I'm not here to bash anyone in particular, but I am here to leave my experience of what happened when I went to look at cars. First off let me say that my credit isn't stellar. I arrived with everything they ask me to bring. Proof of income, proof of address and my drivers license, for myself and my co-signer. I was then asked for my landlords phone number and right then and there asked to see what cars I was being offered and Brian rattled off roughly 5 cars. I asked if we could go outside to see them and he said (and I quote) "We don't like to let people see the cars before they see our finance department because we don't want them to get excited in case they aren't approved". So I'm guessing test driving anything was out of the question as well. I asked about me pulling car fax at my expense and he said that they did something similar to car fax and left it at that. At that point we had been sitting there for about 5 minutes Brian told me I'd have to put $1000 down and payments would be $500 a month. How did he come up with that before I even picked a car out?! We got up and left. I've financed cars in my lifetime, I've bought cars outright and I've never been told I wasn't able to see the cars before I saw the financing department. That doesn't make sense. Why would I let someone run my credit (again bc Jay had already run my credit) before I even know what car I'm going to be purchasing. Just be aware, the $99 down or even zero down is false advertising. Read the fine print (there is none), ask questions, stick up for yourself. This whole 5 minute scenario raised big red flags for me. At this point it worries me that they have my financial information, my co-signers information, my landlords name (thank god i didn't give his phone number). It's worrisome too think of the condition of the 5 cars I'd have been offered AFTER being approved. I was even giving them a chance after reading the horrible reviews on the BBB website. Thankfully I'm not a pushover, and I'm not desperate. Please stay clear of this place. The website makes them sound like an absolute dream. They will put you in a car that has over 100,000 miles on it (I forget which car Brian had mentioned, but it was over 100,000 miles) and you'll most likely have problems well after the warranty runs out and you'll still be paying for the car. Do research, look on the BBB website, and LOOK AROUND. There are better places that offer financing to people with less than stellar credit, I promise you that. I found a place that same day. I was able to test drive cars before even running my credit. I'd hate to see someone that doesn't have experience with these types of places and are desperate for a car get blindsided by Jay and Brian. I emailed Jay this morning to let him know I'd be leaving a review of my experience. These are facts, this was our experience. Good luck in your search for cars. There's a place 1/2 mile up there street at the set of lights that will treat you well. As I end this review, I will say I have proof of being told I couldn't see the cars before hand, and leave it at that.
One last thing, if you sort the google reviews you'll see 141 reviews were made by the dealer, it'll say "by JD Byrider" all 5 stars- that's one more red flag.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shawn N.West Chatham, Chatham, MA079Sep 16, 2021
BEWARE!! DARTMOUTH MA Do not go to this place. I recently walked into this place hoping to get a decent deal only to realize this place is a complete scam. First off normally when your walking around a car lot your almost always greeted by a sales person that is pretty knowledgeable about what's on the lot. This place don't even talk about the cars until they get your info and finances in their system. Not to mention the inside is so outdated the offices all have faded advertising and dirty certificates on the walls the rugs are dirty the employees are miserable not to mention fake and very judgmental.
Finally after getting my info in the system we talked about a 2013 Volkswagen Golf that they wanted 13000 for mind you this car is 8 years old with 113000 miles on it and they wanted me to pay $440 a month not including insurance. This car is valued around $7 to 8000 max. For $440 a month will normally get you into a much better car newer with less miles. Overall it would be close to $600 a month with insurance which they wanted full coverage with contingency's.
$600 a month for an 8 year old car with 113000 miles on it such a great deal huh considering with in the first 3 months I'll most likely have issue oh wait but for $7 extra a week I can get a warranty...
When I questioned The " salesman " Brian about it he proceeded to explain that the goal is to not set people up to fail when that is exactly what they want you to do. Before going to this dealership I did some research only to find out that the Massachusetts attorney general had a lawsuit against them for scamming consumers and messing up peoples credit. Im surprised this place is still open to be honest... this is a glorified junkyard
I really hope this helps because no matter how good or how bad your credit is I do not recommend going to any JD ByriderHelpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jason D.Fall River, MA1277Sep 13, 2017Updated review
I love the letters from this place I receive asking me to reapply after being turned down awhile ago. I was declined after being told that $400 a week wasn't enough and they couldn't help me. Ok, fine.
Now I receive letters stating that if my financial situation has changed to reapply. Yes. It has changed and drastically I might add. Between my full time (city bus driver) and part time job (school bus driver in the AM), I now take home close to $1000 a week. Big question. Why on Earth would I give you my business when you turned me down in my time of need?? You're only out for yourselves and nobody else. Thankfully I make enough now to buy a car anywhere I want and I don't have to deal with these lowlifes.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Mar 4, 2017Previous reviewYet another crooked car dealership. There's a big surprise. I reluctantly went here looking for a car. After meeting with the financial department I was told to call back the next day. When I called I was told I didn't make enough for them to help me.
If $400+ a week isn't enough, how much are their cars?!?! I was told if my financial situation changed to give them a call. I was relieved actually because I had my doubts. I've heard from a reputable source that they use used parts to repair their cars, etc.
A few months later I received a letter from the salesman saying they could suddenly help me now. TOO LATE! You had your chance! Choke on it now!
Take my advice. There are plenty of ways to get a decent car, even with bad credit like me, without being held up at gunpoint with their ridiculous interest rates. Their business practices should be illegal, and they probably are. GO ELSEWHERE! - Amanda A.Taunton, MA1142Nov 2, 2018
J.D. Byrider was awesome! Chris, Jay and Larry were all really friendly and knowledgable. They made the whole buying process so easy and stress free. Came on looking for a vehicle on Thursday and drove off with my new car on Friday. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy a car hassle free!

