In summary: great food with a good value!
This place is really a gem. I mean. The city of Buford (not talking about Buford Hwy folks -- though technically it is sort of on the northern part of Buford Hwy) isn't known for their stellar Asian food. So to find a really great Korean spot here was mind blowing. And omg. The price was great!
My choice of the Gam Cho bowl in the mini version with pork gu-i and sweet white sauce was super good! It's rare that I say this to Korean food, but then again, I don't think I have had this before: steamed rice, japchae noodles, and other veggies and sauces. Perhaps I was hungry, but the flavors were perfect. The pork was tender and delectable.
The significant other's dup bab with bulgogi was pretty good as well. He choose the kang jeung sauce (sweet + spicy) with his beef choice. I'm not a fan of the sauce bc bulgogi is semi sweet already, but the dup bab was good nonetheless.
Both entrees were $13 and def filled us. Yeah! :) The simple menu was a plus as well.
This little place has a few tables and chairs (6 or 7 two-seater tables), but I think most folks to go their order.
Parking was pretty plentiful as this small establishment shares a huge strip with shops that are seemingly empty. Gam Cho is at the end corner of Buford Hwy and Commerce Dr. It is right beside a karate place right alongside Buford Hwy.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 12836601289Jun 4, 2017
Hidden gem. This place is amazing!! Open grill set-up. You order at front and can watch your food being cooked. They have delicious rice and noddle bowls with veggies and meat or tofu. Lots of variety sauces to choose from and the owner is happy to help you pick the right one. Ordered the fried chicken in edition to the chicken bowl. Both very good, fresh and an original recipe.
Highly recommend this placeHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 17, 2017
I really don't care what's said about this place. There's a certain hole in the wall vibe but that doesn't take away from the seriously legitimate awesomeness Gam Cho offers.
It's tiny and that's part of the appeal. It's more of a take-out place than it is a sitdown restaurant which is fine for me. When I went was late lunch and in so doing, made me the only patron there. But it wasn't the dine-in experience that had me loving the place. It was the food.
I ordered the Mama bowl which is their biggest size. With the roast pork and spicy (not really spicy) flavor, this thing filled me up. Mixed in with stir fried vegetables over a bed of rice served in a styrofoam soup quart bowl, it's jam packed full of flavor and the mix of spicy which is essentially sriracha and spicy mayo mixed up that accentuated the flavors of everything in the bowl. Since all the cooked items were ontop of the rice, everything from the wok fried veggies and pork meat juices all seeped into the rice taking on all the complex flavors.
I was literally done in about 10 minutes and scarfed the whole thing down. I was bummed it was over so fast!!!
Definitely will be coming ack here again!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael W.Suwanee, GA259295999Jul 25, 2017
I like this mom n pop Korean fusion restaurant. The owner/chef is very nice and the food was good. I do think they need to clean up the place and the wait for my food was a tad long. I know he cooks it to order and that's fine but maybe have another employee taking the orders and helping him prep. The prices are great and like I said, the food is good. I'll be back to try some other dishes. I will also add that I don't think there should be an up charge for kimchee, as that's really the staple side in Korean cuisine and maybe the sauce should be on the side. He has many sauces to choose from, which I really enjoy but the sauce he recommended was good, but it was mayo based and that really weighed down my rice/noodle bowl.
I didn't try their dumplings but from the photo, they look really tasty. I'll try them next time along with his lighter, veggie based bowl (Bi Bim Bap style) and I will request the sauce on the side so I can determine how much on want on my dish.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dave M.Atlanta, GA488742100Apr 24, 2019
This is a super simple restaurant. It's simpler than a bunshik. Here are the details. The interior is super plain. There are a few tables (enough for about 15) but there's nothing fancy about any of the furnishing. The interior could use some sprucing up. It could help attract more business.
You order at the counter from a simple menu. You either get a bowl ($5 for small and $7 for large) or dupbab (meat and rice, $7). The portions were good for the price as was the taste. It wasn't fancy but good. We also got the chicken wings ($5), which comes with about 8 boneless wings with the sauce on the side.
The chef/counter help/owner is nice and helpful. It's all self serve. Overall, it was a good cheap eat.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 7, 2016
Why the HECK did it take me so long to try this place?!! We ordered the spicy tuna ssambap, pork gu-i mini bowl, and the bulgogi dup bap. The ssambap was a perfect appetizer, but honestly, I could've eaten like 10 of these suckers just for my meal. I loved it! The grilled pork mini bowl was generous in its portion and delightful! I asked for it spicy, and it was, but I wish it had been more spicy. I like to breathe fire. Finally, the bulgogi dup bap was out of this world. My husband ordered it and it was so good I think my fork was in his plate more than mine. I have no idea what kind of sauces they used (since I told them to just pick and sauce it themselves), but it was o-mazing. We definitely won't dine it again, (as it was so hot we were sweating buckets) but we'll definitely get take-out!

Food was decent and reasonably priced. The facility itself needs a makeover.... not to clean ... not well kept. Owner needs to put money back into the business to draw more business.
This is a Korean Fusion Dive with the major influence from Korea. I would like to try them again but wish the place was a little more aesthetically pleasing ... this three stars.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Karis R.Atlanta, GA72155Apr 25, 2019
The place doesn't look like much but the food is amazing! The chef/ owner makes it to order so it's fresh every time. I got the mini bowl with bulgogi and it was sweet, spicy, and delicious. It was plenty to fill me up and a good amount of food for $5. My husband got the mama bowl ($7) with fried chicken and spicy mayo.
I know the space isn't much to look at and feels a little sketchy, but you won't be disappointed with the food or the sweet service!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jin S.Marietta, GA22936952May 1, 2018
My husband loves this place. They have a very limited menu (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). I've only gotten the bimimp bap but I'm very curious about the other items.
They only had two people working when we came in a Sunday night. They make everything to order so expect to wait. It's definitely worth it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
