This In N Out has been one of my favorites in the greater Sacramento area since I was a teenager.
I stopped by today after hiking Sly Park, and ordered a double double animal style (I was so hungry I actually forgot to ask for extra tomatoes) and an animal fry with extra grilled onions and an extra sauce packet on the side.
I wanted a Neapolitan shake, but good thing I didn't order one, since I was barely able to finish the burger and fries.
All of the staff were friendly and fast. The food was as bomb as I expected it to be-- hot, fresh, and delicious.
The drive through line moved relatively quickly.
I also ended up going inside to use the restroom, and noticed that everything looked clean and well stocked.
I always seem to have great experiences at this location, and will keep coming back whenever I'm in the area.
I don't know of many restaurants where you can still eat this good for about ten bucks!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Nikki E.Kelsey, CA02Apr 26, 2024
Placerville In & Out makes fantastic burgers every time! They really just need to serve their Shakes in a standard, MEDIUM-sized cup. I would pay extra for a larger shake as long as it is under $4 bucks. The shake I got today is in a small, kids sized cup. I am very disappointed in the size. Their service is great. They just need to fix the shake, cup size issue.
Time to eat my Double Double while it's still hot!

My husband and I were craaavinnggg In-N-Out the other day. Now that we live in the foothills, we're thankful that there's a location in Placerville as it's the closest city that has one.
We also hadn't sat down to eat inside an In-N-Out in years as we've always gotten the food to go. The line was short when we arrived and the workers were very efficient with taking orders. We were able to order in less than 5 minutes of waiting.
In about 10 min or so, our food was ready! And honestly, if we aren't in a rush to go anywhere, I would totally sit down and eat again. There's something about enjoying In-N-Out in the nostalgic atmosphere of the restaurant that makes the food taste even better (and of course the food is extra fresh).
Our burgers were juicy and the fries were the perfect texture. If you like chilies, I highly recommend them for the burger, plus they are free. We've only ever gotten animal fries (they're the best kind, if you go to In-N-Out and don't get animal fries, what are you doing?).
It wasn't too loud inside even though there were quite a few people. We came on a Saturday as well, and it was a beautiful day outside, so most people were eating at the outdoor tables.
The workers were attentive about cleaning tables and sweeping the floor after each party left, and I was pleased with my experience.
All in all, you've got the classic flavors of In-N-Out in a very clean, bright setting. Definitely one of the nicer In-N-Outs I've been to!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rebecca P.Fair Oaks, CA94283551May 16, 2024

It looks like it's been around 13 and a half years since I last reviewed this In-N-Out. We've stopped several times since then, as it's convenient and it's relatively easy to leave US 50 and get back on. My consistent experience is that there's always a big line up of cars, and it's usually easier to park the car and order at the counter. That way is also a good excuse for a bio-break.
My last stop was Friday, which found me driving all the way down to Albany for a dental appointment and then heading all the way back. Gayle thinks I'm crazy to keep my same dentist (since 1992) even after moving to Nevada 3 years ago. And after this trip, I think it may be time to take up with her Dentist who she likes.
It was a good driving window as Saturday weather was considerably more challenging. I headed back home at about 1:30 with nothing but a can of sparking water and a most excellent Arizmendi chocolate chip cookie. And by the time I arrived in Placerville, it was time for a single cheeseburger, fries, and a lemonade for the road. Food quality and service was it's usual consistency and efficiency. Great road food as expected and appreciated.Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 6Oh no 0Jun 26, 2010Previous reviewGayle and I drove up to Genoa NV yesterday (with Son and dog) to visit her Mom and to plan an 80th Birthday celebration later this summer. We got on the road at about 3:30 PM and wanted to make sure that we got past various traffic bottlenecks before stopping for food. Those traffic challenged areas normally include the approach to the Benicia Bridge, Cordelia Junction, Davis, and leaving Sacramento. The other consideration was that having Yogi (the dog) on our trip limited our non-fast food options.
We've been to the Placerville In-n-Out Burger before and for the traveler, there are various advantages. This includes easy on and off US 50, a spacious outdoor patio that allows dogs, one of the best scenic views outside the old Presidio Burger King, and of course my Double Double - Animal Style.
It wasn't very busy, and when we arrived, our order was taken promptly and with great cheer. However, it took longer than usual for the food to come out, which I attributed to some multi-burger drive-through orders. It felt just like trying to order a plain coffee at Starbucks, when the Latte Line was clogging things up. But eventually the food came out with a smile, our burgers and fries were their usual tasty selves, and we were soon happily on our way. Yogi was happy too, considering the walk and water he got while the order was being prepared, and the most excellent table scraps. - Nov 3, 2023
I live on the east coast and you always hear how in and out is amazing. All the hype is well deserved the burgers are amazing and the in and out spread is delicious. The staff is super nice and they make the food really fast. And the vibe of the restaurant is welcoming.

Hits the spot every time. The crispy buns and animal fries are just absolutely amazing at every in n out I go to. Relatively less busy at this location compared to other in n outs too which is nice. Staff was nice and helpful as well and they did a solid job at making the place clean

In-N-Out is absolutely amazing. The staff is incredibly friendly and they always get my orders right. Don't be put off by the long drive-thru line, it actually moves quite fast.

This In-N-Out is right off Highway 50 off Forni Drive in Placerville, CA. Ok, so it doesn't have the trademark criss cross palm trees. It does however live up to the In-N-Out quality. They serve up tasty burgers, milkshakes, and those luv 'em or leave 'em fresh fried fries.
The drive thru line always looks super long but surprisingly moves pretty darn quick, quicker than the Folsom location which is the next closest location headed towards Sacramento.
I've ordered from here several times throughout the years since they opened shop. I have no complaints. Simple deliciousness... consistent quality... friendly service... cheap eats.
FYI this place is in El Dorado County. They have different COVID protocols than most other counties. Don't be surprised if staff are not wresting masks. If that is a concern, there is an In N Out in Folsom/Sacramento County.Helpful 41Thanks 0Love this 41Oh no 0
