So today my 80 year old parents had a problem with their car. They didn't want to bother me with it so they took their car to Hoffman Chevy in Hagerstown md. They had a vibration in the right front wheel. I assumed it was a bad caliper causing the rotor to warp. They were charged $115.00 just to look at it for 5 minutes to determine what the problem was. $1400 later they get back on the road. This place is a joke and should be ashamed to take advantage of older people. My dad has Alzheimer's and probably didn't even understand what bullshit they gave him. This job parts and labor shouldn't have been no more than 1 hr labor and maybe $200 in parts. Total no more than $350.00. Son of a bitches got them for over $1000.00. Assholes. Karma is a bitch.

WARNING, DO NOT GET YOUR CAR-SUV-JEEP FIXED HERE!!
My husband and I own a 2012 Jeep Rubicon. We purchased the Jeep new in Frederick MD, but after moving to Hagerstown, we dedicated it take it to a closer dealer.
We did a lot of our mileage updates there, at an extremely costly expense.
When the Jeep needed real work done, such as engine work and our heating and air conditioner fixed, we brought it in 4 times.
The first time we got work done, was due to something wrong with the engine, it seem to spiral downward from there...
The other three times were due to the heater and A.C. The first winter I noticed the heater wasn't fixed, was after I took over the Jeep from my husband, and I just assumed, Jeeps were just cold in the winter, the second time we got it fixed, was in the Spring and by the time winter started we realized it didn't work. Then the third time we noticed it didn't work, my husband had gotten very sick and we lost two close family members and didn't have the opportunity to take it back... (they told us every time to much time had gone by)
We easily sunk in $6,500 in work that was never done properly..
Just recently we drove it to Jeffry Lube in Hagerstown, next to the Sams Club to get an oil change. Two mechanics noticed immediately by the noice, what the issues were, and they recommend us to the BEST place.
We took it there and finally we got all the issues fixed properly.. Plus it cost us 80% less than what Hoffman's changed us for NOT FIXING it!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Heather C.Hagerstown, MD01May 13, 2015First to Review
If I could give no stars I would. The service staff are very abrasive and rude. We have to call the district manager. May car has been there 6 Times in the last 2,weeks. Stay far far away.

I stopped by dealership 1/2/19 to get price on 2019 Grand Cherokee. It was like I walked into a cage of Pit Bulls. I took a brief test drive in the vehicle, It was dark so I could see nothing inside the vehicle, I was not explained any of the features of the vehicle, but before I realized what had happened the sales person Dianna and her boss Mike (New sales people whom they bring in when they have their sales events) was shoving me out the door with contract in hand of the new 2019 that I just purchased. I was generously given(according to them) $14,800 for my exact same looking 2015 Grand Cherokee. I was told I had to leave my vehicle there because it now belonged to them. They ripped my handicap plates from my car and replaced with their dealer tags and was told to bring their car back next day and take possession on the 2019 that I really couldn't take possession of because as I kept explaining to them didn't have a running board on and I am 5'1 and have a disabled husband that can't get into the car without a running board. I was told by Mike they would order the running boards and I had to pay them to put them on. My 2015 already had running boards & I told them to take them off my car and put them on the 2019 this would make more sense as I would not have a vehicle I could drive until others was ordered, shipped & put on. Mike said he was not going to take the running boards off my 2015 trade in as he had priced the trade in with those running boards on. I did return the next day and said I was not going to take possession on the 2019 unless the running boards was transferred from my trade in to the new vehicle. He agreed to that, but when I said we could have it done at their service center Mike said "I wouldn't have any work done here". So that goes to show what these sales people think of Hoffmans service dept. I might add I have only had minor repairs done & oil changes and I find their service department does a good job. I also had a $500 rebate that was never honored from Mike or Dianna, she said they would look into that. As of today I have never been shown or told of any of the features of the 2019 that I now have. One of the regular sales persons did pair my phone to the vehicle the night I drove it off the lot. Thats the only instructions I have received with my new purchase. I have bought many new and used cares from Hoffmans over the past 40+years, but will never buy another from this location. And what I did learn out of all this is you are not the owner of any vehicle until you physically drive it off the lot. I could have changed my mind at any time although according to Dianna, Mike and the person who drew up the sales contract, the car was mine at the signing of paper work. I was lied to, stolen from and feel very betrayed by this dealership and the Pit Bull sales people they employ. Hope you guys got paid off my sale because there will never be another! Do also hope this will help future buyers & make them aware of Hoffmans underhanded sales tactics.

I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee with 48,000 miles, where the engine started stalling on me at 45,000 miles. I took it here for a diagnosis and they advised that the engine would need to be replaced because the damage was internal. They advised that the powertrain warranty would cover it. They had my vehicle for over a week and when i got it back, I have had problems since. The very 1st day after picking the vehicle up, i drove it home, parked it in the driveway and when i came out, it would not start. All the internal lights and instruments lit up, but the starter showed no signs of turning over, there was absolutely no noise at all. They towed it in, could not find anything wrong as it started when they got it there. They kept it a few days, gave it back to me and I had no problems for a few weeks. I drove it on a family trip to Cleveland the weekend after Thanksgiving and it decided not to start once, outside a Target, while there. After a few minutes, it came to life and i had no problems with it. Then a few days later, it wouldn't start when i left the house to take my son to work. Again, they towed it in, it started, they kept it nearly a week, went and picked it up. Then again last night, it would not start when leaving the house to go grocery shopping. My wife recorded a video of it not working. I finally got it started after fighting with it for about 8 - 10 minutes, drove it out here, no rental cars available, so i had to drive it home. I've researched this issue online and many folks indicate that it is most likely a ground wire to the starter or the transmission range sensor, i advised the service rep i was working with before of these items and he blew me off by stating that he has worked for Chrysler for years and have never heard of this, yet you can search it online and many forums and webpages come up. I have worked on cars in my lifetime and can usually diagnose what is wrong even if i can't fix it, but for him to not even look into this, is unacceptable. I did not have this issue of the car not wanting to start until they replaced the engine. I feel that they need to look at this issue thoroughly and get it fixed.
