My friend raved about Humdinger, so we met there for supper. It was pretty busy - it's a popular place.
When our pizza arrived, both of my slices were miscut, and when I fit them together, one of my buddy's slices could lay over the top of mine and cover both of my slices completely.
I took this example to one of the pizza cooks, showing him that I'd paid for 2 slices of pizza that were, combined, smaller than 1 of every other slice being delivered to various other tables. The annoyed-looking guy responded, "Ok..?" and turned around and went back to work.
I ate my palsied pizza and held out hope that he was gonna bring me another slice so that I wasn't still hungry after paying for a meal that was half-sized. He didn't; they didn't give a rip that I'd been served scraps of pizza instead of the two slices I paid for.
The pizza tasted ok, for reheated pizza that's been sitting around for a while. I don't know if a regular-sized slice is worth the price they charge... but it's not *bad* pizza.
The non-customer-friendly service is what wrecked the experience for me. Well, that, and leaving feeling really hungry still.
I'll never eat at Humdinger Pizza again; the staff didn't care at all that I'd been demonstrably under-served. When we left I went next door and bought another meal.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 27, 2023
I'm pretty surprised this spot has 3.5 stars, however it may be due to the slices. While I got a whole pie instead of slices, I did notice the slices, at least at the time I was there, looked a bit stale as if they've been sitting around a while.
We ordered the humdinger size whole pie which we split half and half. This fed my family of 5.5 (half for a toddler) and it was plenty of food. Visiting family from New York which is known for great pizza, while it's hard to compare I think this is some of the best pizza I've had in Portland. It was not too think and not too thick, with a fairly generous amount of toppings.
Additionally they have a bar you can get a great beer selection at, and various arcade games (such as racing and Pac-Man) that is great for entertainment as you wait for the pizza to cook.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 9, 2023
I got Humdinger pizza and garlic knots for takeout one night recently when I didn't want to cook.
Ordering online was easy and it was ready when they said it would be. Free parking nearby but it can be hard to find a spot - they're on a corner in "downtown" Lents.
Their "compact" pizza is 12 inches, feeds one to two, and costs $16-22. They also have the "sedan" at 16" from $27-33 and a 24" big pizza for dine-in only (which you get a prize for if you eat by yourself in one sitting). Slices are $5.50. So it's all kinda pricy. Except for the garlic knots which are just $5.
Pizza was standard, thinner crust, good toppings, good size. Garlic knots were delicious and super oily and came with sides of marinara and ranch.
Not sure I'd return for regular price, but I might be back for their various weekly events and specials: Shifters Bar is next door for beer and cocktails. Trivia on Thursdays. Industry night on Sundays. $11.50 lunch specials on weekdays. Half price pizza when you buy two drinks on Wednesdays.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Tatyana M.Portland, OR14285Mar 19, 2024
Way overpriced pizza. And i know other place that sells more tasty with decent prices and tastes like real Italy.

Biggest slices in town. Not the best, not the worst. Great value. The pepperoni had an okay amount of grease (the more the better.) the most generous parmesan shaker I've ever shook. Decent selection of beers on tap. Hardly ever anyone here.

The sauce is tasty, well-herbed. A nice place is when you get extra parmesan it's in thin fresh flakes rather than the usual powder, and the hot peppers are actually hot. Guy working here super friendly, Good tap list featuring a couple breweries you don't see everywhere. Only disappoint meant was i couldn't get a grinder as they bread hadn't come in yet,

Even as a last resort, I probably would not come back to this place. Atmosphere felt unwelcoming to me, always very dark and cold, employees were not too helpful when trying to ask for recommendations, and the pizza was nothing to rave about. Sauce is very lack luster, too tangy not enough balance with seasoning. Like a canned sauce. Crust is very thin and inconsistent. Soft in some areas, dry in others. Not enough toppings at all. My pepperoni slice was 50/60% just cheese.

Overall: I came here for Pizza Week which wasn't bad but you could tell the staff was a bit unorganized.
Location: It's located on the corner of 92nd and Foster with street parking that can be extremely difficult but there is a small parking lot on 92nd which can also be difficult.
Menu/Service: They seem to have a lot of options but we came here specifically for Pizza Week which only had one option. Not surprisingly, they were extremely busy which seemed to have caused a bit of confusion between the staff members. You could easily tell several customers were starting to get frustrated waiting for their order. What disgusted me the most was I saw a team member use the same pair of tongs they use on the pizzas to grab the receipt to see what order was up next. This receipt was most likely touched by multiple people and being that we are in a global pandemic, probably not the best thing to do.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