The buying process was quick and painless. My credit is far from perfect, so this was pretty much my last option. Chris got me into a car I love, and CNAC got me into payments I could afford. Fast forward 2 months, the car has had a lot of mechanical issues, but so far the service department is working with me to get everything taken care of...

The Program Consultant was truly awesome. Understanding and there to help. The person who handled finance was unprofessional and judgmental. If it wasn't for how good Brian the Program Consultant was I would be giving one star.

I had a major problem with my daily driver and needed reliable transportation. So I came in and met Brian Viera and he was excellent through the whole process. In and out with a car within about 4 hours

At first they are there to help and support but once your locked into an agreement (overpriced cars & extremely high interest rates) they show their true colors and could care less to be helpful! Then the mechanic side (pure frustration) I call leave a message because they never answer they take about a week to call back if that. I have lost 3 days of work because of the same problem since I took the car off the lot. They don't send my payment receipts I call Alyssa gives me attitude because she said one thing and then something else happens. TERRIBLE!! TRY CARVANA!!!!!

Dartmouth Massachusetts Sales Dept. was great, service department not so great! I bought a vehicle in August of 2016 (currently still have) and within the same month it was back to be looked at. The transmission was jumping and shifting hard & I was told nothing could be duplicated every time I brought it in, Finally after months & the fourth visit the service department agreed the transmission had an issue and replaced the trans housing assembly. Almost 3 years later I continue to bring the vehicle in to have shafts and or shaft seals replaced due to leaking transmission fluid (over 6 times the seals have been replaced). I had to bring the vehicle back in 3 times in one week from it leaking right after the work was done (just cant seem to get it right). The exhaust sounded fine on the car when I test drove it but not even 2 months later it began to get louder and it was discovered that the flex pipe had a hose clamp around it to hold together some sort of a shady repair.(now I have to pay to replace a part that should have been replaced properly before the car was sold) The car saw the same engine light for the evap system and was repaired 4-5 times but always goes bad again and light returns eventually with the same code. I realize I didn't buy a brand new car and problems are expected but this is just beyond acceptable!!! The latest new thing that happens is I'll make an appointment a week or so earlier and drop the car off the night before just to be told the next day they didn't have time to get to it basically and nothing gets done to the vehicle. other issues but this is a good enough honest review of my personal experience. They claim to help people with credit and buying a car... Went there to check it out... Left there with out any answers after being there for what seemed like forever, lots of paper work, unprofessional staff... Had to call the next day...The person I was with got denied, even though I know their credit is good.. But wanted us to come back to get approved?? Made no sense... And what ever car they were trying to sell us, the payments were ridiculously expensive... They take advantage of poor people who have no where else to turn... I'm all set... Going to a reputable dealer...
