Harrison holds Kafe Kumbas open mic nights held by the Midtown Writers group.
Kafe kumba has been around since 1993 and are still going strong, allowing everyone who wants to come up on stage and share a poem, rap, a piece of a book you wrote, spoken word, you name it you can do it.
$3 for those that go up on stage, $5 for those who just want to listen. *cash only* Included with is a homestyle meal from Julia's Restaurant which includes greens, cornbread, chicken and turkey, and macaroni! Everything is so delicious and I'm not sure if they have the same meal every Thursday but you are fed.
The people who came were all so nice. You can be new and you could have been there for years, either way they treat you as if they already know you, hugs, greeting you with a smile and a handshake as you come in.
There are many local open mic but none like this. Like a family, all who come are welcomed.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
