I'm not crazy about any restaurant that doesn't offer complimentary chips and queso or sopapillas. The food was okay. Crunchy taco was good. Beans and rice solid. Tamale was okay and so was enchilada. Nothing bad just nothing really spectacular.

We recently moved to Republic from Texas and I was browsing Yelp for some good Mexican that my husband could pick up on his way home from work. I know the revues were not that good. But I couldn't find a restaurant that he could drive by or close too. And we really wanted some fajitas.
Amazingly the fajitas were great. We have gone back several times. I usually get a chile rellenos and my husband will get a burrit of some sorts. We have never been disappointed.
Friends of ours that have grown up here say that this is their fav Mexican restaurant and eat there at least twice a month.
For us it's just as good as any Tex-mex place we ate at in Texas.

Service is horrible. Long wait and it was 75% empty. The cheese dip was pretty good. I had a beef burrito, that gave me the runs really, really bad! My buddies order was wrong, ask for a bean burrito, but got beef burrito. At that point we were there so loog, we didn't complain. 2 hour lunch.

The only thing that I enjoy about this restaurant is their salsa. In fact we used to go in there often and get just chips and salsa. Just recently we went in for some and my total was over 10 dollars. That is ridiculous for chips and salsa. The lady at the register was also rude and said "it has always been that price." We will not be back.

The food was terrible. I sent back my taco salad because they put frozen veggie medley in it. What they brought back was basically bean and cheese soup with some lettuce mixed in. They weren't at all concerned that I was quite unhappy. Wont be going back there again.

This is a good Mexican restaurant in Springfield. I have not found a better one yet. This is why I gave it four stars. The prices are between $6 and 10 for an entree. The food is delicious. The refried beans actually have more flavor than those you get out of a can. Better than Mexican villa by far. The ambiance is not that nice so don't expect fancy accommodations.

Might want to read up on the City of Springfield's health inspection reports of this place (my favorite report is about rat feces being found on plates). But, it isn't really going to matter anyways - this restaurant was just recently shut down for not paying its taxes for several years!

Give it a try! They remodeled it is much nicer. The fajitas are really good! My son loves the La Hacienda platter.
