Want to feel like Bugsy Siegel in old Las Vegas? Hugo's Cellar is just the place to make that dream a reality. When you arrive, they give their female guests a long-stem rose as you are welcomed into the establishment. The ambiance is classic old-time Vegas and many of the staff have probably been there long enough that, to them, it's just Vegas.
Salads are made table-side as are desserts like Cherries Jubilee and Bananas Foster. Steaks are well seasoned and cooked to order.
I have seen some reviews that refer to the staff as a bit smug, aloof and off-putting. I think these guests are not used to being served by professionals who know their craft and are not going to make compromises in quality and service just because you might have a specific expectation. Go in there with the attitude that the chef and servers know how to provide the best experience and just let them do their thing. If you go in there with a Burger King "Have it Your Way" expectation you will be disappointed.
I will be back the next time I'm in Vegas. Love this place!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

This one hurts to write. We went to Hugo's based on rave reviews by a friend. From the gate you could feel the smug passive aggressive attitude by staff. The person busing the tables by far was the only person with a personality and a non annoyed look on their face..
They put an old fashioned in a Mai-Tai glass. That was the first red flag. We were baffled given the overall vibe is "fine dining"
Our server had a cute personality for 30 seconds when she took our food order. No one checked on us other than the overly aggressive salad guy. I felt scared to speak. He was yelling at you but in a somewhat friendly way. But confusing as someone telling their partner "do whatever you think is right". It's a trap.
2 hours later still no food. We waved the white flag and requested to tab out. We were asked to wait 3 more minutes, took her 15 mins to come back after that. We offered to have it to go. But honestly, didn't even want it anymore. It was so absurd and clearly we were not really welcomed because we had tattoos and didn't look like a Merrill & Lynch staff member. There was no apology for the excessively long wait on a Sunday night. But just hoping we can sit longer for subpar service. Drab and dull atmosphere. The one star was for the person who cleared our table. He was the only person who seemed to be doing anything and actually treated us like humans and not an inconvenience. Not to mention we racked up a $400 tab and could of easily done more if anyone bothered to even acknowledge we had a pulseHelpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a meal at Hugo's Cellar for my anniversary and wanted to write about it. This location right in the heart of 4 Queens and is the epitome of old Vegas vibes. The space is dark, warm and inviting with a touch of charm. We were welcomed by the host with a rose for my lady (lovely touch) and escorted to our table.
First I will talk about the pros...
The service was superb. All staff and supporting staff were friendly, courteous and helpful regarding the menu options. We were big fans of the table side salad made in front of us and the lemon sorbet pallet cleanser that followed, all excellent! Our food arrived (Duck and NY Strip) and they were delicious, especially for the price. Do not get me wrong this is a pricier establishment but the value of the food with the cost was totally fair. They had a broad menu and I'm sure we will enjoy the food here again in the future!
Now just a few of the cons...
Regarding the duck, it was tasty do not get me wrong, but could have used a bit more cook time to give the skin a little more char and less chew. Perhaps this is personal preference but still something we noticed. Also a majority of the chairs are NOT designed to keep you there very long. It is very clear this is not a lounge and chairs were lacking in overall comfort and support. And lastly (and I have seen this a lot) the bathroom is outside the actual restaurant and back in the casino. So whatever romantic illusions you had while in the cellar were brought immediately back to earth when trekking through the slots to the bathroom.
Overall, delicious food, excellent service and and lovely touch of old Vegas we truly enjoyed. Thank you for the experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Came here for Mother's Day and as per usual, it does not disappoint. Long stem roses for every woman that enters. Everything is included here -- no a La carte like on the strip. Each entree includes table side salad, veg, starch, dessert. It's so good. Great quality and the service is perfection. My mother had a great time. We shared a Wellington which was more than enough with everything included. I cannot recommend this place enough. Edy our waiter was awesome. Scott was an assistant waiter, also great. The whole staff is welcoming and I love the whole place -- dark, old school vegas tones. You must visit.

Excellent to hear that you both enjoyed the dining experience only Hugo's can offer. We love being your favorite. Thank you for sharing your dining experience and please visit again soon.
Dec 26, 2023Previous reviewStill my favorite steakhouse in Vegas. Meals include table side salad, starch, veggies, sorbet, chocolate covered strawberries/figs/apricots. SO much better than all the a la carte options in Vegas. The prices have definitely gone up the last two years, but I suppose everything has. The service was top notch. We went on Christmas Day which was busy! And, our service was excellent. Food was melt in your mouth. Still the old school Vegas feel with dark lights and reds/greens. We shared a Beef Welligton, both of us had all the fixings, both of us also had a martini (which is the size of 2 1/2 martinis anywhere else). With tax and tip it was about $200. Their meat are all large portions especially with everything else that comes included in the meal. They do charge $30 to split a steak, but you both get a full helping of salad, starch, veg, and dessert. Make a reservation and GO!

