Good, homemade food. Everything is priced very cheaply, daily lunches and family operated. Great service.

I wonder if it's called Grumpy's because that is how you feel after you wait over an hour to get your food. It was very hard not to walk out. I has never taken so long to get food ever.

There was one larger party of about 10 people and another couple of women seated when we arrived.
We ordered just after we walked in. My husbands side salad came after 30 minutes. 40 plus minutes later his red beans and rice with sausage was served along with my cup of gumbo. My shrimp salad came out 5 minutes later.

The food tasted good. It was hot and fresh. It just took too long to be served. Did they run out of something and have to go buy more? As we left we noticed the car we had parked next to was now in a different spot and facing out when it had been in when we arrived.

The service was unremarkable. After taking our order and bringing water the waitress never checked on us. She never explained why the food was so slow or if we needed anything while we waited.

Other customers complained about the delay with the food.

Red beans and rice and cup of seafood gumbo.

Great place to try my first gumbo ever was very surprised with how it did not taste like fish but filled with great flavor next time I will definitely ask for more rice.

First time eating gumbo and it is not what I imagined does not taste like seafood one bit filled with flavor.

We stopped by Grumpy's after our airboating tour. Loved the food and atmosphere. It felt like an old diner. The female server was very helpful to us tourists. I was a PoBoy rampage when we were in New Orleans so I ordered a shrimp poboy. It was decent! Freshly made for sure. We had a catfish PoBoy and that was awesome! Fried chicken PoBoy was good. Friend Cauliflower .. Yum!. Onion rings to die for!

It was a fun experience ! And had decent food!

Stayed in houma and wanted to meet a friend from Kenner halfway. Lol there was really nothing halfway but saw this place with good reviews and decided to try it.

Place is easy to miss bc no big signs really so look out for it.

Such a nice comfy place to eat. Our waitress was definitely amazing and friendly. The definition of southern hospitality.

Had a caramel milkshake, oyster poboy and mozzarella sticks. I have nothing bad to say. The oysters were fried really well the batter was tasty. The mozzarella surprisingly has a lot of gooey cheese it was better than a lot of mozzarella I've tried and the batter was good. If you like mozzarella sticks. Try it.

Friend had the special corn and crab bisque in a bread bowl. The soup was flavorful. Bread bowl was okay nothing special.

The sign at the front counter said it all: "Fast food is not good. Good food is not fast." I read other reviews and was just as happy with the service and quality of food. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of portions.
Overall, we had a great experience at this restaurant. We posted several pictures of our food. We also had the BTL, children's grilled cheese, a few malts, and a sno-ball to go. Everything was good and left is with no disappointments or regrets.
We had a large order and we did have to wait about 50-60 minutes for our food, but I guess we expected that after reading other reviews.
I might suggest that you order ahead and take out or arrive when it's ready and eat in.

The food was great and the price was fair. The only thing that annoyed a bit was that it was really slow.

Heard that they had good burgers. Order myself a regular cheese burger and it did not live up to the hype. They used frozen beef (which is not really a problem) but it had a funny taste like, they didn't cook it long enough. The beef, It was hot but watery. Also idk why they love Elvis so much, all the pictures of him in the restaurant just seems so obsessive. I'll give them a second chance soon, and I WILL be writing another review ;).

I think it's called grumpy cause you leave that way after eating :) it's definitely not the service as that was excellent and courteous and sweet. Don't order the side salad as it should be called side lettuce as it's just shredded iceberg. Sorry but a salad is a mix of greens. The gumbo was ok but like someone else said it's tiny shrimp and shouldn't be. Wasn't much else in it but tasted just ok. Had the hamburger steak and that was just mediocre as well. Small town diner feel but food lacked for me. I was thinking it was going to be good with a slogan like fast food is not good and good food takes time. You should add quality ingredients to make the latter true.
