Are you still in business? I had a delivery order cancelled with no reason given, and I noticed the name changed from Simply Chai to Hidden Grounds, so I'm very confused what's going on.

Nicole, Oh that’s interesting. We did change our name. It might’ve been cancelled since Yelp sometimes doesn’t update to the new menu… more

A delicious Indian twist on BEC, donuts, & lattes. Wanted to co-work in a new environment & this hidden grounds was cutest - somehow I've passed this coffee shop never knowing it existed! The food was amazing, the cashiers were nice & helpful, and the drink was amazing too! They had outlets, comfort, & culture...what more can I ask for!
I was there about 4hrs and there was always at least 2 seats available. I couldn't finish all my food during that time - it was so filling surprisingly. The sandwich is larger than you'd imagine & the donut is large & quite sweet so not easy for me to eat in one sitting.
Definitely can't wait to return for other menu items!
Go, enjoy!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 5, 2024
Very cute coffee shop!
The prices are very good, and they have really innovative donuts. I tried the pistachio donut, and it was amazing. The dough was soft and fluffy, and it was not too sweet. The cream cheese croissant was heavenly - semi-sweet cream cheese and crispy, warm bread. I haven't tried the drinks yet, but I saw lots of creative options.
Staff are extremely friendly. There is wifi, lots of tables, and a great study environment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 20, 2023
This review is based on the donuts. I so wanted to like them, and since they were gulab jamun, it was pretty unique. The bases were all a bit cloying, and it was hard to take more than one bite. I preferred the rose the most, which surprisingly wasn't too floral or drenched in Rose syrup, while the pistachio was the worst with a chemical artificial taste to it. The Salted caramel and the apple crumble were just alright too.
I got a masala chai as well which was good and flavorful (albeit with lots of sediment in the bottom), so I'd stick to the non-donut options here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hey Austin,
Thank you for your insightful feedback regarding our donuts. Indeed, the intense sweetness of our donuts is intentional, mirroring the traditional flavor profile of Gulab Jamun. For those seeking a less intense sweetness, we recommend our Cinnamon Sugar donut or croissant, which offer a more balanced taste experience.
Regarding the Masala Chai, you're absolutely right about its traditional preparation. It involves boiling a mixture of water, spices, black tea, sugar, and milk. The process includes a double boiling step, which enhances the flavors. The final step is to strain the tea using a metal mesh filter, which often leaves some black tea sediments at the bottom of the cup. This characteristic sediment is a hallmark of authentic Masala Chai.
We truly value your time and effort in sharing this review.

Came in here for an early morning matcha. I wanted to try a stove top chai but couldn't do the sugar unfortunately. The staff was so wonderful in explaining the sugar to me as well and patient with me as I made my order decision. I opted for a matcha latte with almond milk and let me tell you it was one of the best matchas I have had in the US from a coffee shop. It was fresh, the almond milk was incredibly creamy and it was filled to the brim! I couldn't stop drinking it and it was gone fast. It was $7 but honestly the quality was amazing and I would happily spend that again for their matcha. The place itself was so cute inside as well and big for a coffee shop in Hoboken! Would definitely come back here especially to try their stove top chais. Their pastries and donuts looked amazing as well.

Oh, I just wanted to share my thoughts about this place! While the coffee might not be mind-blowing, I have to say the chai tea is absolutely delightful. It's so full of flavor! As for whether I'll be back... well, maybe

I finally managed to visit the Hidden Ground Coffee location near the Hoboken Train Station the other day. The shop was cute, spacious, and cozy. It also offered a width breadth of food and beverage items, all with an Indian flare. I ordered the Ginger Chai, which was a fiery hot blend of soothing spices. In fact, you could feel the granular spices in each mouthful of tea. Even with my addition of almond milk, the drink was served rather hot, which was nice on the cold afternoon. I did ask for them to leave out the added scoop of sugar they typically include and did not think the chai particularly needed it. In addition to accommodating that request, the staff was otherwise friendly. I was thrilled to find a new coffeeshop that was unique and noticeably different from the many others in town. I will definitely be back!

Your description of the Ginger Chai really captures the essence of what we aim for in our beverages – a rich, spicy experience that warms you up, especially on those chilly afternoons. We're glad to hear that our team was able to customize your chai to your liking without the extra scoop of sugar.
It's wonderful to know that our unique approach and Indian flair stood out to you amidst the many coffee shops in town. Thank you for giving us a try and for your kind words about our staff and the overall experience.
We can't wait to welcome you back for more ginger chai or perhaps something new from our menu that you haven't tried yet!
See you soon,

small independent cafe with pretty good coffee. I ordered a simple Americano and had it with a bit of 1/2 & 1/2. Nicely decorated with an Indian flair. Great place to sit and rest and relax. 1/2 a block from Hoboken Path & NJ Transit terminal

A few weeks ago I was hanging wirh my peeps in New Jersey for a few days.
My cousin decided to go to the dentist in an office 2 blocks away from this place.
Since I've always enjoyed the vinlbe in Hoboken I went with.
I got a welcoming vibe from the staff.
The coffee was nice and strong.
It was very Chilled out.
I even made a client call from my computer to one of my mining clients in . It wasn't very loud and I think I didn't disturb anyone. My cousins dentist cancelled his root canal so we Chilled out another 2 hours. This place is right near the path train and if I'm ever back in Hoboken I will for sure come back. By the way there was music but I appreciated it not being so loudHelpful 7Thanks 1Love this 9Oh no 0Business owner information

Love this place, went here a bunch of times when we were staying in Hoboken!
The New Orleans cold brew coffee with oat milk is incredible. Also had the Bombay sandwich which was pretty good and a solid chocolate croissant. The rose chai is a hard pass if you've had good chai before.
Staff is super nice as well. Would def go again for the coffee!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information