Such a wonderful experience!
If you are in the downtown area, I recommend checking out this hidden gem. Reservations are preferable, but I'd say book it ahead of time. Upon entering the downstairs corridor, the loud energy from Fremont dissipates, creating an intimate setting that is less noisy. A host greets you checks you in, and another host directs you to your table. They were both friendly and greeted with a smile. The experience started right when we sat down, and we got situated with water and adult beverages.. And mocktails!
Our server, Caesar, and his assistant (I'm sorry I forgot his name) were both great. They were both accommodating and had a great personality.
They start with a bread dish and come by with a salad presentation at your table, and you can choose which salad you'd like. There are three options: I had the vinegarette with roasted pine nuts, and two others had the Caesar salad. They give you time between the bread, salad, and entrees to bask in the delicious flavors! After enjoying the appetizers, they give you a small sherbet ice cream to cleanse your pallets. It was perfect!
The main entrees were terrific! Take a look.
I had the medium rare ribeye with garlic, mashed potatoes, and veggies. The mushrooms were so good that I should have ordered extra.
I hope you enjoy this restaurant as much as did. It was a nice ending with family and good vibes!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

It's been a long time since I've had a meal like I had at Hugo's! What a traditional, old fashioned fancy dinner. We were able to get in without a reservation, and enjoyed the ambiance. My boyfriend and I joked to each other that this feels like a place that the old timey gangsters may have made deals, with the cave-like feel in the stone walls and the low lights. Women got roses as they entered. Everything felt quite fancy and high class.
The menu is expensive, but it does come with multiple courses: fresh bread, a table-side made salad with all the fixins, a palate cleanser, and dessert are all included with entrees, as well as potato and veg. Modern "fancy" restaurants nickel and dime you for every portion, so it was nice to have some small courses included.
The service was wonderful. Little touches really made the magic throughout--for example, my martini came in a chilled carafe instead of an ice-filled cocktail shaker, meaning it wouldn't water down as I refilled my cup, and to make it even better it was the size of TWO martinis! The food is a bit basic for the price, but most courses arrive with such flourish that you forget that you could probably get the NY Strip next door for half the price. But will your lobster bisque be assembled right in front of you? I think not!
Speaking of, the bisque was lovely. A perfect entry to the meal. The salad of course was excellent, and the palate cleanser sorbet was tasty. Our meals, what we could eat of them by that point (having filled up on the earlier courses!) were decent and we enjoyed them. I got the pasta option (being pescatarian) and my boyfriend got the NY strip. Again, the quality doesn't QUITE seem to match the price, but for all the other accompaniments it's not as hard of a hit to the wallet for the portions you receive.
If we have another splurge night in Vegas, we absolutely will be back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Oh my, this was not just dinner. It is an event when you come here. Hugo's knows that if it is not broken, do not fix it. Every aspect of our meal was phenominal. The salad is amazing, and the steak melt in your mouth. The crab legs & jumbo prawns cooked to perfection.

Let me start by saying that the service was phenomenal! The ambiance was old school & warm & I loved the fact that ladies get a rose.
Starting with the bread basket, the pretzel bread was probably the best. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, however, I expected more for the sides. The table side salad was great & one of my favorite parts. They have fresh ingredients & great options for dressings.
My cocktail was delicious ! I love they have a full bar.
I feel like something is missing but I can't quite put my finger on it . Overall, I enjoyed my experience on NYE and plan to visit again, Steve, Scott & Carlos provided excellent customer service !Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

Well I'm sorry to say this place is horrible! The food and service was not even close to there prices! I would not come here. 20 years ago this place rocked! But now it's tasteless steaks and the Chilean sea bass was god awful. The only thing that was really good was the salad cart!

The restaurant is located in The Four Queens Casino , old school vibes for sure.
As for the restaurant , we walked in and were greeted by a nice professional staff.
I was handed a long stem rose before being led to our table. Classy touch.
The service was spot on, very attentive and nice.
They make the dinner salad table side which was delicious and made to our custom liking. Another nice touch.
The entree was good, my husband got the surf and turf , I got the seafood trio both meals well made.
Our only complaint would be the excessive amount of sauce they drowned the steak and seafood in.
We would have preferred to enjoy the flavors of the main course without the overwhelming amount of sauce.
Price point is on the higher side. The entrees do come with the salad and a shareable dessert which was some chocolate drizzled fruits and very good fresh whipped cream.
Overall a nice experience.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information
