About the Business
Bringing Central Texas style barbecue to Big D. Lockhart Smokehouse fires up the great smoked meat classics that make Lockhart the "Barbecue Capital of Texas". In the true tradition of great 'cue we serve until we run out of meat. Some weekends we close the pit down around 2 and reopen at 5:30. If in doubt, give us a call first to make sure we are still smoking! We hope to see you soon.

Menu
I wanted it ALL. Everything looked so yummy and delicious. NOTE-Wednesday is rib night and Thursday is burnt ends ( we will return on Thursday for sure). We settled on the baked beans, the blue cheese slaw, and the brisket. The beans were very good-seasoned well, caught glimpse of meat in there. I could have licked the container. The slaw was delicious-never had blue cheese slaw but it was fantastic and we fought over the last of it. The servings for sides are about a cup. The meat was by the half pound which was just about right for the two of us. Again, order in the back and everyone is super nice. There was a tempting banana pudding-FYI. Get a whole glimpse of the menu before proceeding. The sides are in a glass display case on the side of where to order. They pull the meat straight out of the oven for you and wrap it up in paper. Utencils are plastic and there are sides-pickles, pickled onions, and another jalapeño type condiment that you can put into a small cup but go for the snack sized zip lock as it holds better. I did see some guests with a larger French-fry type paper dish but could not find them. There is a soft drink refrigerator, tea, and a full bar. We had the fountain drink (complimentary logo cup!) and a forced hurricane (only $7).
Summary
Felt right at home at this family atmosphere bar b que place. GREAT FOOD, such outstandingly friendly service, and roomy seating. Will be back for the burnt ends!!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 12, 2024
An authentic BBQ experience that's truly hard to match! Their brisket is melt-in-your-mouth tender, a masterclass in how to do BBQ right. The jalapeño sausages provide just the right kick, and when paired with their spicy beans, it's a match made in heaven.
But it's not just about the food here. The ambiance of Lockhart is a testament to true hospitality. There's a genuine sense of belonging the moment you step in, making every visit feel like you're coming home.
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to this gem by a dear friend. And true to the unwritten rule of all great discoveries, I've since played the role of the introducer, bringing friends and family to partake in this mouth-watering feast. Every time I walk through those doors, I'm met with familiar smiles, consistently great food, and memories waiting to be made.
If you're in Dallas, Lockhart Smokehouse BBQ isn't just a recommendation, it's a must-visit. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure you don't miss out on this BBQ haven. Your taste buds will thank you!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 3001045303Jan 8, 2024
We couldn't decide what we wanted to eat, so in Texas, you BBQ. This spot did not disappoint.
You order in back and the cashiers are SO nice and helpful. They have a million options for sides - warm and cold - I wanted to try them all. We ended up with the burnt ends which were so tender and flavorful.
We sat at the bar for a beer and they had some great local options, something for everyone. The bartender that served us, Gina, was phenomenal at her job.
We had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Great spot, great food, great service. No complaints and we would definitely recommend.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 20, 2023
This bbq is super delicious. I wish they had more sauces to choose from but it was super good. I ordered the brisket, jalapeño popper, spicy Mac and Cheese... all very delicious.
The service was excellent and super efficient.
Inside is clean and super nice.
Highly recommend if you're in the mood for bbq.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 22, 20233 check-ins
We had family visiting from out of state so of course we had to take them to bbq. We were originally looking at a couple other places but one was closed and the other further away than we felt like going. I'm so glad we landed here. I loved the sassy bbq vibe and that it wasn't a massive, super crowded place. We were able to order our meats and sides and sit right down.
You head to the back and just tell them what you want. We also enjoyed the pickle station- especially the spicy pickles! Just because this is a smaller place does not mean it should be slept on. Really tasty food, good portions and reasonable prices. There were 6 people in my group and everyone wanted to give a 5 star rating. Will definitely return!
For sides, we tried the baked beans, mac n cheese, blue cheese coleslaw and potato salad. For meats we got a pound each of the pork ribs, brisket, and smoked pork loin. My fave meat was the ribs and side was maybe potato salad- but they were all delish! Oh- we also tried the deviled eggs and they were really yummy too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jackie B.Vancouver, WA127172121May 4, 2024
Got here at 11 and so glad we did! The brisket was great....everything was great! The sides were some of the best ever too. Deviled eggs, MacNCheese., all the slaws. And a really good choice of beers! When in Dallas, go to Lockharts!

Food is very mediocre here for such a famous spot. I expected a lot more and was left severely underwhelmed.
First, we got some brisket. I asked for it to be fatty, but unfortunately what we received was severely dry and mostly inedible bark. The pieces that were good in there were really good, but overall the quality was not throughout the meat.
We also got some ribs, which, for once again quite dry with not much meat on them.
Finally, the jalapeño sausage was the saving grace that was still pretty good. It is quite small compared to other sausages you get another barbecue restaurants, but the quality and taste were there. It also had a nice snap to it.
I do like that they have a bunch of pickled veggies that are self serve so you can have a really good juxtaposition of fatty and savory meat with crisp and tangy veggies.
The service here was also very average. The person cutting the meat as well as the person at the cash register seemed quite disinterested in helping anyone out.
I do like the venue, as it is quite open and has plenty of seating available.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jennifer S.Red Oak, TX1312418Jan 9, 2024
Lockhart never fails to impress. The brisket and ribs were fantastic. Who needs sauce? They also have a decent selection of craft beers.
Needless to say, there were some leftovers for the next dayHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ea67nova ..Mabank, TX02324May 2, 2024
I go here for the sausage links they are the best I live 5 hours away and I buy 2 cases of sausage and I try to make it last as long as I can. The service is amazing very nice people and helpful and the ambience is very nice you get to see the pits and smell the wood burning. This is my favorite restaurant in Lockhart
