Checked in at night, the front desk person was on the phone. Hardly spoke to me other than to ask my name and get my credit card. He was quite rude, did not advise on where to park or which entrance to use. The room temperature was 78 degrees. Air conditioner does not work. It made loud clicking noises all night. The drain is clogged and backs up in the bathroom sink. Housekeeper entered the room in the morning, despite there being a do not disturb sign. They charge $10 per person for a regular Holiday Inn continental breakfast. Waffle batter was empty. My kids weren't able to get drinks. There was no coffee. The morning front desk guy was also very rude also.
I did call IHG, but this is an independently owned hotel, and apparently despite displaying the brand logo, they do not have to follow IHG standards.

EDITED TO ADD: GM made it right. Came by the room with a new AC in tow, offered to change it out right then. We ultimately ended up moving to a different room with everything functioning well. First night was comped. The staff all around does really need training. I do hope that happens. The manager really did do all he could to make it right, so I'm grateful for that.

      Pros:
The pillows and mattress are super comfy.
      Toiletries smell wonderful.
      Decor is cute enough.
      Decent room AC.

      Cons:
Front desk staff could not care less. I'm surprised by the poor customer service and attitude of those who represent this hotel to visitors.
Windows in room do not open, not even a crack and the room is very stuffy and humid.
Bathroom has no exhaust vent. Shower steam just lingers- yuck.
Tub has a constant heavy drip. Maybe 8 oz of water a minute, maybe more.
Not enough toiletries or towels were provided.
No room service. Whatever we need or are lacking must be taken up with the front desk, meaning we need to go down to the lobby ourselves and get what we need.
      Funny smell throughout.

In addition, we called the front desk to extend our stay a night, but staff did not fix our room key. We were locked out of the side entrance to the hotel and had to walk around to the front to re-enter.
Three female employees were at the front desk just hanging out, which was confusing since we were told that issues were due to being understaffed. One woman was eating chips, not wrong, just not professional.
We told them about their error with our room card. No apologies or concern at all. One woman took our card and "fixed" the issue. We got to our room on the 3rd floor and the card still didn't work. Nice.

Came in at three so I could get ready early for a wedding I had the girl say my "room wasn't ready" so while sitting In the lobby waiting on my room the front desk phone rang for almost 3 minutes and no one answered. I got a 50 second video of the phone ringing and the desk unmanned. The girl that greeted my was staying in the back not at the desk to greet customers and She didn't seem to have very good customer service skills. The thermostat in our room was just broken not it didn't work well was just off and the toilet ran most of the night when I told the morning girl she said ok thanks have a good day very quickly and didn't seem to care.

I have had bad luck with hotels here lately and this one was added to the list :/

Room Isn't ready at 305 check in at 3 so sitting in the lobby studying

Not so good. Plenty of better options nearby. They actually charge you extra for breakfast. No bottled water. Glasses were dirty so we were scared to drink the tap water.

I'd say this is your typical Holiday Inn with regards to the rooms and amenities. My room had shower jets, which could have been nice, but it was tough to get the diverter to work right and get the jets and shower both on. The jets also had a lot of lime build up around them, I think a little CLR would really make it look a lot better.
The restaurant was typical of what I have seen before except no servers. You'd order at the counter and then it was kind of unclear what to do next. I saw some people putting their dishes on a cart, so I followed suit, but not sure what proper protocol was.
Overall, I'd stay here again if I was in the area... it's in an area with plenty of places close by to eat as well.

No towels in pool area I called and asked for towels no towels were brought. I just went down to the fitness center to work out this morning no towels in there either. A water dispenser however there are no cups just an empty Kleenex box. And it's hot in there the AC needs to be turned on at least.Rude Hispanic lady works evening shifts said she would bring towels last night never did. Had A previous encounter with her on the telephone when she acted like she was too busy to help me and didn't know any answers. Other than that the stays been pretty good, it's a clean facility nice rooms bedrooms comfortable beds and it's conveniently located. There is mold on all of the chairs and loungers in the pool area that needs a ventilation system, lots of exposed wires hanging off of the wall looks like they're fixing something or they need to.

I came here for a two night stay. The parking is free and they were able to check me in early (before 3 pm).

There are only 4 floors and two elevators. Sometimes the elevator made funny noises like it was about to break down and stop. The rooms are spacious but not updated with plugs. Not enough plugs near the bed or the plugs were far from a countertop so you would have to lay it on the floor. My mini refrigerator had bad suction so it didn't stay cool. Also, I think if you unplug the coffee pod maker it is connected to the refigerator. I don't know how but it did.

The first night, was a good sleep until the sun came out. The curtains part in the middle and you can not pull them shut and can not over lap. I was up with the sun. I just layed there for 4 hours until it was time to get up. Ugh, I was so tired.

The cleaning lady called on the phone before stopping by. That was nice. Then, I mentioned the curtains and ask if there was a way to keep the sun out. She said she would take care of it. She did!!! She used binder clips to overlap the curtains. She was a lifesaver! The next time I slept, it was for 11 hours!!!! The bed has two kinds of pillows, soft and hard! I love the variety and in between! I can't have two softs or my head sinks, I can't have two hards and neck will ache, so one soft and one hard was perfect. The bed was very comfortable! The best in any hotel I have stayed in.

Nothing was stolen. What more can you want from a hotel. That is a fear I have. So, it was a good hotel that the wedding couples picked.

Load of things to do in the area. Just about 15 minutes in every direction was something else to do.

We came to McKinney for a friend's wedding and this was one of the hotels they recommended. I've never stayed at a Holiday Inn before because I've always thought they weren't the best but man was I wrong!

They are currently doing some renovations to this hotel so if you ignore the crazy noise and know it's all for the better you'll this hotel as much as we did. The front desk receptionist let us check in early and we were so happy!

Our room was wonderful and spacious. The mattress was brand new and the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. They provided all the items you might need in the bathroom: shower cap, vanity set, mouth wash, etc.

They also have a Keriug in the room for coffee and tea, the TV was large, closet space was good and they had this little "mud room" area that made it really convenient to unpack.

      I highly recommend this hotel!

The only pros about this place is that the staff is friendly and the lobby looks nice.

Cons: Pool is closed, $6 breakfast with few choices, none of the ice machines work (customers have to go to the front desk with the ice bucket, which the clerk takes to the back to be filled), the walls are so thin that other residents can easily be heard, and only one of the two computers in the "business center" actually works (the second one has a permanent blue screen displayed.

All in all, there's no doubt that IHG has grossly neglected this location and it is not much better than that of a Motel 6 or Super 8. I'm in my first night here and greatly regret blind booking this third rate place at which corporate should have had some people fired a while back.

Last time I was here, the third and fourth floors caught on fire before I returned from a music gig, and it was at least an hour before I was able to retrieve my items and make a 45 minute drive home at 3 a.m.

I'm at the point of planning on asking Hotwire for a refund after tomorrow and if they don't cooperate, I'll put in for a transaction dispute with my bank for the many deficiencies at this location.

Don't stay here if you want get some rest. Check out is noon but at 9:30AM I had 3 different people for 30 minutes knocking on the door. I finally called the front desk to make them stop knocking and trying to make me get out of the room. Then doors slamming all morning long with the maids. There was mold in the shower, and on the trim work in the bath room, mirror in bathroom had not been cleaned. Bad experience won't stay here again
