Drove out to the lake today to check it out. Haven't been in awhile. Couldn't get thru on the main way in off of Air Depot as the overpass is being upgraded so had to go in the back way off of Douglas. Nice drive but really windy and the lake was choppy. Plenty of areas to enjoy with picnic areas and grills as well as an awesome playground area. There were quite a few people out enjoying but not a lot on the lake because of the wind I would presume. They have really fixed it up over the years.

Draper is close to home and since they put the new trails in it's been one of my favorite past time activities. We go walk, hike, and enjoy the quiet peaceful day. We have picnic's, or eat dinner. So many people fish and boat or sky/tube. We love what OKC has done to bring this lake back to life. There are a few pavilions you can rent, several parks for kids and plenty of room for bike, running, walking and other sports. They have multiple points to fish. The bike trail is quite wide and allows for safe areas for our bikers. Come hand out and maybe set up a volleyball game or some frisbee.

I was so thrilled to see how well Draper is looking! These new running trails are amazing! There is easy parking and easy access to multiple entry points.
Remember, there are not restrooms around the trails so you need to plan accordingly!!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Darlene T.Oklahoma City, OK0114Jun 26, 2022
Nice clean area. It has an area, off the lake for camping. It has a motor Cross area, as well. It's great for running, jogging or biking on the new sidewalks. There's a picnic area close to the boat ramps. They have made a lot of improvements to the lake over the last few years.

Serenity now, serenity now..
What a great lake to get away from the city and breathe in some fresh Spring air and get some nature on ya. Whether stopping for a picnic or to do some fishing with the family, it still is relatively undeveloped (for now..construction ongoing) keeping it quiet and peaceful. Sit, relax and be one with nature, or throw the frisbee around one of their grassy lake-side picnic areas. We even spied some walking trails near the marina area on the western side, though I'm sure they're all over the area. There are primitive camping sites with no RV hook-ups in the southwest corner of the lake. Cost is $8 a night, purchased at the marina. I'm also told they have a famous ATV/dirt bike trail area here though I have not seen it. I have also not yet visited in summer, so I'm not sure how busy the lake gets. There may be noise pollution from motor boats and dirt bikes, I'm honestly not sure. I'll update this review come summer time.
I do wish their day use areas had a few more amenities than just tables and mowed grass. BBQs or fire rings would be nice. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see any fishing dock/pier on the lake.
For you Sunday drivers, much of the lake is surrounded by dense trees blocking any view from the encircling road, except on the west and south sides.
The natural feel of the lake and gorgeous sunsets over placid waters make this one of the better lakes in the OKC area to visit.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Nov 11, 2019
I was so excited to come check out the newest addition to the cycling trail system in OKC. We picked a lovely fall day to bring our road bikes out to Draper. We chose to park our car at the trailhead located close to the marina. We began our adventure by riding south or counterclockwise. The trail is probably about 10 feet wide and has two lanes going in opposite directions. For most of the 13+ mile trail, there is an additional 10 feet of well-maintained grounds on the side of the trail. Glad to see that they have made the decision to keep the sides low maintenance so as to provide for great visibility and safety. The road was smooth and had some challenging hills. The fall foliage was gorgeous and we really had a great time on the trail. A couple of the hills and valleys could be challenging for novice cyclists. I'm looking forward to making this one of my regular training routes. The hills near the dam are a great workout!
