Just visited Italy and while entres are a nice attempt at authentic cuisine with homemade pasta, the portions are tiny for the price!l and cheese is very disappointing. My martini was $22! Wow...and I've eaten all over the world. This is a place to be seen for the young who have never traveled overseas ...to be frank. I don't mind spending money for a fantastic meal...but underwhelming for the seasoned palate

Sarah MC took great care of us by recommending some fantastic cocktails and wine that paired with the food. The patio is a great spot for a date night before dancing at White Horse across the street.

Amazing food, great service.
We walked in on a Friday night and were able to get seated at the bar no problem. I got the mushroom pizza, my friend got the cacio e pepe pasta with a side of broccolini. Waiters were attentive and the food was amazing!
We also ordered 2 glasses of wine and they comped both - when we got the receipt it said "love" as to why it was comped, super sweet!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Marla C.PA, PA10129424Apr 23, 2024
I went for a bacherlorette party, since I had a bigger group they did a prefixed menu. The staff was so nice and helpful while booking the reservation. I would say the waitress was a bit quiet and I wish she had talked more and maybe checked on us a few more times.
The food was all so good. I do wish the salad on the prefix menu was different, because it was our last favorite thing we got. For our main courses we got agnolotti and chicken saltimbocca, they were both so good.
I would make sure that you go hungry!! It was a good amount of food! I would definitely go back again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 22, 20241 check-in
Il Brutto in Austin is awesome for outdoor dining, especially when the weather's nice. Picture this: you're sitting under this gorgeous oak tree, and at night, it's all lit up and magical. It's the perfect spot for a chill meal, and if you've got your dog with you, even better!
The service is top-notch. Shoutout to Annie and Davidad for making the experience extra special. They really know how to take care of you.
On Wednesdays, they do half-priced bottles of wine all night long, and there's a happy hour every day until 6 pm with 50% off cocktails and wines by the glass. It's a great deal if you're into that.
Now, let's talk about the food. The lamb ragu pappardelle is as delish as ever, and the prosciutto di Parma board is a good with some hot from the oven bread. Just a heads up, though: the bread isn't free. It's $9 per serving, which is almost the price of an appetizer. But hey, it's really good bread, so it might be worth it. I didn't love my mussels. I will be staying from that in the future.
Overall, Il Brutto is a fantastic spot for a meal, especially when the weather's nice. The vibe is great, the service is amazing, and the food is delicious. Can't ask for much more than that!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 9, 2024
This place is WOW! My colleagues and I were on a work trip for a few days and we chose this gem for dinner. It was all of our first time! We started with 2 appetizers, the scallop crudo and the prosciutto di parma. The scallops were so fresh paired with the almond was a perfect bite! And the prosciutto, mozzarella and homemade pesto was so authentic tasting it made me feel like I was back in Italy! We all ordered pizzas which are cooked in a coal fired oven and were delicious! We finished the meal with their tiramisu which was coffee forward and not too sweet and a round of limoncello shots from our server who was amazing. I had a couple of old fashioneds as well and they were perfection. The ambiance was gorgeous and intimate which I loved. Overall this place was amazing and when I go back to Austin, I will absolutely be back.

This place is nice but waaaay overpriced for a spot on east 6th. We ordered two glasses of wine, two pizzas, and another entrée. We split the bill and I paid over $60 before tip. The food was good but in no way worth that amount of money, especially where this restaurant is located. It did have a nice ambience. We picked the spot in a pinch when we were hungry during SXSW, and I think our money would have been better spent at any of the other places or food trucks along the street.

Swanky Italian place opposite of Ramen Tatsuya in East Austin.
For appetizer, we got their cheeseboard. The jam was FANTASTIC. The cheeses were distinct and tasty, but I'm not the hugest cheese lover so this was alright for me. The jam was fantastic.
I got the Amatricia, which is their potato gnocchi. It usually has meat in it, but I asked for no meat, and they were able to accommodate. Other than that, dish wasn't anything notable. The tomato sauce was nice and bright, and the gnocchi was on the softer side. The downside was that there was a hunk of cheese that I thought was gnocchi and I was in a rude cheesy awakening.
The servers were fantastic and attentive. Since the water cups are fairly small, they're constantly coming by to refill water, and I never felt a hint of thirst.
Overall, it's not a bad place, and it has a nice ambiance for a swanky date night, but in terms of food, I think I would go somewhere else.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Feb 10, 2024
Super cute restaurant and tasty food to boot. Service was super friendly and patient. We ordered a good sampling of food: olives, beet salad, olives, heirloom tomatoes, pizza of the day (broccolini with sausage), lasagna. Very tasty. Fresh ingredients and no complaints. I was pleasantly surprised with the portions, easy to share. The restaurant itself is super cute and very dark. Maybe a bit too dark inside, hard to read the menu, am I old?? Otherwise love all the greenery. I would come back for the patio too, looked nice.
