Decent. Great location, staff friendly, mediocre hotel. Wake up calls sketchy.

      Staff does not answer phones.

The location is central to downtown/many great spots. The staff is very friendly, accommodating and competent.

The hotel needs updating. The carpets drag luggage wheels, the bathroom tubs are elevated making them a potential danger, all else just a three except for the pillows. The pillows are the Awesome - capital A.

I like to stay with the Hilton brand, earn Hilton points. Typically Hilton Garden Inns are perfect for brief business trips. These two factors led me to the HGI Phoenix Midtown.

      Let's start with what's wrong.

      1. Parking is a CitySquare visitor lot 2 blocks away. No cover on the lot nor any security. Worse is the fact one needs to walk to/from there in 120-degree heat. And - each time you leave the lot you require a new validated card from the front desk. Reality? Brutally bad parking situation.
      2. Painfully slow check in. Hotel was like a morgue and check in was still slow.
      3. To get from front desk to my room I had to walk outside in 120-degree heat.

      Some things were right.

      1. Room was huge and spacious.
      2. Shower was boiling hot.
      3. Room was dead quiet.
      4. Nice Keurig machine in room.

This is an old badly beat up Hilton property. Surprised Hilton allows this. I can't see myself ever staying here again. This was an old hotel that time forgot.

I chose this hotel over the downtown location because the reservation could be canceled without penalty. The location is good and the staff was nice. The room we booked advertised 2 Queen or 1 King sized beds. When we checked in, the room that was provided had two queen sized pedestals with 1 each full sized mattresses! After whacking my shins several times on the over hanging pedestals I went down and requested another room which was provided without complaint. The replacement was a nice corner room with a king sized bed. The rooms have TV, WiFi, mini fridge and a small microwave. Parking is free but you pay for it by having to have your ticket for an off location lot validated every time you leave the hotel. Not a problem unless the front desk is busy or vacant but the lot isn't far, just a short walk across the street.
The hotel is old and needs paint, trim and a good cleaning. Entryways, sidewalks, windows and floors were in need of cleaning or sweeping. The pool says heated but was very cold. There is a hot tub that was nice but the pool deck was dirty, towels are limited and there was a pile of dog shit along the pool fence that remained on the deck without being picked up for the entire 4 day stay. Overall it really depends on what you pay to stay here. Just be aware it's not a 5 star Hotel but the prices are still pretty high for the quality of the stay. I think the ownership is stretching the "Hilton Garden" brand expectation at this place. It doesn't measure up!

Super disappointed honestly. The bed I slept on was crap. The sheets were dirty so we asked to have them changed and she obviously wasn't too happy but changed the pillowcases first and put them on the very huge brown-stained chair and dropped them on the floor as well, like I wouldn't notice. The door had a crack at the top, wasn't securely closed and we also heard hallway noise as a result. No bang for buck. Wouldn't stay again. Pool looked decent. Parking lot is close but a walk, not right on the actual premises so would recommend unloading and then parking. Having to validate each time we wanted to leave was annoying and the part of town is by a ton of schools.

I stayed here after coming off a long flight. I checked in around 12a. The lady was nice to direct me to the elevator. I get to my room, it seemed like I was in a prison. They had put me in the corner. The view was horrible on the 2nd floor. I turned on the faucet to brush my teeth, I got a trickle. So, I went to the bathtub, turned on the water, and brown water came out gushing. What kind of hotel would put a guest in a room like that. I just went to sleep. Ps, I used the trickle to wet my toothbrush before I went to sleep. I woke up at 6a to a text saying sorry for the water. I went to the front desk, spoke to Steve the front desk manger, he was nice and apologized. He gave me a nice room. A room I should e had from the beginning. Enjoy the video I posted of my experience. I don't recommend this place at all. Yet, I still PAID FULL PRICE! Smh!

