp for an authentic Mexican restaurant, I came across Lupita's. What attractive me is not only the authenticity that is said many times in the reviews but the name. I took Spanish for six years (and I cannot speak it) and Lupita was my Spanish name lol.
We got to Lupita's around 5ish on a Friday.. It's at the corner of Indian Trail and Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross across the street from Lowe's. While walking in the restaurant, we were greeted with bubbly people and got seated at a booth right away. The restaurant is bigger than I thought with a bar on the other side slightly separated by a wall.
The crowd is anywhere from a well dress homecoming party to an office party happy hour to a family of four having dinner. The staff is friendly and attentive. One of the best I've ever encounter. The waitors are very well knowledge and outgoing. They are all Latino too, if anyone cares for the tidbit.
We got water, chips, and salsa right away. OMG, it was so good, it was still hot and the salsa is one of the best. We got pollo pablano (chicken with pablano peppers, dish actually came with yummy rice and broccoli with cheese) and tres amigos (literally means three friends but it has three meats - shrimp, chicken, & steak). We got the dishes really quickly. So yummy, finger licking good with the right amount of spiciness and loaded with yummy cheese. I was so stuff too.
I cannot wait to go back and try more dishes. Oh yeah, free Wi-Fi too. This worked out cause I reached my data so connection was super slow lolHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 205234411May 30, 2015
Honestly, maybe the day I went was just a bad day, but seeing how there were only 2 other tables seated, I truly doubt it. Nothing was good. The pomegranate margarita had virtually no taste of pomegranate juice in it. I may be the only person in Atlanta who doesn't like a more alcohol to juice ratio, but I just sent it back with no remake. The food was bland. I don't have to return.

This was an ok spot for a quick bite of Mexican food. I had the chilaquiles, but would probably order something different if I were to visit again. My son's taco looked like it would have been tasty. Dinner was quick and affordable. Portions were large. The place was hopping on the early Friday evening we visited, and from the Yelp reviews, it clearly has lots of fans.

Stumbled upon this little Mexican restaurant while starving, for a late lunch. Ordered horchata and Lupitas steak burrito special. First off, I LOVE horchata. Seriously. Like Hank Hill said, "I could drink horchata forever". Well, sadly this horchata was terrible. It obviously was from some powder mix, which didn't get mixed right(?), as my drink was super grainy and powdery.
My steak burrito was okay. Not the best I've had but definitely not bad. Rice was odd, as it had peas, corn and carrots in it...just unexpected. Chips and salsa were standard fare.
Staff was nice. Waitress was prompt. Would we eat here again? Not likely, especially since La Pastorcita is down the road a bit.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 20, 2011
A step above standard Tex-Mex. Forget the combos (though they're on the menu), spend your time on the house specialties. The kitchen puts some care into its creations, and seems to have no problems handling large groups.
Staff makes you part of the "family" almost immediately. They're full of suggestions, and will even point you to delicious creations that aren't on the menu. Portions are huge. Prices are low. I didn't have any EtOH, but I'm told the margaritas are subtle yet strong. Definitely worth a visit or two.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
