Garber Porsche of Rochester. Terrible!!! Drove 1hr. to test drive a Porsche. Said we were interested and asked the salesman (Tim Carney) if we should leave a deposit on the car. We were told it wasn't necessary since we were there and drove the car. We left a message the next day saying we were definitely interested.
We sent Tim photos of our car (stored for the winter) to get a trade-in estimate which we also said wasn't necessary for the sale. Tim was off three days over Thanksgiving so we waited until Sat. to call. He answered and said he would call back in 20min.
HE NEVER CALLED!!!!!
This salesman was impossible to talk to even after leaving messages on his cell and office phones. He never returned calls .
We then received an email stating that there was a deposit on the car!!! Still could not contact Tim.
The last email said the car was gone!!!
Tim Carney sold this car out from underneath us!!! He is the worse car salesman we have EVER dealt with!!!!!
One more thing, a follow up email to the sales manager, Ken Mariotti, was never answered either.

When I wrote this review earlier, Garber Collision (which is located in the same complex as Garber Automotive( did not have a yelp entry. I guess the changeover from John Holtz automotive was not quite complete & Yelp hasn't caught up to all of the name changes that transpired.
The first crack at repairing the bumper on my wife's Acura did not go smoothly during this period of transition, unfortunately. There was a bit of mis-communication from the shop as to when the repair would be complete. While the resultant repair appeared to be complete, we had issues with the aftermarket part used to complete the repair (which took almost three weeks). Needless to say, by the time summer rolled around the bumper had started to pop out.
Good news was that the Garber Collision team fully covered the cost of swapping out the bumper for a new part. Even provided a loaner for my wife! Turned her frown upside down & renewed my faith in Garber.
I'll flesh out this review later and move it to the Yelp entry for Garber collision...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gerald D.Penfield, NY02Sep 6, 2017
Just bought a new Honda Ridgeline at Garber. I ended up with a good deal but I Had deal with a high pressure, old school negotiation that took hours. Then they added an additional $ 270 to the final contract that I had to fight to get them to remove.
Also had to bring in to fix a vent the week after I got it. My sales person said he'd arrange a loaner car for me and when I took it in, no loaner car had been set up for me.
Don't think I'll do business with Garber again and will seek out another Honda dealership for service going forward.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kelly S.Mooresville, NC7421Apr 24, 2020Updated review

Thank you Kelly for the feedback and your experience at Garber Honda and with Mark Cassata. We hope you enjoy your civic!
Sep 17, 2013Previous reviewi just bought a 2013 honda civic from garner and i am happy with my car and was happy with the service. i am young but with seeing my parents do the whole car shopping thing and this being my first brand new car i do not usually get along with car dealers as i find a lot of them to be pushy and overbearing. this dealership is very relaxing and i got a good vibe when i walked in. i needed a car quick under circumstances i was in and with civics being a popular car it was a job to go around rochester to see who would offer a 20 year old like myself a good deal. mark cassata is a great salesman go to him for your next honda!

My wife and I both had leases from another dealership and were fed up with their shenanigans. By recommendation we went to Garber Used we met Dan and started looking. NOT ONCE were we ever pressured about anything. We discussed finances and affordable payments, and were shown what was in our range. And also made it known that they can also find us what we'd like. As long as they are around they have gained a customer for life.
Then had a tiny issue with my truck and went for service. Holy crap George was awesome!! Honest, upfront and quick.
Thank you guys!!

Thank you for allowing Garber Pre-Owned the opportunity to earn your business. I certainly hope we lived up to the recommendation you were given. I am glad to hear you enjoyed working with Dan Moreno and that our service department took great care of you when there was a minor issue with the truck. Thank you again!

Yesterday my wife and I went to Garber Honda to try and buy a new Honda CRV. I have to say it was my worst experience trying to buy a car. The salesman was rude and very unprofessional. When I wanted to leave he started screaming at me and saying you are not leaving yet! On my way out he said we don't need your business.
Almost 5 years ago I bought my Honda Accord there and the salesman was nice. Now since Garber bought the dealer its a different place. If I treated customers the way that guy treated me I would be out of a job!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Bethany M.Rochester, NY41132Aug 15, 2013Updated review
I have to write an update to this post as I was extremely impressed with the response we received from Garber Honda upon bringing these issues to their attention. Immediately upon recognizing the mistakes that were made in the servicing process, the collision manager and local managing partner sat down with us to genuinely apologize for the level of service we experienced.
The apology issued on behalf of Garber Honda was truly a representation of their customer service values and I was thoroughly impressed with the way they handled the situation. Not just issuing an apology, the staff took full responsibility for the breakdown in processes that occurred and assured us that this was not the standard they are known for, nor is it considered acceptable.
I can confidently say that Garber Honda met their mission of developing repeat customers through the way in which they handled a less than ideal situation. It is an undeniably difficult task to turn a negative customer experience into something positive and I am impressed with the time, attention and respect that was paid to us in resolving our concerns. Honda's staff turned thier errors into a learning opportunity and provided exceptional customer service in their response.
We plan to use their services in he future and expect that it will be a very different, positive experience. A big kudos to the Garber Honda staff for the way in which they won our repeat business.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Aug 12, 2013Previous reviewRun, don't walk, away from this place! I was mortified with the experience here... We took our car here for repairs because we were initially impressed with the customer service after having a simple tire rotation and oil change performed here. The repair shop operates on a completely different level, though - as in basically nonexistent customer service.
The car was slated to be completed in a week. A week and a half and no phone call later, we called to follow up only to be informed that work had not even begun on the vehicle due to miscommunication with the insurance company. Apparently this delay was not determined to be worthy of an informational phone call...
On to week two, we were assured that the car would be ready by Friday at the latest. It was communicated to the service shop at this point that having the vehicle back by then was imperative due to impending obligations. Friday evening, still no call. Again, we followed up only to be told that the vehicle would not be ready until Monday. After rearranging personal and work plans due to this inconvenience, once again we awaited a status update on Monday only to find out now (at 6pm Monday evening) that... Surprise... The car is still not ready.
I am absolutely appalled at the lack of communication and professionalism in this entire scenario. I used Nu Look Collision in the past and will be 100% referring people to them over this atrocity. That's the last time we go into car repairs without doing more thorough research! - Theron R.Sicklerville, NJ03Jun 17, 2018
I purchased a car for this dealership online. Once the car arrived there were repairs needed. The sales manager Mike Rotola agreed to repair the car. It is now June and the repairs still aren't completed. Please ,,if your buying from this dealership make sure the repairs are done before you purchase the car. Actually ..... don't buy from them at all !!!!!

I'm reviewing the collision center, as I have no experience with the other parts of Garber other than buying wiper blades from their Audi parts shop (and that experience was like buying wiper blades from a parts store as you would expect). By the way, I'm from Pittsford NY but commute to Medford MA, so don't think my Medford MA tag means I wouldn't know.
I had a collision repair done on my Audi there. I found them professional, super courteous, and they went out of their way to show me what needed to be done, worked with my insurance and made sure it was done right. I met Dave, the manager, and found him to be exceptionally customer service oriented. He even took me out to the shop to show me what they found and explain the repair to be performed, then later on in the experience he brought Wayne, one of the shop guys, out to explain what he fixed. About the only tiny niggle I had was the insurance company knew that Garber had finished the repair and called me before Garber called me, but we're talking less than 3 hours difference here (and the insurance company wanted rid of me as quick as possible, as they were up for a rental car cost), so it wasn't an issue at all. I had not read about Garber on Yelp prior to going there, and after my experience I'm surprised to see the previous review, as that is not what I found. I'll be choosing to go back there for collision repair for sure.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