Right when i walked in, I was greeted by the staff. I arrived early and room wasn't ready, until the manager asked if I was a Hilton rewards member. Once I gave them my number, I was treated like a vip! Yes, the hotel needs a little face lift, but the staff all weekend were so friendly and kind! I would for sure come back to this hotel.
      Great work team!
I think the managers name was Steven who runs a great team!

Hey! Not bad! I liked it. I wish I hadn't stayed here (I got done with work really late, and I had to be at work much earlier than normal, so I didn't want to drive home and back and miss out on the hour of sleep I'd spend driving.)

Anyway, I was able to make a reservation I'm the Hilton app a free hours before checking in. Parking is free and well lit. BUT it was a long way from the west tower, and I left stuff on my car (I was really tired), so I had to walk back.

The room was nice. The heat was on, and when I checked out, I told the front desk, and they apologized and comped me because the a/c was supposed to be on. The room was so hot.

I would like to come back. The pool is 10'3" deep. I haven't seen a pool this deep in a hotel before! I'd love to come in the summer just to use the pool!

My stay at this Hilton location was less than satisfying and far below my expectation for a Hilton property.

The walkway to my room was outside. I am happy that it wasn't raining. The walkway was covered with four huge and gorgeous flowering plants, but they were trimmed to accommodate a person about 5'8". I am 5'11" and had to bend my neck to the side to walk though. (See photo) Ridiculous! The plants should have at least been trimmed to the height of a doorway. Geez

Next was the well worn footstool in my room. (see photo) It really should have been replaced.

Next is the shower head ring that was not attached to the wall. (See photo)

Finally, the restaurant was closed (COVID-19) so they were offering breakfast boxes. When I came down at 8:00 am to grab one, none were left and I'd have to wait 15 minutes. My Uber was on its way.

I will say that the cleaning staff did a great job keeping things clean - the reason for two stars.

      Don't stay here.

What do you get when you put lipstick on a pig? A pig..... with lipstick. For a weeknight rate of $277 I would expect so much more, so much better and so much newer.

When you put new tile in a bathroom with a tub that needs reglazing, or a granite surface on a 40 year old cabinet, you are putting lipstick on a pig. The room was very large but the king sized mattress was hard as a rock. No breakfast was offered but I had a chance to buy a "bagged" breakfast snack bag for $8. Included in the bag was a bowl of freaking Froot Loops.

This is a Hilton property? For shame.

This is the second time we've stayed here. The first time was almost six years ago. We were there for a concert nearby and didn't spend much time in the hotel.

This time around, we arrived early. I had done my research. I had forgotten about the none accommodations, If you can call it that. So when we checked in I knew that first, there would be no bellhop. No help parking and definitely no valet!!! You have to pull up to the tiny driveway, go inside and check in. Then back to your car to unload your luggage, ( if you're like me, you travel with several bags) a girl needs options! ;) Thankfully we found one lonely cart to place our luggage. My husband loaded the bags and took them to our room. I had to drive our car around the corner to a parking lot, that we paid for, if course. Then walk the way back. Our room was on the west tower so we walked right by the pool.

I have to mention that the reason it gave it only three stars is because the room walls were so thin that I could hear every word from every conversation both in the room next door and the one across the hall.

The rooms were plenty big. Of course, I got a suite with a pool view. But the annoying conversations were just too much. I have to say, the hotel is old. The prices were reasonable because of its dated decor and other than the pool, there really wasn't that much going on.

Several of the reviews complained about the bed. Ours was great, so that's a plus.

We're used to staying at 4/5 star resorts. However, we knew this weekend was just for the St. Paddy's celebrations all around town. So we'd spend little time in the actual hotel. we chose one available close to our destination, which was important. In the end, it was basically the saying, " you get what you pay for" under $200 dollars during Spring break, Spring training, St Patrick's weekend and the Pot o' Gold festival across the street, it wasn't going to be a resort type deal.

I think if they get Valet, plus a real good upgrade on the decor and better wall insulation, LoL, this place could really be a four star for me. If ever in a tight spot for availability, we'd return.
