The lantern fest was definitely a bucket-list item for me. It's your one opportunity to live out your princess Tangled movie-moment. Each attendant gets a wrist-band, a smores kit (enough to make 4 smores) with a sharpie & a lighter. You also get the giant, bio-degradable lantern that looks like a giant condom when opened up. Guests arrive @ the venue & are given all these items + 2 smores sticks upon showing them your ticket (bought online). The event has food vendors & live music. The gates open @1PM but the lanterns started going up around 6:30PM. There are tiki torches everywhere that people use to light their lantern. After lighting the lantern, you're supposed to wait ~3 minutes for the lantern to get air. You are encouraged to bring camping chairs & blankets to the event. You're allowed to bring in food but no alcohol (there was no check point upon entrance). They provide fire pits with fire. Come early to claim a spot. Music that played during the lantern lighting was awesome (they played XX, Florence & the Machine, etc.). You can pay extra to get extra lanterns. Kids under (11?) can go for free. I thoroughly enjoyed this event & would recommend it to any age (family, couples, friends). It was a breathtaking, magical experience that I would do again & again!

Drove all the way from Denver to see the lantern fest in Colorado Springs, but when I arrived to the place there was a sign that the festival was canceled. I received no notification about the cancellation.

Bought 3 tickets for the November 5, 2016 event in Colorado Springs. Event got postponed to April 2017, and then that event got supposedly postponed to an indeterminate time. Very poor communication with what seems like no intention to make good on issuing refunds or informing us about plans (I have tried to contact them for updates, refunds, but wholly ignored). Local news has run a few pieces on them:

I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, whatever good that will do. I just don't understand how they can take people's money and run, yet be so open and communicative about other events (outside of Colorado) on their Facebook page. They are intentionally ignoring any and all customers from Colorado, yet continuing to have events elsewhere. It's a slap in the face and just downright shady. Pathetic does not even begin to describe their business practice and attitude.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Purvi S.Alexandria, VA016May 20, 2016
This is a review for the lantern festival in Pueblo. The race track insisted on doing their own food and were very ill equipped to do so. Between the lack of food, the kerosene permeated air, and $70 we paid to come to this I have a headache and spent $100 to get it.

We have had such a horrible experience with @thelanternfest. Starting with a cancelled event in Colorado Springs, CO last year for which we didn't receive notification that the event was cancelled until after we had driven an hour and a half to the event. Understandably, the event had been cancelled due to dry weather. We would have preferred an email letting us know the day before, and we accepted that they refused to refund our tickets with the promise we'd be able to attend a rescheduled festival in the spring. Since February we have been watching, but nothing has been rescheduled. I have reached out via the Lantern Festival website, the email for customer support and Facebook messenger numerous times since March, asking if something will be rescheduled and, if not, for the opportunity to use our tickets in another state. It is sketchy that no one has replied and frustrating that an event that was meant to be full of good intentions and delight has turned into something we've been taken advantage of and lost a couple hundred dollars. #TheLanternFestival has been an epic disappointment and a company we do not trust or respect. Had we received a reply to one of our seven attempts over the last several months, we would feel very different.

Canceled with no notice on Facebook or their website. Still have not received an email from them. Website now says canceled, but did not until after we started driving. We checked the website and Facebook at 4:15pm, well after the gates were scheduled to open, and there was no cancellation notice at that time. No representative was present to explain, just a sign stating the cancellation at the event site. Many people were there wondering what happened.

I have been to the Lantern Fest 3 times before and although it was pretty unorganized it was still pretty fun and a great time with friends. I bought 4 tickets to go again in November of 2016. As the date neared it was postponed due to wind and fire danger which is totally understandable. I was told my tickets would carry over to a new date in April of 2017 and the exact date would be given further on. As April approached I still was not informed of a new date and even checked the site to see if it was available. There were no dates even listed for the location. I contacted the Lantern Fest about a new date and did not hear back. Once May came around, I contacted them again wanting a refund for the tickets that I still have yet to use. I still have not heard back. I am very dissapointed that I wasted my money and the customer service doesnt even have the decency to respond to me or keep me in the loop at all. Although I enjoy the concept and the time, I will not participate in the Lantern Fest again and would not recommend it to anyone else as I would have in the past. Just a very dissapointing experience.

I had purchased tickets for the Lantern Festival in Denver, Colorado in November 2016. After hanging out at the venue for a couple of hours, the crew made the decision to cancel and postpone the event, due to high winds. I immediately decided to try to refund my tickets because I didn't foresee another convenient time to attend the event in the near future. After a first failed attempt at filing a claim through the ticket insurance, I decided to wait it out until receiving news of the rescheduled event. Months passed and I had no follow up email or any update on the postponed event. I called numerous times but the only phone number that was provided was that of the ticket insurance, who continuously told me they could not provide me with the requested information. I wrote an email directly to Lantern Fest customer service and I never received a response in return. I waited what seemed like a few weeks and I still had no response so I called back at the ticket insurance office and have filed many complaints, begging and demanding a refund of my tickets. They told me I "do not qualify for a refund because the event has since been rescheduled". I am so irritated by the lack of professionalism, communication, and well intention to provide their customers with thorough updates or any acceptable level of basic information. I will continue to call the insurance agency until they refund me my money.
